It's all in the details with emerging arena

"Nearly all of the red, 20-inch-wide vinyl seats are installed. Most are covered with construction dust that will be cleaned up before the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's summer graduation Aug. 16.

Crews installed retractable floor seating Friday.

The four-sided, high-definition scoreboard hanging above what will be center court is set to be programmed later this month.

The details are taking shape, as well.

Aisle markers that glow in the dark should make it easier to find one's seat.

Beer taps are installed in some concession stands, and hammered copper sinks are gleaming and ready to go in the 36 luxury suites.

Everything about the building has a sense of style."

They're holding graduation there in August, huh?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Don't know anyone graduating BUT ... I know where my future seats are ...  <_<

They'll probably have a good speaker, right?  ;)

This might be the first time in history that Nebraska's August commencement excercises will be sold out.   :o

Ha, Norm!  I actually had (briefly) the same idea when I read that article.  Why not go to the commencement ceremony just to check the place out?

I'd bet there'll be lots of folks at that graduation that might not otherwise have gone.  Think they'll have hot dogs?  You and I could sit and heckle the speakers from our lofty perch.  :)

"A concert venue, a bar with arcade games, a modern, upscale American restaurant and an authentic Mexican restaurant -- all original, locally owned businesses -- will be among new offerings in the West Haymarket."

Full story about the second round of businesses announced for the area can be found here:

I could post this over on the women's hoops board...but since this has to do with the arena just as much as the team I figure I'd post it here.  I know they are going to have a student section for the men's, but will there be a student section for the women's?  I know at the Bob they didn't have a designated student section...not that the students really turned out in support for the women in the same numbers that they did the men's team.  I went to a few games last year and you could hardly tell there were any students in the building except for the ones on the team or in the band.
