By the way, I think I should get partial credit for saying I'd take Rayvonte "4 Steps" Rice.  He turned out OK too.

Where do you mention Rice?  All I saw was Petteway and something about a kid from Northern Iowa.  Rice was a Drake transfer.

 

Not a big deal, just curious if I am missing it.

 

Drake, schmake.  I couldn't remember his name (at the time), you think I'm going to pay attention to which school he went to?  I was talking about the kid we'd all kind of talked about at the time, the kid from the Missouri Valley program located in the state just to the east of us who decided to transfer and chose Illinois.  And he turned out just fine.  And the kid we got, much to EVERYONE'S surprise, turned out even better.  And don't for a moment try to tell me you predicted Petteway would end up being as good as he's been.

Where did I say or even hint at anything like this? Please don't put words in my mouth. I haven't tried to be combative in this topic at all, but you are coming off very defensively.

All I said in this topic before that post about Rice was that I thought the old thread was pretty funny stuff. I enjoyed reading it knowing what we know now.

Unfortunately I could not coax my old computer into letting me view the old board but I am happy to note that it is still out there somewhere in the "cloud" or whatever it is that collects old flotsam from the internet. Now I wonder if anything from the really old board also survives. You know, the one that the now legendary Dave started. Posts from that one would be like finding the Rosetta Stone.

Dimes and 49er: Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I noted a few names are still here like Cip and cwg. They also will remember when Barry was our white knight, when many of the threads were from a couple of Pius HS guys sitting in study hall, and before Norm had recorded a single post. Now if only Sideburns Jones would reappear...

Now if only Sideburns Jones would reappear...

hahah...and one of those Pius kids graduated now from college, has a terrific job, got married and is now on baby # 2.  Man, time flies :lol:
