  1. U of Iowa just sent us an email about campus activities ramping up. Here'e the relevant part: Iowa’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will begin returning select coaches and staff on June 1, 2020. Football student athletes who choose to participate in voluntary workouts will return beginning June 8, 2020, and Men’s and Women’s Basketball student athletes beginning on June 15, 2020. Student athletes will participate in a formal clearance process for the return to voluntary practice. The process will follow NCAA, B1G, and campus best-practices and supervised by UI Health Care medical staff.
  2. The 1971 Little Chiefs banquet in downtown Lincoln featured guest speaker Russ Snyder. We were all like, "Who?" And our dads flicked our heads, and said "Russ Damn Snyder, that's who!" On edit: 1971 banquet. Maybe '72. Long damn time ago.
  3. You kids and your crazy slang languages. SPEAK UP!
  4. It's the horizontal stripes and the Merlot.
  5. Stupid White Sox AND their fans.
  6. More like the "Dammit Games" the last decade or so.
  7. The refs might take that into consideration. It seems to help Kansas and Michigan State to have more stars.
  8. I know nothing of the fan base. I'm just a fan of Pulisic. Now you've made me think. Damn it.
  9. I can't even with some of these people. You have a perfectly wonderful back deck, but you sit in your garage to drink beer? Loose, unseasoned hamburger meat? Council Bluffs? C'mon!!
  10. Because of friends from Hamburg, I'm really partial to Hamburger SV, but since the (sob) relegation, I've adopted Schalke for the time being because of McKennie.
  11. His mother disagrees. I hit .231 my senior year.
  12. @colhusker Mark Belanger had a career BA of .228. In 2018, MLB pitchers hit .115. If Mark Belanger (BTW, we're old if we remember him) hit .115, he would not have lasted long. On edit: Mendoza's career BA was .215.
  13. Plus, if you build a club that plays 152 of 162 games WITH a DH, you have to change your whole lineup (likely weakening it both offensively AND defensively) in order to play a game that only one league in the entire world uses, at any level. But I'm biased as a fan of the Royals. I'm neither lovable enough to be a Cubs fan nor smart enough to be a Cardinals fan (#BFIB!).
  14. Big weekend in Bundesliga, too. Lass uns gehen, Schalke! Und Weston McKennie! Saturday, May 16 9:30 a.m. ET: Augsburg v. Wolfsburg, FS1 9:30 a.m. ET: Borussia Dortmund v Schalke, FS2 9:30 a.m. ET: Fortuna Dusseldorf v. Paderborn, Fox Soccer Plus 9:30 a.m. ET: Hoffenheim v. Hertha Berlin, Fox Soccer Plus 9:30 a.m. ET: RB Leipzig v. SC Freiburg, Fox Soccer Plus 12:30 p.m. ET: Eintracht Frankfurt v. Borussia Monchengladbach, FS1 Sunday, May 17 9:30 a.m. ET: Cologne v. Mainz, FS1 12 p.m. ET: Union Berlin v. Bayern Munich, FS1 Monday, May 18 2:30 p.m. ET: Werder Bremen v. Bayer Leverkusen, FS2
  15. Just to add to the comparison: Eduardo was born in 2001, Yvan in March 2002. So Eduardo is at least a few months older than Yvan.
  16. You should watch the Royals, then. We never hit three HRs in a game.
  17. Pretty clear eight-man rotation out of that: Webster Allen Banton Stephenson Ouedraogo Walker Mayen Thor 9 and 10 if waivered: King McGowens Off the bench in a pinch: Arop Andre
  18. In the modern game, there is one position on the field that is vastly more important than any of the other eight. I'll let you guess which one. You wanna let MadBum or Greinke hit, that's great. But I'm not going to promote a .150 or worse hitting shortstop to the majors, no matter how good he his in the field. I will with a pitcher who can't hit a lick because he's worth it. But he's not worth watching hit. It's the most boring part of NL ball. Ooh, strategy: should he bunt or strike out? Such a tough call.
  19. You go ahead and DH for your shortstop, and I'll DH for my pitcher. I bet I win more games. In short, pitchers have an outsized impact on the game compared to other players.
  20. I think field-goal kickers ought to have play center. And quarterbacks should be linebackers on D. The age of the specialist has been here for decades. And the National League is the only baseball league anywhere at any level that makes pitchers (try to) hit. Or should I write "bunt." Nothing more boring than watching a pitcher fan or look at three pitches and then head back to the dugout to rest.
