aphilso1 Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 I'd be stoked to play that no-talent egg-laying Nevada team . Couldn't ask for an easier way of getting that first NCAA Tourney win. Quote

GBR1197 Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Can you imagine what Deandre Ayton could do against us? Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Hopefully we're booking our tickets to Dayton. It's too bad Nevada just took either Arizona State, Oklahoma, or Notre Dame out of the tournament. TomEadesSucks 1 Quote

FredsSlacks Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 not sure how ucla gets in over us. Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Arkansas was pretty cleanly in, but man oh man... we'd be looking at a #4/#9 and #2/#6 semifinals tomorrow. Quote

FredsSlacks Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 (edited) who do we want in usc vs oregon? would hate to see oregon get that autobid, but usc probably clinches a spot with a win anyways. Edited March 10, 2018 by TimSmiles Quote

royalfan Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 It is a tough one. With Nevada losing we may need to take the gamble that Oregon loses tomorrow and they don't take USC. The more shots we have to have a bid open up, we probably need to pull for at this point. Arizona has a large contingent of fans there, so they will have the edge that way. Oregon will be playing an extra game. This also assumes Oregon not in with a win tonight. What we do know is that USC probably is in for sure with a win tonight. We probably have to root for them to lose with that being the case. In addition, an Oregon win eliminates a UCLA Q1 home win potentially over USC. TomEadesSucks 1 Quote
swoof Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Trier was out when Oregon beat Arizona in OT here a couple weeks ago. I just don't see Oregon be able to keep up with Trier and Ayton on a neutral court. Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Even if the number of active bubble teams are diminishing and there aren't make of our opponents remaining, tomorrow is a crucial day. There are 14 autobids that will be sealed tomorrow with 5 more on Sunday. One misstep could make the bubble that much thinner. Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 USC's mascot is pretty creepy too. Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 During the Oregon/USC broadcast: "Howie says USC will still be in the tournament even if they lose this game. They are currently a 10 seed, but if they lose this game they will be in the play-in game as a 12 seed." Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Remaining games of interest tonight: Oregon/USC: 23-37 Halftime Seattle/New Mexico State: 43-37 Halftime Quote
FredsSlacks Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 if usc hangs on and no unexpected auto bids, you got these 14 teams fighting for 5 spots UCLA Texas Oklahoma Alabama Middle Tennessee Louisville Oklahoma State Notre Dame Arizona State Syracuse Marquette Baylor Penn State Nebraska Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 It really comes down to how much they truly value early/late season games. Pundits keep saying all games are equal, but Rasmussen has hinted otherwise (that sites, injuries, significance of the game, etc. matters). Quote

You know, if you go by the own different conferences tv broadcasts, there’s like 200 teams that should be in on Sunday. Just dont ask BTN. No room for 201. Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 What stings about Nevada is that they have an RPI of 12, SOR of 33, and BPI of 28. Great numbers. However, they are: Q1: 2-2 (Wins: vs. URI, at BSU) Q2: 5-3 (Wins: vs. BSU, at Fresno St, at UC Irvine, at UNLV, at UNLV) Then 2 Q3 losses (vs. UNLV, neut. San Francisco). None of those teams will be in the tournament. Maybe Nevada doesn't end up getting selected? One can hope. Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 "Nobody's going to want to face this USC team in the tournament. They're as dangerous as it gets." Paaaa-leaaase. Quote

It shouldn't but it does. There's too much hype associated with too many of those entries for us to overcome. Sigh. What a bittersweet season this will end up as. Quote
