FGCU Game Thread: You Haven't Done Nothing
tcp replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
that wiscy game's a warning for a lot of teams. they had an 86 point game in Kohl against a quality opponent. The foul calling is going to really suck this year, even though I think it's going to be good in the long run. -

ha! VA wouldn't let me use it anyway, so no skin off my back. If you have the prime rib @Dec I might grab one. If not, no biggie. That brisket's enough meat to last until thanksgiving. that thing was huge. I'll save a 4 and 7 pounder for you. Let me know if you want one. If not, that's fine. They move quickly. sure thing! i"ll get back to you on it. what I really need is for BTN to switch these games. -

my sister and I did it in theoven. and our first time, so it was pretty good. very nice meat, D. we kinda cooked it a bit too long, but it's still really good. Oh, and the Wagyu strips were fabulous! Worth the wait. Sorry for the slow response. I have to get used to manually refreshing this board... -

hey, man, good to see you tonight! Completely wired for a new season. GBR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I actually imagined the driver involved in the accident as kidney. women were probably his former players on the legendary 12-13 girls team.

We all need to keep in mind defensive quickness given the emphasis on hand use. If Peltz is better than Benny at defending with his feet, than I'm fine with him starting. I'm pretty sure that's not the case. We can't have a slow guard reaching out to check opposing players or we'll be giving up a freighter's worth of free throws. Edit: I've been having nightmares about how many games are going to be decided by this change. I'm sure half the coaches in the country are having the same nightmares.

since I'm now out of state, I have no idea what this is about. details, Mario, details!

I generally don't like sports boards because of the demographic that populates them. I'm admittedly snobby that way. I don't mind people that aren't all that bright if they're pleasant; but I despise people that are both stupid AND mean, and for some reason, they all hang out on sports boards. I didn't like this site at first because there used to be a nasty little clique of college brats running around tormenting newcomers. I left quickly along with a few other quality posters. Those people disappeared, and I came back and have stayed ever since. But SBNation boards are where I've been happiest overall. Corn Nation is trying to get some hoops off the ground, but like most boards, it's probably not going to fly. Just not enough hardcore fans of hoops affiliated with NU that also hangout on the internet. HHC is still number one, and while that's great, it's more a statement on how badly we need to increase the fan base for Nebrasketball.

Kearney Exhibition Game Day thread: Wish You Were Here

At least we have a little depth to compensate. Imagine what last year would have been like. Disaster! very true. norm also was kind enough to make me worry about interior play in the paint, too. so now there's two things to scope hard in the next few weeks. If we have everyone shooting from outside, we're going to get eaten alive in conference play. -

well, lots of combos tried, which is good, because we're going to be fouling machines. not a good year for this crackdown to happen for us. friday's game should be pretty revealing. -

well, that qualifies as a good first half. i guess scoring really *is* going to go up this season. -

HHCC Game #1 - Nov. 8 vs FGCU (8:00 PM)
tcp replied to UsAlways_AJS's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I almost soiled myself seeing this for this first time in months. Yay! Hoops is back! Now for the bad news: FGCU-73 NU-64 -
Wow, this one will be tough. I'm going to go with 14.

I can already see the button 49er's going to wear out by the end of the first month. "Shields drives it..."

"I'm gonna defend the moniker "greatest fans." The stupid people who figured out how to turn on computers are a relative minority who populate fanbases throughout the entire nation." ----------------------------------------- We have absolutely no idea what the percentages are nor does it matter. That's not the argument. Ever notice how one troll can derail twenty good posters? You should have, since it happens here every season. One Creighton fan can send 30 of you all into an apoplectic bender. That's not a favorable ratio for your argument. This is the nature of the internet. It's given voice to every pinhead who in every other time would have been buried in the obscurity they so richly deserved, only to be listened to by the cat or the dog who ran under the bed during every one of their mania-fueled tantrums. As for the litany of of urban mythology about how crappy other teams fans are (thereby elevating our own to exceptional status apparently by default), your examples violate your own observation about minority conduct. You find one extreme example and extrapolate that to all fans. I think you were right the first time, Norm. These are a minority of people, and every fan base has them. But that was my point. We're no exception to the rule that roaches and assholes will be what survives the apocalypse (and they'll certainly be the last ones populating a desolate internet by the time Windows 14 rolls out). There's only one generalization about fans worth noting: every team has great fans and crappy fans. The exact proportion varies. Maybe even enough to say one school's fans are better than another school's fans.
-
i disagree. what we are is not exceptional. we're like every other fan base. we have decent people who know and appreciate the sport. and we have a sizable collection of dimwads. this happened to every program in the country the second computers became cheap and stupid people finally figured out how to turn them on.

Interesting ranking of B1G's top 100 players ...
tcp replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
well, let's hope we have a couple of players that climb a little higher during the season or it could be a long year. -
important thing is trying to minimize the mass defections after the first five games so we don't have a scoreboard littered with partial players. i'm for anything that keeps people committed to the game once they start. and thanks in advance for putting in the work again, ASCHusker. Got to keep the tradition alive!
