I'm not sure who said it first (maybe Matt?) but the Lawrence to Tai Webster comparison looks spot-on to me.

Not me, hadn't considered that before

Interesting thing is Ramel Lloyd was the most highly ranked freshman recruit.  Really hope he sticks around and continues to develop.  He is listed at 6'6" and 204lbs while Griesel is listed at 6'7" and 216 lbs.  Griesel is currently much bigger and stronger, but I would hope Ramel is more skilled and a better shooter.  If Ramel can get bigger and stronger, and continue to develop his skills, he could be a nice replacement to Griesel with a similar advantage of being a tall PG.  Having his height would also better facilitate Lawrence as a smaller 2 guard.

Ramel says he staying.   His NIL funds were held until the start of the semester; smart move by the collective.  He now says he's all in.  Time will tell but hope he plays here.

It was Thomas Allen with the candlestick in the K-State thread

If we're talking bare bones, basic fundamental basketball. Triple threat, dribbling, passing, shooting. Does Jamarques Lawrence not look like the most naturally fluid basketball player on the roster? His shooting mechanics are the best on the team, without question. Compact, no wasted motion. He dribbles with his hand on top of the ball, which is unheard of nowadays. Snaps crisp chest passes. He's turned the ball over 3 times in 80 minutes of gametime as a true freshman. I think he got some good coaching as a kid (and was coachable). When he's on the court and involved in the play, he just moves and looks like a guard being coached by Mark Few or Jay Wright. I know there's a lot more that goes into being a productive and effective college basketball player. I thought all these same things about Thomas Allen, but he clearly wasn't one of our best players when he was here. Hope JL sticks around so we can watch him progress.

Oleg could be a decent center someday, but he must get bigger and stronger. His biggest issue is that he can easily be pushed off the block when he is trying to rebound.  Even much smaller players can push him out, making him almost completely ineffective as a rebounder.  But he already is a more skilled offensive player than Keita.

I have been watching this kid in pregame for two years.  He definitely has the offensive skills necessary to succeed.  He needs to continue to add bulk...but if you remember what he looked like when he got here  he has made tremendous strides.

Hopefully he’s going to be one of those “why can’t we get a guy like this” players we always talk about.  They look big but don’t do much and then one year they kind of take off and blow up.
