PimpMario Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 I will eat some crow. I was too quick to write off the season as a complete growing year. After the Northwestern game I was pretty dejected about this year. I even started to have doubts about Tim Miles. Now I don't want to act like everything is perfect and we are on our way to the dance but it seems like we now have a real shot at making the CBI. Getting to 16 wins doesn't seem impossible and getting more is certainly possible! In short thanks to the homers out there for always cheering me up with your eternally optimistic expectations. I think it is so easy for me to feel like "there is always next year" when I have only been going to every game since Collier's first year. TL:DR: It is fun to be a Husker fan again! Quote

I would say we have a real shot at making the NIT instead of the CBI. Quote
49r Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 I agree kldm64, right now I think CBI is our safety net. Quote

ajb5856 Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 I have a hard time with the projection of what post season tournament we could land in. First off, we don't know how many wins it would take to reach each tournament because it sort of depends on what other teams do and also which teams we decide to beat. If you go off of the way we played the non-conf and the first three conference games, then we shouldn't win a game the rest of the year. If you go off the last four, the way we're playing now, we could be in each and every game the rest of the way, win a bunch and make the real tournament. So... Silverbacked1 1 Quote
PimpMario Posted January 21, 2016 Author Report Posted January 21, 2016 We probably need 16 wins for the CBI, maybe 17. 4 games ago I didn't think we could get there. Quote

The Polish Rifle Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 We probably need 16 wins for the CBI, maybe 17 for the NIT. 4 games ago I didn't think we could get there. 17 wins gets us CBI no problemo... 17 wins and were probably an NIT team. ASU went 17-15 (9-9) last year and Alabama went 18-14 (8-10) and both were NIT teams being in weaker conferences than the B1G. I would go as far as saying we would be an NIT lock with 18 wins. NIT is a very realistic goal for this group. Quote
hskr4life Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 One other thing is that the Big 10 tournament does not scare me as much this year as it has in previous years. We have shown that we can play on the road... in a neutral site... really some of our worst have come at home. There are some wins to be had in the B1G tourney come march if we play like we can. NIT is a very realistic goal for this group. ASU had a SOS less than 65 and a RPI under 100 At 17-14 we have a SOS around 90 and a potentially a RPI of 132. Being a member of the B1G + 17 wins isn't nearly as important as who we beat with those 17 wins. Quote
The Polish Rifle Posted January 22, 2016 Report Posted January 22, 2016 You had to bring facts to the table....I was content living in a world where 17-18 wins guaranteed us a NIT bid. hhcmatt and Silverbacked1 2 Quote
