This sucks. Losing a recruiting battle to Auburn for a guy who maintained we were his number 1 for some time. Sigh. The beat goes on for NU.

My advice to you...... ;)

"Face it, tcp. You f**ked up! You trusted us!"

I think I'll just slink on down to Food King now.

Let's remember that this dude wasn't even a great prospect. He could have easily been a bust. Yes we need a big but who is to say Leslee Smith and Sai are worse. IMO Atewe wasn't a big loss at all. Kinda semed like a douche over twitter so im not too disappointed!

No matter what, in all likelihood Atewe would have been our sixth-best newcomer for 2013, behind Webster, Fuller, Pitchford, Petteway and Biggs. Heck, Hawkins, with his shooting ability, is probably a bigger impact guy that Atewe.

As long as we get a warm body to play in the front, I think we can be OK. Sai or Smith will be plenty fine for what we need. Get one of those two (hopefully both) and let's hunt for bear in 2014.

I twittered some of the guys that were in contact with Matthew the last few months to get there reaction and they thought talking to him that he was very quiet person and the Bigten stage and exposure would be too much for him to handle.

He is a big kid but his basketball skills and game experiences are very raw and he would be a project..

We got some long 6'6" to 6'8' guys that get on the boards.  I think a good 2 year JUCO is what is needed now and then a good set of bigs in 2014

This is a big blow no matter how we think Atewe would have turned out.  It was a guy we wanted and worked hard to get.  That being said its not the first and wont be the last recruit to turn us down.  There will be plenty of recruiting victories along the way too.  On to the next one!
