I hope we find a way to bring in a JUCO or Transfer forward along with Atewe. I don't think it is a good idea to have 2 very raw players in Atewe and Vucetic on the same team with the only other option being Pitchford.

If anything i think it will be a one year grad transfer guy.  The more I look at it with the offers going out that Miles wants at least 2 guys next class.  You wont get that with a juco guy so if you get a one year player you get their services but also can get a player for next years class.

Miles could still sign Atewe and a juco and still have at 2 ships to give out in 2014 if someone leaves.  I just don't see BP having much of a role on this team after this year.  Vooch may be out if Mlies thinks he is too big a project, and there are other possibilites.  Heck, some have even speculated Biggs is standing on a thin strand right now b/c of his DUI.  Lots can happen to open up more ships over the next year, and most likely at least 1 or 2 more spots will open up.  I hope Miles can land Atewe and a decent juco to give us a few more options next year and going forward.  If a one-year grad transfer wants to join the party then great.

theyd have to leave after this year though if they want someone truly worthwhile.  Because assuming he fills his final 2 spots that leaves one if no one leaves to sign in the fall.  By waiting until the spring of 2014 to have one leave youre left scrambling to try and find the next Vucetic like we did this last year to fill that spot.

I think Miles wants to guarantee 2 spots in the fall which means 1 year transfer/leave the spot open, or someone leaves and we still sign two.

Coaches oversign all the time.  Doc did it many times, almost every year.  Remember, scholarships are 1 year contracts, so the coach can "predetermine" if someone will be back or not, and then make that player think he is actually leaving of his own accord at the end of the year.  If Miles wants to sign 2 in 2014, he will sign 2 no matter how many "open" ships he has at the time.

You are correct I thought the B1G bball rule was the exact number but in basketball it is you can over sign by one.  So yes we could sign two, but not anymore assuming no attrition this spring, in the fall after checking the B1G rules.

Sure would be nice, wouldn't it?  Having a 6'10" athlete in the game?  I do think every player on the floor needs to be at least a reasonable threat to score, though, to keep defenses honest.

Did anyone else notice who mostly "covered" Benny while he was on the floor last night...

Isn't that what Pitchford's supposed to be?

I would say so.

Didn't get to see the game at all, but I'm going to guess either the free-throw line or the 3-point line defended Parker since I doubt Purdue would waste a player on him.

They covered him with the 7' post player and he never left the key.

Meanwhile, Manhattan.  Yes, Manhattan.  Manhattan has a population of 52,000 spread out over 18 square miles.  And it's an oasis in the middle of the Flint Hills of Kansas with no other cities, major or otherwise, within about a two hour drive in any direction.  OK, towns.  Maryville, KS is a town.  Not a city.  And it's within 2 hours.

Maryville, KS is not a town.  In fact, it doesn't even exist (at least not in the manner you're describing).  Maryville, Missouri exists, as does Marysville, KS.  It's where I make my home.

:)

That said, you point is otherwise well proven.

I've had some students with that last name in the past.

And yes, we've got black rodents.

And yes, it is an offense worthy of a fine to harm one within city limits.

Once, while driving to Manhattan on a friday afternoon where the Huskers were to play a football game the next day, I got stuck on highway 77 next to the high school in Marysville while waiting for a train to pass.  There was a considerable line of other Huskers fans making their way down to the game.  We all got out and stood around shooting the breeze while the train passed.  It was like a mini-tailgate.

It is probably my fondest memory of the place.  Otherwise, it's just the place where you have to turn left onto 36 for a mile or two before turning right back onto 77.  That is all.

There has to be something there between Pitchford and Atewe.  Walter is the only current player at a school recruiting him that I see a continual dialogue on the ol twitter.

Isn't Fuller going full court press on Atewe too?

Umm...not really.

Well, you don't turn right...not if you want to stay on 77.  Crikey, you could end up in Hiawatha!

Why would you want to?  Spend a lot of time in Manhattan, do you?

Nah.  I used to travel down there quite a bit though as my sister was in grad school at KSU and I was in Lincoln back in the day.  Lots of fond memories traveling that highway.  Real scenic drive, too, especially in the fall.  Haven't been that way in years though.

I do recall being impressed by the football field at Marysville High School, tucked up against that hill as I recall.  There's also an ancient tree just south of the state line (or was) that I was always impressed by.  I was always amazed at how peaceful that drive was.  One of my favorites.

The story I've heard about the football stadium is there was supposed to be a community college in Marysville and they built the stadium with that in mind (to split with the CC).  Then there was a vote (or something) that vetoed the CC, so the high school got the (unfinished at the time) football stadium.  I think Concordia got the CC instead.  The stadium is about to be restored a bit.  I just wish the concession stand would have been involved in the restoration (I run the stand for football season).

It really is a cool venue.
