Bucknell plays less D than Michigan oh my.

The WNIT looses two more Big Ten teams today. Minnesota lost to South Dakota 101-98, and Rutgers lost to Virginia 71-55.

Over in the ESPN tournament 4 seed Michigan State loses to 5 seed Mississippi St 74-71 in Starkville. What makes this loss hurt even more is that it was originally to be played in East Lansing but do to scheduling conflicts with the Spartans arena they had to move it to Mississippi. Ohio St plays Tennessee in Sioux Falls next week and Indiana goes up against Notre Dame Monday night. And Maryland plays Washington for the right to advance to the sweet 16 tomorrow also.

I think the WNIT Yotes vs Gophers final score was actually 101-89.  Yotes were up by 18 at one point and instead of trying to run clock, they just kept attacking.  Ten Yote players with 10+ minutes in the game.

so little bitty USD took it to the mighty Banhams.  I thought super Banham could score 115 all by herself if needed.  Just joking after what Minny did to us. And SDSU did a pretty good job in the NCAA's on Saturday.  Now if they can take down Stanford today.

SDSU just about gave it away, but, glad to see they pulled it out.

might want to keep an eye on former husker amy williams. if she keeps usd producing like they have been, she's going to get some pretty tempting offers in the very near future. now, whether she is happy to remain in vermillion, who knows.

Good things are happening at USD.  They really deserved an at-large bid to the NCAAs, and they have several brand new facilities that have either just opened or will open in the near future.  Good community support as well, and a solid academic school.

B1G has not done well in either Men's or Women's tournaments.  After personally watching every Big XII team in Austin  (except Texas Tech) it seemed to me that B1G was superior.  Tournament results don't bear that out.  Kansas St. getting a win was unexpected, OK State losing not so much (Brittany Martin is a very nice player)    Baylor and Texas are both superior to Ohio St. and Maryland.  I was really taken back by how easily OU dispatched of Purdue but Sherry Coale knows what she is doing.  B1G Women's BB is on the rise but has a way to go to get to the top level.

Michigan is still standing in the WNIT. They've played every game on their home court as they haven't had to go on the road yet. They face Temple in the quarterfinals in Ann Arbor Monday night.

Ohio St on the other hand got clobbered by Tennessee 78-62 eliminating all B1G teams from the NCAA tournament.

And looked silly in the losing.

Kind of had thought the B1G would have decent showings in the tourneys. Turns out the B1G overall really wasn't all that much of a threat to the big picture of NCAA women's Bball this year.

The way all the B1G teams beat each other up this year, kind of was a foretelling of what would happen at years end. No real dominating teams....OSU, and Maryland, particularly, had their moments....but mixed in even for them... were unexpected losses.

Watching some of the tourney teams playing and winning...the B1G has a way to go.

Just hope we can have a relatively healthy next year, so we can come closer to our real potential. We have some talent, and more coming in....got to be pretty optimistic looking forward.

The PAC 12 has been the dominant force of the Tournament save for Arizona St. losing to Tennessee on their home court.  Washington is a fun team to watch, Stanford is much improved from earlier in the season and Oregon State has a "chance" against Baylor.  A small one.

Amy Gusso Williams keeps bringing it.  Up big in the WNIT over Oregon.  68-32 after 3.

EDIT:  88-54 final.  At one point they were 14-19 from 3.  One of the Bradleys from Norfolk getting time.

This is the same Oregon team that beat current final 4 Washington team by 12 late in the season on the road. Smoked by the Yotes!!

Stick a fork in the B1G women's basketball season, Michigan's run in the WNIT ended tonight when they had to go on the road to Florida Gulf Coast. FGCU now faces NU alum's Amy Gusso Williams South Dakota team for the championship in Vermillion Saturday at 1 o'clock.
