  1. Looking that way. Missing the Ubel glue. In time this stuff shakes itself out. And I'm sure it will with our squad. Having a tough tournament, but this is a very young team, so they'll hopefully learn from it and improve. How they respond tomorrow will speak volumes to their makeup. Pride alone should kick in.
  2. Well, you'll certainly have a stronger case for this post today than yesterday. Our guys weren't ready for this game at all today.
  3. UAB is not very good and umass would have been middle of the pack at best in the B1G. There was no excuse to lose both of these games. And you base this on what again? UAB had UNM beat, and UMass being middle of the pack in the B1G says nothing about their quality, given that middle of the pack in the B1G is a tournament team. Maybe put more thought into this.
  4. well, this is probably the team we have. this was a tough tournament, with almost every team being solid to good. and now we have some idea where we're at, so there's that. We do have some strengths, but we've got a lot of weaknesses to address, and I'm not sure even John Wooden would get that all cleaned up in time.
  5. so whistles forcing gallegos into the game. sigh.
  6. Ideally, they should have offset the handcheck emphasis by making it easier--not harder--to draw charges out in the open floor. That's the way to reward positioning. By clamping down on *both*, the path is open for two hour lay up drill with fast, skilled teams. Even when we got into position yesterday, we still mostly wound up with blocking fouls. It was a no win situation for a smaller team.
  7. Defense is going to be a work in progress most of the season. We're especially spoiled on defense given the previous coach, and Miles continued that tradition last season. We've played fairly good D early in this season, but against much less athletic teams. I think this was just a tough matchup for us to begin with, and combined with the officiating whistle-gasm, not sure any coach would've looked all that good. And we have another brutal matchup tomorrow. We really have the nasty side of the bracket.
  8. The suckage overwhelms my ability to analyze this farce.
  9. I thought the changes were pretty clear, but seeing them get officiated is another issue. They wanted to increase scoring by cutting down on hand mugging, flopping on charges (which actually hurt us to day at a key moment), and last second sliding under an offensive player under the basket. that's pretty much it. there was nothing about never, ever again being able to make contact with another player.
  10. i think this crew went overboard. the intent of the rule was to stop the mugging, which is a laudable goal. It was *not* to eliminate all physical contact for all time. and that's sort of what this crappy ass crew did today. i think the NCAA will probably do a refresher on this shortly.
  11. amazingly enough, that early game this season racked up 97 fouls!
  12. i'll seriously question miles's coaching if he isn't hurt. he coached a great game today. this was an almost impossible situation once the whistles got inhumanly tight.
  13. i'm not sure I've witnessed a shittier basketball game than this one. man, I feel for our guys.
  14. good lord. we had it. we effing had it. david......
  15. I'm proud of our guys, though. Showed a lot of heart in some awful conditions.
  16. Being a sophomore happened, I think. Picked a bad game to regress.
