Good run by the Gophers in the NIT.  Elaison ends the year mostly riding the pine.  Minny should be pretty good next year.  I thought dad Pitino being so animated on the sidelines was strange.  I obviously think it's great he was there to support his son, but to be barking out instructions doesn't really help son's image and may undercut him a little.

Good for Elliot Eliason & his Gopher teammates. Still recall the Nebrasketball NIT title in '96 as if it were yesterday... pretty cool to win a national tournament, no matter if it's no longer the pre-eminent tourney like it once was.

I suppose I am happy for the Gophers but I would still rather be us than them.

True, but I'd rather be them than Iowa!

True, but I'd rather be Iowa than a rusted out Chrysler K car sitting in some junkyard in Peoria.  Although I could understand why some would disagree.

I live here in the Twin Cities, and this was met with a collective YAWN, or treated as some kind of a joke. Reusse (Trib columnist) pointed out the Gophers now have the most wins in NIT history with 32, meant as a slap in the face, not a source of pride. They get Dre Hollins back next year & Mathieu at the point...... not sold on Elliot or Big Mo at all.

Iowa will be a good team in 2014-15. A big reason, I'd imagine, is that they'll be free of the distractions they had toward the end of the season with the coach's son's health concerns/surgery.  Iowa has a bevy of good, solid players, and this upcoming year I suspect Aaron White will take a major step forward for them across the board. I think the year-end collapse they had in 2013-14 is the anomaly.
