I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I'm new here, so I'll ask.  I noticed that Ben McLaughlin was with Kent Pavelka at the Penn State game, and is also going to be in Ann Arbor tonight.  Where's Jake Muhleisen?

Thanks in advance.

Jake has a full time job at Union Bank so if there is a work or vacation conflict they find a fill-in. In fact, Jake filling in for Matt Davison for the same reasons is part of how he got the gig.

Is this a normal thing at other schools?  Any idea?

It strikes me as odd, but I can' t say I ever thought about it much before.

No idea. I think Kent and Jake and whomever are actually IMG employees.

More than it used to be.   In the old days they often just used radio station employees.   Now a lot of ex-players, etc. for color.    I think it is pretty prevalent to use locals for color who are not full time broadcasters.   We've had Davison, Markowski, Jake.    Matt Coatney is the play by play guy for women's basketball, and has always had a fulltime job outside of radio.

I miss Markowski. No offense to Jake, but I thought Markowski's color was often really insightful and it's probably because he was coaching on a high level for a time and so saw things in a way that even a high level player might not.

Jake was also a grad assistant for that eastern Omaha squad. But, yes, Andy worked as a full-fledged assistant at Bowling Green, as I recall....
