Huskerpapa Posted October 11, 2015 Author Report Posted October 11, 2015 After a gut wrenching loss in football, it was great to see the Cubbies win. Going home with Jake on the mound... Quote
trickey Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Congratulations to the Cubbie fans here...perhaps you are a team of destiny, as Marty McFly came back from the future of October 2015 and already told us who wins the series in Back to the Future II. I can only imagine what it would be like if Harry Caray were still here! Quote
BirdsOnTheBat Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 Yep, a tip of the cap to the Baby Bears from Birds on the Bat!! Quote
Huskerone Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 in my best Harry Carray voice...CUBS WIN!! CUBS WIN!!, HOLY COW, CUBS WIN!! Home field in the NLCS! Wrigley will be rockin. Quote

Huskerpapa Posted October 14, 2015 Author Report Posted October 14, 2015 I will be honest...I was so happy, I cried. Go Cubs go. Quote

Awesome game. Keep it going. So being a Cubs fan I'm not used to this playoff thing. I figured they'd go by record, thus the Cubs having the home field having the third best record in baseball. I just found out that they seed the teams. The Cubs being the lowest seed via the Wild Card game at #5 will NOT have home field. Which sucks, kind of like the all star game deciding home field for the world series. My bad! Quote
ShortDust Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 All they need to do is at least take one of the 1st in either place. Then 3 at home to clinch. I like our one two punch to get at least one on the road. Quote
jimmykc Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 I like the Cubs because of Lester, and Theo and Rizzo and I am partial to perennial downtrodden losers. Didn't think i would end up watching a lot of playoff games this year once the Yankees got annihilated. But the games so far have been too good to ignore. Now a Cubs-Royals series would really merit my attention. And am I the only one on the board to be able to recall the days when Harry Caray was the voice of the Cardinals? Quote

49r Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 They were saying last night was the first time in franchise history that the Cubs clinched a post-season series at home. That's just mind-boggling to me. AuroranHusker 1 Quote

HuskerFever Posted October 14, 2015 Report Posted October 14, 2015 They were saying last night was the first time in franchise history that the Cubs clinched a post-season series at home. That's just mind-boggling to me. It's also the first time in franchise history that the Cubs have clinched a post-season series when starting the series down 0-1. I think the record was 0-13 or something (I'd have to fact check that for accuracy). Quote

As for the beer switch to Old Style...it did not seem to slow him down (well drinking wise anyway). He always seemed happy by the end of the game. Quote
HuskerFever Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 Could you imagine the Cubs, Royals, Blue Jays, Mets? Who would have guessed it (potentially)? Quote
49r Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 I can tell you it's a giant party in KC right now. GO ROYALS!! Quote

jimmykc Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 Any of you Cubs aficionados who will be driving to Kansas City for the World Series might enjoy visiting the Joe Tinker museum at Muscotah, Kansas on the way down. It is south of Falls City on highway 73. Just don't plan on doing anything else in that forlorn little burg. Quote
HuskerFever Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 Another great 30 For 30 production and a good reminder of exhibiting good stewardship and sportsmanship: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=13883887 Quote
