  1. Roby seems to be a guy with all the athleticism, all the right moves, all the skills ... but with very little instinct regarding what to do in any particular moment: He has a great dribble drive, but he seems to choose to use it too often when he should pull up and shoot a 10-foot jumper. He is a deadly shot-blocker, but too often attempts the block when he's out of position and likely to foul. He's a skilled outside shooter, but he doesn't seem to trust his ability to catch and shoot in rhythm. He's a good passer, but he lets the ball get stuck in his hands for too long. I'll let more-skilled analysts break down his game more technically, but I see a player with a lot of potential, but not necessarily the basketball instincts to pull it all together, at least at his current age.
  2. That was the first season I was old enough to pay attention. Tom Scantlebury, Marvin Stewart, Chuck Jura, Leroy Chalk, Bob Gratopp, Al Nissen, Ken Cauble ... Augustana didn't stana chance against the Huskers.
  3. (Channeling Rivals board poster) Figures. He can't win an NCAA Tournament game, he has only two winning seasons, and his offense is hella boring. Now he can't keep his players from getting sick. FIRE MILES!!!
  4. Always good to remember the career of Tom "Be" Best.
  5. Wednesday 12/11 games: Northwestern State at Texas Tech, 6:30, Fox Sports Southwest Plus Southeastern Louisiana at Old Mississippi, 6:30 SEC Network Plus
  6. It's more like — OK, this season is definitely gonna be a fun ride. Can we come close to repeating such awesomeness, or will we be merely good?
  7. My turn: 1 — Allen has shown his ability to penetrate and either score or kick. He can be everything that Glynn is on both ends of the court. MAW backs him up, with Harris as a possibility. 2 — Burke appears to be the slasher/scorer that we've had in Petteway and Palmer. Harris and/or Green can back him up. 3 — Akenten has shown athleticism enough on both ends to be given a shot until we know if Green can play at this level. Green and/or Harris back him up. Akol sits for a year. 4 — Roby gets a year in at his natural position, but there's no backup at this time. Nana could stretch if he had to. 5 — Heiman will be ready to start, but he'll need a year more to crack the top half of conference 5's. No backup unless Tanner appeals for another year or we find a grad transfer who can sub in at 4 and 5.
  8. Let's Dust Bowl the Okies and get back to where we belong.
  9. Are you related to Jett Canfield, by any chance? Dude looks just like Cousin Mose.
  10. Nebraska's at .355 for the year, after last night's game. The Huskers finished at .346 in 2017-2018. The difference is almost all Glynn, plus some Nana. Everybody else is performing slightly to a great deal (Roby) worse. Individuals: Watson .472 (.291 last year) Akenten .417 (.250 last year on only 8 attempts) Copeland .364 (.369 last year) Allen .344 (.354 last year) Palmer .302 (.309 last year) Roby .176 (.405 last year) That written, I think we now all have a little more confidence in Palmer's stroke, and we know Roby also has an upside from deep. All should, and do, feel confident outside the Arc de Triomphe.
  11. If the sweater vest and loafers fit ...
  12. The only time you'll see a reference to Creighton and "D" in the same paragraph.
  13. We need to coin a moniker for such duplicity.
  14. Two questions: Who's the guy on Creighton's bench who looks just like Cousin Mose? Is CU's Transylvanian center a senior?
  15. OK. That's the last damn team in blue I'm rooting for today, unless you count Illinois, which is more navy than real blue.
  16. SH wins!!!!!
  17. SH down one with 24.9 left. UK at the line for two.
  18. SH up by two with 2:30 left in OT.
  19. Seton Hall about the beat Kentucky at Madison Square Garden. Myles Powell has gone OFF. Damn. UK just hit a half-court three to tie it. OT. Damn.
  20. This. Especially if they have a degree from UNL. I have a degree from the University of Florida, but I'm consistent about how I feel about the Gators. (For the record, mostly disengaged, but I root for UF versus FSU and Miami.)
  21. And although it shouldn't have happened last night, members of the bottom half of the league are going to win a few games — likely at home — against members of the top half of the league. Again, we have nine more opportunities to pick up road wins in the league. We have one good one outside the league, and any of the following will also be good to great victories: 1/2 at Maryland 1/6 at Iowa 1/14 at Indiana 1/21 at Rutgers 2/2 at Illinois 2/9 at Purdue 2/19 at Penn State 2/28 at Michigan 3/5 at Michigan State Hold serve at home or go 9-1. Let's learn and turn the page. Cretin has been sitting at home all week watching other people play. They should be fresh. The Huskers need to regroup, and the home crowd will be needed to provide some energy. Beat the hell out of Cretin!
