Row6Seat10 Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Welcome Mi'cole! She deserves her own thread! Mi'cole Cayton the 5'9 guard from St Mary's high school in Stockton CA commits to the Huskers tonight! That's commit #2 for 2016. She visited Nebraska last week. And came away really impressed. https://mobile.twitter.com/micole_cayton/status/610659367126327296 fred1212 1 Quote

Tinpanalley Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Welcome aboard Mi'Cole. From ESPN - three star Scouts grade 90 Nike Tournament of Champions-December 2014: Confident combo-guard with a scorer's mentality and swagger; dribble-drive attack yields results; finds rim with consistency; keeps the defense honest with range at the arc. (Olson) Norcal Pre-Summer-June 2014: Explosively athletic combo-guard handles and attacks in uptempo; fearless persona with a scorer's mentality; flourishes in uptempo. redsteve Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Not so great video...but .....Mi'Cole runs with a pretty good crowd in Calif. http://usatodayhss.com/2015/neumann-goretti-no-1-st-marys-no-2-in-super-25-girls-basketball-rankings Neumann-Goretti (Philadelphia) held onto its top spot in the latest Super 25 girls basketball rankings, with only one set of rankings to go. No. 2 St. Mary’s (Stockton, Calif.) also retained its spot after it defeated then-No. 10 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 76-69 in the state Open Division Championship. Junior guard Mi’Cole Cayton led the Rams with 21 points in the win. Quote
Tinpanalley Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Quote from Mi'Cole's club coach, George Quintero: “First and foremost she’s an ultracompetitive kid, very demanding of herself, and very demanding on the defensive end,” Quintero. “She loves to compete defensively, and she loves to attack every time she has the ball. She has a good spot-up shot, but she likes to go by you if she can get you on a head fake.” http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/womens-basketball/women-s-basketball-newest-husker-comes-from-top-california-program/article_d1b5c9ad-7071-5ae8-9714-4676388c3f07.html Quote

KarlHessEatMy.... Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 https://youtu.be/dkxLFzECcQ0 https://youtu.be/3qxWG8eSg6w The 2nd video she deff looks like T's twin... She looks to be full of energy on the court and a great passer/shooter. I think she will be great. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 thoroughly enjoyed watching 'T' as a husker! especially her defense. the minnesota game this year at PBA was one of her best, imo. if there is a criticism, from my point of view, T's offense was rather streaky (re: jump shot and 3pt'ers). she sure could beat someone to the hoop, though!!! will be fun to watch how Mi'cole develops. i would bet it's rather quickly. Tinpanalley Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 The second video Karl posted was a joy to watch and thinking we will be able to watch it for the next four years is exciting. She really does remind you of T. But the thing the video does not show is shooting percentage and I have not seen this stat for Mi'Cole. Hope she shoots for a higher shooting percentage than T did. T's shooting percentage and possibly her height is what prevented her from being drafted in the WNBA. Quote
huskerchode Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 T was definitely streaky on offense, but her D was always so good! She was fun to watch. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 just hearing that she is a defensive minded, high energy, go to the hole player made me think of T. Won't be upset to get another type of that kind of player. Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted June 17, 2015 Author Report Posted June 17, 2015 The way she drives and gets to the bucket sort of reminds me of Ohio St's Kelsey Mitchell. And when she gets in there, what she puts up looks as if it will go in! Quote
redsteve Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Prospect Nation : Micole Cayton (Stockton, Calif.), St. Marys 2016If there was an award for most improved player on the west coast in the past year, Cayton would definitely be on the ballot. She infused tempo and energy into her team. This St. Marys squad already plays the game fast and furious but with Cayton in charge the pace accelerates as her quickness with the ball was unmatched here. She has become a really accurate catch and shoot threat from behind the arc. Shes a player that is going to push the issue and take some tough shots now and again but her ability to impact the game is well beyond what we saw from her nine months ago when her sophomore year was winding down. Row6Seat10 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Report Posted July 23, 2015 Mi'cole Cayton's leads St Mary's/Stockton to the 3A Division Championship! The 29th Annual San Diego Classic has concluded, and to no one’s surprise, defending CIF Open Division state champion St. Mary’s-Stockton was the 3A Division champion for the fourth straight year after a 71-50 victory over defending Division V state champion La Jolla Country Day-San Diego. St. Mary’s turned up the heat and by halftime held a 32-24 lead. When first-team all-state junior selection Kat Tudor hit the second of four 3-pointers to open the second half, the Rams were firmly in control and continued to extend their lead until the final buzzer Tudor finished with a team-high 18 points and was a strong consideration for 3A MVP, however that honor went to Ms. Basketball State Player of the Year finalist and teammate Mi’Cole Cayton. The rising senior had 17 points, six steals and three assists. http://www.prep2prep.com/feature.aspx?ArticleID=4402 Quote
HB Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 We recruited behind Chandler Smith at the guard position, and it is a good thing we did. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
