Hello Every one,

Good to be back.  The 2013 schedual has been out for a while. I have been wanting to play with it a little.  I propose a game called "Scheduleball" after the Espn article.  If you were Tim Miles and you could schedule any one to come in who would it be and why?

Explination of the Rules

Rules.

1.  RPI RULE:  The total RPI Score cannot exceed 90 and must not be below 225.   We play in the toughtest confrence in college basketball and have one of the toughtest schedules in the country every year.   In order to make tournement play we must be prudient with our scheduleing.  We have only the big dance 1 time with an RPI over 90 and no team has ever made a tournemt with a RPI highter then 225.

2.  20 WIN RULE: You must attempt  to schedule teams that will allow you to achieve a 20 win season.   Big programs like Duke have traditionally followed this model.  In order to achieve stability 20 wins, is the minimum

3.  2 YEAR RULE:  A home and home series must be scheduled and a minimum of 2 years are required.   You have to give someting to get something.  So pick where you and when you want to play your opponent on their court.  rule of thumb schedule when you are even or  have the advantage.

4.  1/2&1/2 RULE:  50% of the game must be playe at home, 50% on the road.  No staking playing all your game at home.  Not a real schedule

5.  RECRUTING RULE: When you play road games, they must also double as recuiting oppetuinties.   Expouser to the program is essentual, where do you want to show off the program? Finding good recuits is essental where do you want to recuit?

6.  PAY YOUR BILLS RULE:  Home games must draw crowds and achieve 20 wins at the same time.    You just built a new arena and practice facility you must fill it every home game, the game must be competitive. no automatic wins, no automatic losses.

7.  +14 RULE:  You can schedule more the 14 games if NCAA allows, but you must follow the half & half rule, the 2 year rule and the 20 win rule.  other teams play more then 14 games, I am not sure why or how that is but if you can justify it you can add it.

8.  TORUNEMENT RULE:  Tournament games follow the NCAA rules.    I am not sure of the rules of how torunaments count for or agains you.  I have read that there are excetpions here in order to get teams to participate.  I differ to the NCAA on this. What ever the rule is with the NCAA is the rule.

9.  EXIBITION RULE:  Exibition games  do not count.  As in real basketball the games don't count.  this can be good for you if you schedule more then one it can be used to help you team gel.  Just because it dosen't count dosen't mean it dosen't matter.

10. DiSCLOSER RULE:  You must explain why you made the choices you made them.  The purpose of this game is to see how you make decisions and why. You must explain yourself.

Including the topic title and the original post, there was scheduel, schedule and schedual.

You forgot schedyule.  (The games during Christmas break....)  :)

Shooting fish in a barrel, you are.

And it's a target-rich environment.

Where's the sport in that?

1.   USF - Away  CA

The basic Idea behind this schedual is Location and National Recognition. I tried to keep most of the games out side the big 10 foot print Drake, Drake, & Creighton  are the exceptions  Drake is a low raking school and will fit the bill for a cup cake that could be a good local rivalary and bring more people to the game. De Paul is nationally reckognized could also sell tickets and increase oppertunity for more recruting in Chicago.

USF must be University of San Francisco, right?  Not South Florida?

Why the requirement to schedule equal numbers of home and away games?  Not sure I agree that should be a requirement.

USF must be University of San Francisco, right?  Correct.   I think this is a great match up, in a great basketball region of the world against a tradition rich program.   Not South Florida?

Why the requirement to schedule equal numbers of home and away games?  Not sure I agree that should be a requirement.  it was primarily for simplicity,  the rules are flexable and can change. but if all things were equal it would be 7 home, 7 away.  We'll try it this way for now.  I look foreward to seeing your schedule.

Didn't spend a whole lot of time on it so I dont know how well I followed the rules, but a schedule like this really intrigues me. Probably on the tougher side when you add in conference play, but definitely a lot of oppourtunity for wins I believe. I tried to get us out on both coasts for recruiting purposes and bring in some names that people might actually know

The  schedule is intresting following the 2 year rule.  you will have, Xaiver, Cal, Georgia,Texas, De Paul, San Diego and Long beach at home the next year.  That will certianly sell tickets.

Yea, that schedule would definitely give us an RPI that definitely exceeds 90, but I dont really see a team on there that I dont think we have a chance of beating in a given year. Maybe Xavier. maybe...

Can someone please put Southern Utah on one of those fake schedules since I was a ball boy there in the 80's and my Dad taught there? Thanks :)

About half of those teams violate rule #1, though.

Hey you guys try planning a schedule, I would like to see what you think, it is not a easy as you think.

Apparently it is harder than using spell check.
