I retired a year ago and began searches for forums to feed my Big Red appetite. I found HuskerMax and now found Husker Hoops Central. I have been and shall always be (no this isn't a Star Trek post) a husker fan, thus the Husker. My son is a UNL grad, as am I. The Frog is because my daughter is TCU grad and I like Gary Patterson. One thing I've noticed here as apposed to Max is you have usually have friendly discussions. At Max there are too many posters with ego problems, that think if you do not agree with them you are extremely stupid. I love college basketball but my detailed knowledge is limited so my posts will usually be general in nature. I am also a fan of women's BB, even though their, at times, sloppy play can be quite frustrating. I have begun.

I'd rather watch two girls singular goblet (**Edited sorry shouldn't reference that by name) on repeat than read BJU. Just saying. NO I HATE THE HUSKERS, NO I HATE HUSKER BASKETBALL, NO I LOVE DOUG, NO WE ALL LOVE DOUG, NEBRASKA DOESNT HAVE DOUG. Burn. BURN BURN BURN.

  3. Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I'm a college basketball junkie and have been a big fan of Miles since his days at Colorado State. Love what he's doing at Nebraska and it's great to see the excitement around the program -- PBA was absolutely rocking last season! Anyway, The 6-foot-9 power forward received his release from Southern and is said to be eligible immediately. As soon as I saw this, I immediately thought 'perfect fit'. Godfrey played one season at Iowa State and transferred to Howard junior college after being dismissed by Hoiberg. At ISU, he averaged 5.7 points on 55 percent shooting, 5.4 rebounds and just under a block over 20 mins per game -- very respectable numbers for a true freshman in the Big 12. Godfrey had some pretty dominant games in the SWAC on his way to averaging 13.1 points (56 percent from the field), 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game last season. This kid is as athletic as they come, runs the floor like a deer, has a knack for rebounding and is an electric finisher around the basket. Think Eric McKnight -- who also played at ISU before transferring to FGCU and was recently denied eligibility at Tennessee (eventually committed to Long Beach State) -- but with more upside and a bit more polished in terms of playing with his back to the basket. At Southern, he just began scratching the surface and has an NBA ceiling. He's still a bit raw and needs to add about 15-20 pounds to his frame, but he's a very coach-able kid who was the 'heartbeat' of a Southern team who finished the regular season first in the SWAC at 15-3. After the 6-foot-10 Gary Gaskins was recently granted his release from Oklahoma State, Jeff Goodman believed that Nebraska was going to go after him... but with Godfrey now on the market, I think he should be first priority. Obviously it would be a great opportunity for Godfrey after Smith went down with the knee injury and he would provide some much-needed depth in the frontcourt for a program on the rise.

  4. I'm still unsure how to link tweets but @GoodmanESPN: Oklahoma State 6-10 big man Gary Gaskins expected to get his release and transfer, source told ESPN. MAY be eligible this season. @GoodmanESPN: Gaskins may get waiver due to fact served in military. Attended JUCO for 2 years. Teams could be in mix: Tenn, Ga Tech, Nebraska, Temple.

    Tai's summer

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/basketball/10342595/Tall-Blacks-challenge-Loe-to-be-an-enforcer Printed in this morning paper. Younger brother Tai Webster also had his best display of the tour at the point. "He had something like five points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals and it was a real active time on court for him," Henare said.

Thank you for your interest in discussing this topic over here, we could use some thoughts from fans of your feather from time to time and welcome civil discourse. Hopefully you can keep that in mind when sharing thoughts. I, for one, will give almost anyone the benefit of the doubt before running off shouting troll. Having that said, the thread you are referencing is a really poor example of considered thought and fair debate...it's mostly geared towards creating any logical fallacies necessary to convey some kind of irrational and blind hatred towards anything Huskers. Which is kind of sad really. The occasional joke or humorous jab is to be expected, goodness knows we do our share of it over here, but really...a 100+ page thread that has been running for almost two years now (and which, by the way, is as far as I can tell by far the longest thread there) is pathetic. But here's to a quick return to hoops season. I hope you guys lose all your games in embarrassing fashion!

  7. Not sure I'm buying that NU is such a unique program and that being a part of this team can cure some pretty obvious ills. Every program in the country has strong built in support programs. Some folks just are unable to take advantage of the gifts given them. Yeah, I get that the kid has probably been dealt a pretty tough hand in life, but we aren't running a charity here. Character comes from within. Team chemistry is often a fragile thing and it can be dissolved quickly with even one slightly questionable egg. Adding a player that you aren't 100% confident in being a cohesive part of the team is a risky proposition, IMO. If it were up to me, I'd say this one is a hands off type of transfer. Could be subtraction by addition...the Biggs situation comes immediately to mind. I respect yours and others opinion on the matter, I just happen to differ in this case.

I was under the assumption that's code for doing whatever it takes to getting thugs extra years of playing eligibility.

Welcome...and at times it will get heated...but it is more often passion rather than anger; unless we are talking about a certain other school.

  12. Haha. Rosenthal does not have a clue. No offer from Creighton and Iowa State is being nice in saying they loved him but didn't have room. Not the case
