  1. They did have that one white guy. What was his name?
  2. They're loaded. But not in a good way.
  3. So much this, for so many reasons.
  4. Tyler Cook expected to announce today.
  5. Maybe it's cuz he types with his mouth full. Hard to understand. ?
  6. Should we call Tim and Armon and tell them about Christian?
  7. This is where a team like Nebraska can compete with the talent regularly accumulated at schools such as Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana and Maryland — age. Here's where we'll be on opening night 2018: Copeland 23 Palmer 22 Jordy 22 Watson 21 (turns 22 during the final week of the regular season) Roby 20 (turns 21 in early February) Allen 20 Nana 20 Thor 20 Add a seasoned center, and that's a veteran, talented rotation. Translation: There's some hair on them there legs.
  8. Here's the rotation I'd love to see, if we could get a quality post: Something like this: 1 — Watson (30 minutes), Allen/Harris (10) 2 — Palmer (25 minutes), Allen (10), Nana/Thor (5) 3 — Copeland (20 minutes), Palmer (10 minutes), Nana/Thor (5) 4 — Roby (30 minutes), Copeland (10 minutes) 5 — Mekowulu (20), Jordy (20) TOTAL: Palmer 35 Watson 30 Copeland 30 Roby 30 Mekowulu 20 Jordy 20 Allen 15-20 Nana/Thor 10 (Only one needs to emerge; if both do, super) Harris 0-5 (No pressure to perform, but the opportunity is there to play some point against bigger teams)
  9. First, I have no idea whether Miles is pursuing the best graduate transfer in the market at a position of need for Nebraska. But I imagine that since Mekowulu's announcement on Saturday, he's at least asked around. Second, Christian has improved his FT% from 59 percent to 64 to 75 percent in his three years at TSU. That allows you to potentially tell Christian and Jordy: "There's 40 minutes out there at the 5 spot for you. Let's see who gets 25 and who gets 15, or if you'll split those minutes more evenly." There's no need to sub out at the end of the game unless you simply want a shorter lineup. As already noted, Mekowulu (or a player like him) allows Roby (4), Copeland (3) and Palmer (2) to move down a slot in the starting lineup and then to mix and match the 3 and 4 spots among those three players after you start substituting. We aren't especially deep in the front court right now, and with Isaiah not having to match up with bigs on a regular basis, he might not foul as much and be available to play up to 30 minutes per game in tight games. It also allow you to have more length and athleticism in the backcourt when it's needed. If Thomas Allen emerges as a legitimate Big Ten player this year, then you can sub him in at both the 1 and 2, even if Amir Harris doesn't emerge as a legitimate point, even if Nana or Thor don't emerge as rotation players. Bottom line — we really have only six rotation players we can be confident in at this point, and that's not a recipe for success in the Big Ten. A player like Mekowulu puts us at 7, and really requires only one of Harris, Davis, Nana and Thor to develop into a top-flight player for this year to get us to an 8-player rotation. We're not looking to just be better than Nebraska has been. We're looking to be a legit top 25 team and a contender for a Big Ten title this year. A player like Mekolulu gives us real chance to do that.
  10. Christian Mekowulu, please.
  11. @colhusker I say this with all due respect and as an old friend: "Please go away from January through March 2019, my friend. Get off the grid somewhere and chill. We'll DVR the entire run for you. We promise."

  16. Transfer market winners and losers from theathletic.com. These paragraphs are under the heading "Losers" (but we could have told them that): 9. Creighton: Greg McDermott has some nice pieces set to take on larger roles this season, particularly on the perimeter with freshmen Mitch Ballock and Ty-Shon Alexander. But depth has been an issue in recent years for the Bluejays, who have had significant season-ending injuries the last two years to starters Maurice Watson and Martin Krampelj. McDermott could have used some insurance and depth on this roster, and he went after immediate help on the grad transfer market but missed on Joe Cremo (committed to Villanova), Zach Johnson (Miami), Nat Dixon (SMU) and Matt Mooney (Texas Tech). With the loss of Khyri Thomas to the NBA, there was opportunity to step right in as a starter. Creighton missed as well on younger transfer guards Malachi Flynn (committed to San Diego State), Koby McEwen (Marquette) and Mark Smith (Missouri). The Jays also lost one of their own in Ronnie Harrell, who graduated and transferred to Denver. Harrell would have helped provide depth to the frontcourt and would have filled a leadership role for what will be one of McDermott’s youngest teams.
  17. I thought Ed was going to be this guy:
  18. Could Dererk Pardon graduate super fast, like in a couple of weeks, please?
  19. Picks San Diego State over A&M and that other school.
  20. Transferred to N.C. State without every playing at VCU. Now back on the market after averaging 3.7 points in 30 games for the Wolfpack in 2017-2018. Top 100 player out of HS.
  21. Jalen Johnson, F, Saint Louis: Johnson has decided to transfer, the 6-7 sophomore announced on his Twitter page. Johnson, who’s from Baton Rouge, La., averaged 27.2 minutes, 9.1 points and 3.8 rebounds and shot 39.4 from 3-point range while starting 24 games in 2017-18.
  22. Tramaine Isabell, G, Drexel: Drexel’s top scorer plans to graduate in the summer. In his only season with Drexel, the 6-1 Isabell averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 47.4 percent from the field, 34.0 percent from 3-point range and 76.4 percent from the free-throw line. Isabell originally signed with Washington State, switched to Missouri after WSU fired coach Ken Bone, played at Mizzou two seasons, then left for Drexel, where he sat out in 2016-17. This past season he finished second in the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring and sixth in rebounding, earning second-team All-CAA honors.
  23. Malachi Flynn, G, Washington State: Flynn’s father tells The Fieldhouse that he has visited Creighton, San Diego State and Texas A&M. The sophomore guard averaged 15.8 points and 4.3 assists this past season for the Cougars.
