I'm possibly going to the Big 10 tournament, and looking for advice from someone who has previously attended one. I know we can buy all session tickets from the University until tomorrow for $290 for the cheap seats.

I'm only interested in attending the sessions we play in. The question I have is am I better off buying individual tickets on StubHub as each game comes up as we advance, or is buying the all session ticket from UNL and selling the extra session tickets I'm not going to (if that's possible) on StubHub?

I want to spend as little as possible, and currently the tickets for the Thursday session are reasonable, but by Saturday they are already going for $130. I just don't know how much selling goes on during the tournament as teams are eliminated and if prices tend to go up or down.

I would pony up for the lowers (which you still should be able to get) as they go better in the secondary market and are just $110 for the whole tourney. In Chicago there are all kinds of persons buying and selling outside but it has to be a little bit on the down low there as there sometimes is some actual policing.

The difference between the lowers and uppers view wise is significant in United Center imho.

If you really want to go on the cheap, I would just buy individuals for each session we are in as the first few days are fairly cheap outside or online in my experience. I generally have gone and want to watch the whole tourney and imho $400 feels like a really good deal for all lowers. It is A LOT of basketball however. Some LONG days if you choose to go to all the games. There is not a lot to do RIGHT around United Center but there's usually a beer tent set up outside that everyone tries to jam into between the sessions. It's wise to try and get in there early. I like Chicago better than Indy as a town, but would much rather go to Indy for the event because of it's proximity to everything. Also the arena is more basketball centric. That being said, Chicago isn't bad as there is a special bus that heads straight to the United Center or you can take the L on two different lines that both end up about 4-5 blocks from the United Center.

Hope that's of some help!

I'd get the whole package and roll the dice. If you love basketball, it's still fun if we lose. Otherwise, buy the first day and then just pick up tickets after that when we win. Most people go home after their team loses, so there are plenty scalped or online.

Callous but true -- I worked with a guy who told me he got the best, cheapest seats by approaching the fans whose team just lost and asking if they wanted to sell any of their next game's tickets. Sure enough, I've been to both the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA and had someone approach me about buying my subsequent tickets. I kinda wanted to punch him (and I personally only had single-day) but I'm pretty sure others around me had future games they unloaded and cut their losses. If you have some nerve and don't mind a little bit of a gamble, that can be one way to get decent seats on the cheap.

Personally, I don't think it's a bad system. It's hard to spend money on the whole package if you don't know how far you'll advance. The scalpers hit the losers on the way out,  ask who wants to sell. The winners usually stay longer celebrating, and when they come out, the scalpers ask who wants to buy. Kind of like Trading Places, if somebody wants to put up a video today.

Wait... What?!? We're going to qualify for the B1G Tournament? I thought the Rutger's loss was an automatic DQ...

Shoot, even Rutgers has more B1G tourney wins than NU (since Rutgers joined). Ufftah.

It IS a lot of basketball but I love going for the whole thing too ... plus there's a lot to do in Chicago in the little free time you might find. It's fun to see the other fan bases and whatnot. Nebraska, Rutgers and Penn St are always the least represented so it's kind of hard to find any comraderie. If one stays downtown, hotel prices aren't astronomical but aren't cheap. Flights are usually reasonable to Chicago too.
