I don't like this signing ... I'm all for second chances, but the domestic violence issue is hard for me to overlook.

I agree I'm glad to see the swag, but while Mack was calling on the crowd he lost his guy twice with the last resulting in an open 3 pointer that fortunately they missed.

He sure did ... I'd like to see that happen more frequently.

- We sure do celebrate a lot after a make (Mack especially) and then give up layup after layup on the other end. - We seem slow laterally for all the increased athleticism we seem to have. - I've been surprised at Burke's minutes overall. - Free throw shooting ... ugh! - If we get out rebounded like this by these teams I can't even fathom how bad this will be come conference time. - I've been more impressed with the offensive skills of Ouegraogo and Kevin Cross, but man Cross is like a black hole ... toss the ball to him and it's not coming back likely. (I kind of expected they each would be more limited ability-wise) - Defense is NOT up to par. Nice to get a win! It will be interesting to see this team grow and change and see who's asked to stick around.

Heiman IS redshirting this year for USD.

I was a bit disappointed by the enthusiasm of the crowd for an opening game with a new, prominent coach. But I guess it was 8pm mid-week as well. After that opening 14 points in the first 4 minutes, I never thought we'd end up with such a low score. As so many here have said, it's gonna take time and this team is going to be all over the place this year. They seem to be overthinking a little bit right now with the "shoot a 3 or drive" philosophy. I'm sure it will become more like second nature as the team gets more experience. Lots of growing to do. Hope I can keep my perspective that this year will be whatever it's gonna be.

I will miss Sharp and Benning. I do think Sharp can pull off the solo show. I will miss Severe talking with Dirk about most anything, but that's about it. Not looking forward to him and Benning together--I feel like Mike'l often speaks on sports issues he doesn't know much about. Never a fan of Unsportsmanlike Conduct, unless Sip is on :)

Doc himself said he is a good defensive coach and a mediocre offensive coach. Seems to me Hoiberg coaches offense, Sadler coaches D, and Gates and (especially) Abdelmassih focus on recruiting.

The only one I wish we had was Thomas Allen, but he seemed gone mid-year on just judging from body language.

I would love to be able to cheer for Roby as a Spur!

I can't blame them ... our basketball tickets have been beyond reasonable for a long time. People talk about sellouts, etc. but that's partly why. Not saying we don't have great fans because we do, but it's a relative bargain for something to do in the winter for even the most casual fan.

Up a total of $250 ... to a total of $2200 or so for 4 tickets plus parking. $400 in donations and $1800 or so for the tickets, fees and parking. If I'm not mistaken they are charging $20 for the season ticket card this year (and all other options as well) which is an additional expense compared to prior years. I think I calculated about $31/ticket/game including donations. Very reasonable imho.

I think overall for our 4 tickets in upper rows of the 100 section it appears our price including donation is up about $250 total or so. (including parking)

That's assuming Roby was really disappointed Miles was fired. Roby himself said today (yesterday?) that basically Hoiberg being hired made it more difficult for him to leave.

They have not missed on many of their targets!

Heard Amir and Karrington were asked to leave last weekend.

After Heiman airballed that layup in the B1G Tourney it just felt like that was a pivotal moment. Obviously Miles lost all faith after that. Unfortunately scholarships are 1 year renewable agreements. They work both ways -- players can choose to leave as well without being asked. That being said, I am pro-athletes in that I feel like they need ongoing freedoms to leave and receive pay and/or stipend (a whole other issue). My guess is Washut dropped the info because he wasn't told not to, but was contacted shortly afterward and removed it. One would hope the staff would be talking with the kids before being a source to the media, but that's not always the reality. Hoiberg and crew value being able to shoot above all else ... Heiman, Amir and Thor all are not known as being able to shoot. Sadly, that was an ongoing problem for Miles's recruits. It's been a problem in the program for quite some time. I can't really remember that many players over the last 15 years who really worried another team with their shooting. Was Paul Velander in that 15 year time frame?

It's a good way to keep his options open. Honestly I think he's more likely to stay here with a new coach than if Miles had been retained, but that's just speculation on my part.

What a fun game! These guys continue to amaze me with their ongoing effort. Great job by the crowd willing the team to stick in there when it was tough early. If you'd said Butler scored 76 before the game, I'd have a hard time believing we won. Scrappy effort and it was fun to see it get a bit chippy out there with the competitive juices flowing. What an interesting situation we have here ... never a dull moment!

You have your beefs and that's fair. Moos has only been here for one season btw. Miles has had his chances. Yes, he could've been "supported" more with more of an extension, but he has had resources that far exceed many other jobs including other Power 5 jobs. There are lots of things that go on behind the scenes or could go on behind the scenes that many of us may not be aware of. I'm gonna let those guys do their job. The administration didn't feel comfortable investing more money and time in Miles. What I don't understand is why didn't they structure a new extension that looks like more support (5 years) but involves the same amount of buyout money--would've been the best of both worlds imho. Miles gets more "support" in terms of being able to recruit and the University is on the hook for the same amount of money. No sense in worrying about that now though ...

ADs like to be at the tourney and hobnob with each other ... it's a nice event for a lot of reasons. I would imagine Moos had plans to go spend time with his son and family before their Spring Game as well. I don't think he was just chomping at the bit to be there just to fire Miles on Wednesday. We basically HAVE (and have had) a separate AD that oversees basketball in Boehm so I don't think it's a huge deal Moos isn't constantly around basketball. Will we see more of him with a new coach? I absolutely think so. My guess is Green and Bounds also aren't comfortable putting a ton of money behind Miles because they don't see him as the long term answer. I do think we are ready to commit more fully to hoops however. Miles had 7 years to get it done and there really wasn't anything that was being "built" as far as I could see and we had the worst 3 year stretch in over 60 years (one year which included a preseason Top 25 team). In all of the awfulness that has been Nebrasketball that's really saying something. Miles has been a great promoter of the program and is well liked (and does a nice job of utilizing and developing a relationship with the media). All of this was done with better recruiting (but a strangely similar record). Miles himself said his tenure rode on the best HS class he had -- Morrow, Watson, Jacobsen, and McVeigh. Only one lasted the full 4-5 years and 2 of them are contributors elsewhere. When you have people who are starters leaving and having success elsewhere it's not a great sign. Morrow himself said he didn't want to leave, but felt he had to. He and Jacobsen left mostly because they didn't want to play the 5 and we couldn't keep a true 5 here or recruit a decent one. Now both of those guys are playing the 5 or a position close to their old position and having success. Now there's this sudden burst of optimist because of the feel goods of the tourney. I was there -- it did feel nice -- but I have to say it seems the only time Miles's teams have played well has been when they have nothing to lose. We were AWFUL earlier in the 2013-14 season and got hot late. That was fun, but Miles himself said it may have been a year too early. Better then than never though. I'm rambling. I'm just saying 7 years is a pretty decent run ANYWHERE, let alone here. For someone with Miles's record it's especially a decent amount of time to be around.

Unfortunately, on paper this team was worse than last coming in ... I have always felt this way. Of course this is assuming those coming back don't improve ... which tends to be safe under Miles.
