Since we have two scholarships available due to the Page sisters' decommitments do you think/know if their is any chance that we could go after Cecilia Zandalasini?  Would be a player that could probably come in and make an immediate impact. However we would be competing against teams like UCONN and TENN among pretty much all the other top dogs. Then again, the NCAA likes to take their sweet time clearing foreign players so it could also be a risk.I also see there is an unsigned 6-7 post (according to ESPN) but my hunch is that if she is unsigned at this point then there might be a reason why, but then again what do i know. Or do you think they are saving them for Juco/transfers/later recruiting classes?

Twister in reality I think we can only dream of getting Zandalasini to come to Lincoln. I haven't heard her name associated at all with NU. But really I haven't heard of any college on her radar. She's from Italy so when you think of a college coach with Italian ties you think of UConn. And they have a knack of getting top foreign players and they get them to produce for them.

I heard her say in an interview a while back where she wanted to make a career out of basketball. My thinking is that she may just go pro over in Europe. She's probably got the skills now to play in the WNBA. She's playing with a pro team now in Italy but she isn't getting paid because she's still floating the idea of playing in college. Which I think further complicates her NCAA ability.

How good could we be with someone like that though?

I do think they'd look at a transfer though if she could help us out with rebounding and defending the low post. I doubt they go the juco route though. Juco's don't seem to pan out here. But you never know.

Just my view...

But we've lost both of our "recruiters" in the last couple of years. This has to put us behind in recruiting. (we don't have any commitments, while most other B1G schools do.  ......(let alone the top 10 schools nationally)....just saw yesterday where Illinois just got a transfer from Marquette.)

Some recruit that really liked Shimmy...may now look around a bit more. Just the reality of the situation.

Think we need an outstanding recruiter immediately....not just for immediate needs (two open schoolies)....but also one that can develop the relationship with a girl that doesn't graduate for a year or two. ......... yes....it's all pretty obvious.

Fully realize we've had a couple of very good classes...but without a dynamic personality to recruit....good classes can be less frequent in the future.

Another question for thought:

Don't we pay our head recruiter enough to keep them, or is there some other reason(s) they choose to leave?

i can understand why sunny left, but, still rather curious as to why shimmy left? i am not "close" to program at all, so, i am looking at things from afar. sunny leaving, shimmy leaving---the "incident" with the page girls. can't help but raise some questions?

Shimmey got a promotion and is the top asst. at Florida. Also, if you look at her resume she never stays anywhere more than approx. 3-4 years.

Paige situation raises zero questions on NU's end.  75 % of womens teams have kids leave every year. Nature of womens d1 bball.

The 6-foot-2 wing from Italy has the skills and experience to make an impact on any BCS program in the country. And it sounds as though she's headed this way. Zandalasini's plan is take the SAT shortly and play with her Italian national team in the summer. After that, she reportedly is set to visit a number of schools, make her decision shortly thereafter and enroll at a school in the United States. She is said to be considering a bunch of options, from South Florida to Minnesota to South Carolina and California. Throw in Florida, Mississippi State, Indiana, Texas, UCLA and more. In other words: Stay tuned. A major contributor could be coming from afar to impact your team soon.

sure would like to see Nebraska get in line, and, appears to be quite a line. looking at the schools in the quote, there should be no reason at all why 'N' shouldn't be there! (unless she has already said "not interested")

We got our answer today twister!

Italian club Famila Schio has announced the re-signing of 19 year old Italian forward Cecilia Zandalasini. She was ranked by ESPN as the fourth best college prospect for the upcoming signing class, though now it’s clear she’s staying home.
