We should have three scorers next year with Rachel, Jessica and Natalie. All three should be double digit scores. Allie will need to get stronger and faster but I am not sure her body type is conducive to it. Syracuse drove in her frequently in the last game. Who will replace Samples defense? It will be interesting to see how things shape up next year. The season just ended and I can hardly wait until next year.

for next year, i don't think they will be able to replace Sample's defense---at least you won't see it right away. i know nothing about Rachel Blackburn, but, just off the top of my head, she would be my guess that could become the defensive leader eventually.

just from what i have read, Simon seems to lean more towards the offensive side of the ball?

one thing that strikes me, is that Allie seems to struggle gathering the ball in a crowd. rather soft hands. easy to have the ball knocked away. would like to see her work on squeezing that orange!

my guesstimate no. 2,482 for next year....

We'll be in pretty good shape good at the guard spot, with Rachel T, Nat, Chandler, Jazz and Simon (at wing?) in the mix. Decent depth and not all rookies. And a couple more on the bench.

The point could be a strength..Rachel, Nat, and Smith can run it too if necessary. May be too early for Simon at the point.

We should have better height too, but not as experienced. Havers (stronger next fall hopefully) and Shepard....plus Washington (good body type and size), like the newbie Blackburn.

May need more wing types....the "you-know-who's" would have been ideal...but.....

Yori will be doing some experimenting with positions, this summer/fall. It would be real interesting to watch practice with all the 3 new players included....plus any transfers ?? ...or a pick up from who knows where.

We might well be better scorers next year if Shepard can get on board quickly....and we shoot for a better team average. The games this year we shot 30% or so...we struggled.

The only thing I'm predicting is I don't really know where we'll end up..... as the starters.

I think a lack of overall quickness will plague us against the top teams.  Who is going to guard Mitchell from Ohio St. or the Maryland guards?  We should field a team with decent size and shooting capability.

definitely something to be concerned about.

kansashusker makes a point. i did forget about Washington. you state in your comment she is "really fast, and strong". if true, as i know absolutely nothing about her game, it could be possible she fills the role that Sample leaves vacant.

Could that mean we have Jess and Washington as starters with Havers coming off the bench? It will be interesting to see how things unfold as the season goes on. I'm really looking forward to it. In fact, I'm hoping we see good minutes from all 4: Jess, Washington, Blackburn, and Havers. It would be so nice to have a rotation of 4 there for those times we run into weird refs.

And also if half our team is on the bench in boots.

If we talk about it won't happen. At least that is what I heard on the Internet.:)

And I totally forgot to mention Kalenta.

Actually, I didn't.  One thing I've noticed (could be wrong) but she seems have kind of slow footwork. Not sure, but it looked like it from what little I've seen her play. If she can't keep up on defense...may be why Yori is keeping her on bench. ....maybe

The Havers/Washington/Blackburn thing probably isn't determinable yet....they only way to figure it out is to have all three on the practice floor at the same time...for a considerable amount of time.

My guess is.....it would take quite a bit to be ahead of someone with 2 years of B1G playing time. (I consider Washington to be one step above a newbie right now...but not a real minute on the floor)

Maybe Havers and Shepard start, with Washington and Blackburn subbing. Would have experience and skill sets on the floor immediately. The subbing sure would keep height and rebounding on the floor all the time.

Shepard is the exception to most everything. She should be almost automatic from the get go.

Fun to speculate ...

Husker Wade Trophy winner Karen Jennings talked with Adrian Fiala of the Ticket this afternoon. Talks about her up-bringing, 6 on 6 hoops, Natalie Romeo, this years Husker team and what to expect next year.

It would help the interview immensely if Fiala would have actually knew what he was talking about when interviewing her. There are two parts to this interview.
