Looking at the box score.  Some interesting takes.  We did everything we wanted except for fouling.  Cherry and Heslip were a combined 3 for 14 from the floor, and 0 for 7 from 3.  Austin took 3 shots. We had 5 more blocked shots than Baylor.  We were +8 in points in the paint.  We were + 9 in fast break points, and + 6 in points off turnovers.  We were -8 in second chance points.

Walter being shut out is also a telling stat.  I didn't see that coming.

Only other time for a Walter 0-fer was 1 time this conference season... that goose egg & Leslee only playing 11 min w/ 5 fouls are both very stunning developments. Post play today well below subpar-- to say it kindly. Drastically better post play ought to be a B1G point of emphasis going forward for Miles & Co. I think the recruiting trail will be a-blazin' w/ big'uns. :)

I was amazed by the size of their front court players. We had some issues with the bigs from UMASS and Cincinnati, but this team's size in the front court was just overwhelming. Rivers trying to guard Austin and Jefferson at times was just comical, though Walt and Leslee didn't fare much better.

A really athletic grad transfer in the 6'11"+ range would make me very, very happy. I hope we can make it happen.

Not just the size in the post, but the experience. Austin is a second-year sophomore, true, but Jefferson is a fifth-year senior who redshirted his second year. Plus, Austin was an injury away from leaving for the NBA after last year. Oh, for a little Ubel today (and all year, really). At least we'd have had five more fouls to give.

Austin did not impress me at all today.  He will struggle in the NBA unless he puts weight on.  The post players in the NBA will abuse him, and treat him like a whipping boy.  If not for the refs bailing him out quite often, Rivers who is 6 inches smaller was pushing him around, and the refs would call it everytime.  Also, he will have to learn how to guard in the NBA.  Right now, he plays in the zone and guards the rim.  Baylor, SHOULD NOT have to play zone with their length in the frontcourt, that is why Scott Drew gets the rap he does.  He is not that good of an in game coach.  Nebraska had open shot after open shot in the first half, but couldn't make any.  I guess he earns some kudos for letting them shoot.

Jefferson did impress me, but he is a senior.

Didn't appear to me that their size made that much of a difference. They didn't dramatically out rebound us or block a bunch of shots. We drove into the lane and scored fairly well. Probably should have done that a lot more, though. Their post players did do well scoring against us, though -- especially from the FT line.
