Questions for season ticket holders
Husker4theSpurs replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
We renewed our 4 tickets in the lower bowl. If they weren't where they are I may not have ... just worried I'd regret getting rid of them. I often give them to my nephews and nieces and friends who still live in Lincoln (we are in Papillion now). Our kids are getting old enough to want to go, but busy enough that we're less likely to. I've had season tickets since I was 16 on some level (31 years now) so I'm just a sadist Nebrasketball fan I guess. :) I would imagine I'll attend half the games or so. Mid week 8pm games are kind of tough as I get back here around 11pm. With us still sucking we get stuck in that time slot a lot. I put in a request to "upgrade" so I'll see what's out there when seat yourself comes open, but I'll likely stay put as we're on an aisle. -
Better gig ... more stable and successful. Good move by him ... surprised? they want him.

Sipple enters the transfer portal
Husker4theSpurs replied to jimmykc's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
OWH and LJS are both owned by Lee now, so they're slimming everything down and having symmetry between the two ... even if Sip wasn't going to be let go or the like, it's not a bad time to take a new, likely more secure gig into the home stretch of one's career. I enjoy listening to Sip talk football and sports on the radio but I don't find his opinion articles and the like particularly insightful, but that's OK. -
There are only 60 members up there but I'd imagine quite a few are from Lincoln.

Nebraska (7-17) vs Iowa (15-7)*
Husker4theSpurs replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It's like when my friends compliment me on the golf course for my ability to punch out of the crap or under a tree ... I've had a lot of practice with that. -
Three losing seasons in a row for the first time since the 1960s is not exactly a great fact either. Probably one of the most disappointing seasons in history following the 2014 NCAA bid when we went from 11-10 to white hot.

Just talking out loud here a bit ... if there's not a bunch of crap going on behind the scenes that Trev finds especially unforgivable and irreparable I think Fred will be approached about restructuring much like Frost was, but I'm not so apt to think Fred will accept it. This may force Trev's hand and he would move forward with firing or leave it alone for another year. I'm not so sure Fred is hoping to continue at this point. I would imagine a bit of time out of the game and a potential front office job in the NBA or the like might be more his speed at this point. I don't know ... I'm just brainstorming here. There are a lot of diehards in here ... we've been through a whole lot of mediocre basketball through the years, but this is epically bad ... the last decade especially (save for a hot streak in 2014). It felt a lot better being moderately competitive and especially under-talented with a lot of our past teams in comparison to this crap. I am remaining a season ticket holder, but just barely. This is by far the least amount of home games I've ever attended going back to 30 years of season tickets (and I even lived 2 hours away in the beginning).

Which interview was that?

I've had season tickets on some level or another for 30 years (parents before me, then college, etc) but I'm seriously considering not renewing. It's hard to get to games now being in Omaha and having two little ones who are busy, let alone mention that the basketball is AWFUL and that I can't even give tickets away. I did not expect to feel this way at this point.

I blame Ryan Anderson for all of this. I sentence him to having to run the stairs at the Devaney yet again and having his coach forget he had him do so and then immediately throwing him into 5 on 5s full court and chewing him out for dragging.

I never said he didn't.

Total blowhard.

2021 PG TyTy Washington -> Kentucky
Husker4theSpurs replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Well they're in a tough place because a lot of their donors are likely not fans of "cancel culture" and they risk losing those wallets a bit if they were to have fired McDermott off the bat. They're probably letting it play out and it'll still result in him being let go eventually as he just won't be able to recruit well enough in the short term. -
Tim Miles's dream job was Minnesota, but I don't think he'll be up for consideration. I personally think Minnesota should go after Craig Smith. He knows the area ... he's a good coach .... he'd be a really good, sneaky get. Minnesota has a lot of potential but they probably expect a slight bit more than they should there. That being said they lose a lot of their in state talent and it especially hurts when quite a bit of it heads down to Madison, Wisconsin over the years.

Teddy Allen no Longer with the Program
Husker4theSpurs replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Not surprising, but figured he'd make it through the season. Probably fairly mutual for him to shut it down. He sat the other day and we won--he probably didn't like that so much. Always strange when a guy has 41 a week or so ago and then quits shortly thereafter, but oh well. It's kind of like football--when you're lacking talent, you hate to see an obvious talent leave, but also sometimes someone can be one of your better players and you aren't exactly certain if you're better with or without them. Doesn't exactly reek of a team player to quit on your team no matter the time of year, but we also knew what we were getting here on some level. -
You are correct on the game and the black uniforms. We had an old satellite dish and I was searching for the game with little luck and then I came across the game and saw us wearing black and thought I was on the wrong game. I was fired up when I realized what was up and we had our black unis on.

Nick Bahe podcast w/ Matt Abdelmassih

Starting to get a little wary of all the proclamations from Coach A about players. It was a good talk however. I was surprised to hear him speak so highly of Lat Mayen. -
Recruits may want to stay closer to home given the pandemic we are facing too. I'm sure Holberg's supposed philosophy was used against him, but to be honest Ouedraougo had a few too many chances in the paint last year for my liking so I'm sure Sanogo would've seen plenty of opportunities. Hoping we didn't take his likely signing for granted.
