Three-point threats as of right now: 1. Glynn 2. Thomas 3. Cope 4. Nana 5. Roby 6. Everybody Else 7. JP James has to find his stroke, or just be content with driving to the hoop. -
I'm hoping they shake off the Rust in late November, not tonight.

9-2 non-con (losses to Texas Tech and Clemson) 11-9 con (9-1 in PBA, wins at Rutgers and one other) 1-1 conf tournament (We're a 6 seed, and we pound Pat Chambers' grit into the ground) 1-1 NCAA Tournament (I buy the t-shirt, the sweatshirt, the track suit and the commemorative Tim Miles bobblehead) That's 22-13 overall. -

I've driven to Ames and back, and I captured this short video of Michael J. on the ISU bench (BTW, Michael's looking a lot like Joaquin Phoenix these days):

I've always liked the idea for college football that the NFL should invest in a developmental league and pay players $100,000 a year with the promise of a college scholarship should they want to pursue that. The new D-League would use the infrastructure already established at colleges and universities across the country, but take over the management function. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs would have D-League teams in Manhattan, Lawrence, Columbia and Lincoln. The teams would be called the "Kansas State Wildcats," the "Kansas Jayhawks," the "Missouri Tigers," and the "Nebraska Cornhuskers." The players would still be of college age, and those that take advantage of the scholarship offer would be taking classes during their time in those college towns, or they'd be future students at those universities. The NFL would also take on the burden of scouting and hiring players for the D-League teams, though some level of employee choice would still be a part of an ideal plan. From the revenue generated by the D-League, each NFL team would also make contributions to the general athletics funds to help support non-revenue sports at their partner universities. Because the scholarship function would be funded by the NFL, each university would then also have 85 more scholarships to help re-establish or establish other sports for men, especially soccer, wrestling, gymnastics and swimming, sports that have been eliminated at too many universities. This new NBA G-League plan could be the first step to something similar in basketball. Or the basketball developmental system could grow and play out in a similar fashion to how professional baseball co-exists with college baseball, making the latter less competitive, but purer from the standpoint of ethics and sportsmanship.

Hell, yes. Hammer 'em. Vacated title, my ass. Those fans still have those memories, that YouTube video, those ugly-ass t-shirts. None of those will say "But we really didn't win it because it was vacated." Crush 'em into little SMU pellets.

I like that, except that we'd be playing up a division when we played Creighton. I prefer Division D(irty) vs. Division C(lean).

Annual "Which Roster is Better?" Thread
jayschool replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Don't underestimate the importance of those four returning starters having played together for at least a year, and in the case of Roby/Watson, two years. At this time last year, we weren't sure of the starting lineup. Cope and Palmer had been with the team, but they weren't probably practicing much with the starters during their transfer year. Thus, last year's team was a new aggregate that needed some time to work together before they started playing at a higher level. So this year's team not only has the feature of four returning starters, all of whom should individually provide more, but it also has the feature of four guys (five with Allen), who have extensive time playing together, and who have excelled together, finishing fourth in one of the nation's best conferences. They improve individually, they gel as a team. The only questions are: 1. How much have each of them improved individually? 2. How much have they, as an aggregate, improved as a team? 3. How can they replace Taylor's contributions off the bench? It won't be difficult to replace Dube's, Jordy's or even Allen's contributions off the bench, assuming Allen's in the starting lineup. -
You couldn't pay me to go to Creighton. (Too soon?)

One other thing: Roby's age. He's 20, and he won't turn 21 until February 2019. Does he want to enter the NBA at age 21 or age 22? So, yeah, he might just like the college experience enough at his relatively young age to stay around another year. I'm not counting on it, but a girl can dream, right?

Guy from Peegs.com (Indiana site): "What makes you think you have top 4 talent?" Miles: "We finished fourth last year, right?" Perfect.

Can you do a very loud Zoom conference with the rest of the board? I'd be happy to join in.
