  1. We are going to have to agree to disagree ... there's not really a better way to handle this for the most part ... it's a difficult situation.
  2. Only if you mean it's Moos solely who's involved ... Miles himself said there are people above that have opinions too and likely when hiring Moos filled him in on those sentiments as well. When I say the admin ... I mean Bounds and Green as well.
  3. I don't agree, but please explain more.
  4. I think the University admin would like to see a coaching change ... I also think they are ready to pony up and put a lot more emphasis on hoops success (all arguments about lack of support in past do hold some water) ... but I don't think they feel like Miles is the guy they want for this next level of support increase (pay, etc.). No, it's probably not fair, but it's just how it is right now. Yes, he's been a bit left in the lurch the last few years.
  5. Also for all intents and purposes Marc Boehm has been acting AD for hoops for quite some time ... the restructuring has changed that. Moos is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't in this situation. I think his statement could've included at least an acknowledgment of the run in the tourney, but otherwise it's following his typical policy of not making decisions (or making decisions public) during the season. People here are emotional about things ... fans are emotional right now too ... logic goes out the window and I imagine the administration knows that. You open yourself up to a lot more backlash by making a decision right now. Fire him and refuse an NIT bid and people cry out because we had a nice run in the tourney in Chicago and didn't get to follow it up at all. No win situation ...
  6. This is not necessarily true ... Osborne thought well of Moos and the new University leadership and that meant a lot to Frost ... but of course that is a side point. Again, it's more good timing for Moos that a former player was a sought after coach than skill, but still he had to pass the "test" for several people close to Frost.
  7. A lot of the fans around me today didn't really know what those on this board know as far as the whole progression of the season, etc. Given all the goodwill surrounding Miles right now after this late run in the tourney, it's maybe not the most sensical thing to give him the axe right after the game. From what I've heard Moos told Miles he'd have a statement within an hour after the game, so he felt he had to say SOMETHING. Pretty sure Moos would be catching crap no matter what he had done or said after the game.
  8. And if you don't have a coach committed you need more time ... and the chance to have Miles back if you really strike out badly.
  9. I believe that and you believe that but the masses don't necessarily.
  10. He said he evaluates after the season is done and this is consistent with that. If he doesn't have someone lined up, it buys him more time. I would imagine we reached out to Altman's people and he didn't want to come here but used it to secure a quick extension (I don't even know that it means we offered Altman, just that any contact was used as leverage for an immediate extension by his people). To me it means he wants to fire him, but doesn't have anything secured ... otherwise, I agree that you let him go and let the assistants coach the team in the NIT or refuse the bid. I can imagine after the positive feelings of the B1G tourney that would not look so good however.
  11. Or maybe until Altman declined :)
  12. I was SO worried Heiman's obvious nerves on that missed lay-in (set up beautifully by Trueblood) would be contagious. Great job by the team yesterday! Can't wait to cheer them on today -- unbelievable!
  13. Super proud of the guys. Nice showing of Husker fans too ... easily the most of any time I've been at the B1G tourney. Nice to have a team to root for going forward. Gonna be a quick turnaround and we will likely need more minutes from Brady tomorrow.
  14. Why would we assume everyone will return if Miles is retained? I would bet Thomas Allen would transfer if Miles stayed ... I think there's a better chance Roby stays if Miles is fired than if he's retained.
  15. Glad I moved my flight up :( I had planned on skipping the games Wed night in Chicago. Seems like we end up v PSU a lot in the tourney.
  16. Should there be one, this hire is possibly the biggest in the history of the program ... given the state of our fan support (extremely solid, especially given the recent record) and facilities this may be our best opportunity to really reach for a solid, established coach. Not saying a mid-major won't be the choice or shouldn't be the choice, but ... this should be fun down the stretch. It will hurt a great deal if it feels like we really settle and/or can't get anyone of note to take interest. There would be a lot of freedom here for the next coach without a lot of the expectations of other places ... a blank slate if you will ... and solid, solid facilities to recruit to. However, we all are aware of the historical limitations.
  17. Yes, that guy was right near us ... in section 119 I believe. He got a talking to by security ... and people were mocking him a bit.
  18. Great energy and movement tonight for the most part and we looked like we wanted to be out there. I was pretty impressed with the crowd given the weather and circumstances. There is still hope ... I'm not confident, but there's hope. If we beat PSU ... and then that Purdue game becomes HUGE. We have to have a lot of things going right each game from here out to win them ... can be done, but we shall see.
  19. I wasn't able to see a lot of the game but when I was watching early I thought "man, we don't want to be out here tonight." We kept fighting -- wasn't pretty but we will all take it. I know it's been a long stretch, but man someone needs to tell Watson's face we actually won. Those last two calls were very iffy ... if I'm being honest the last foul (not considering anything else that happened throughout the game) is a no call. I'm also a huge believer charge is called far too often in hoops and makes for uglier basketball, but I am glad Roby got that call. We are TECHNICALLY alive, but I just don't know if there are enough wins out there for us. Hopefully we can make a case for ourselves down the stretch and see just how important that NET rating truly is to the committee.
  20. Kevin Kugler had some not so kind words for one particular fan he saw go after Turgeon after the game. Was on Nick Bahe's radio show today.
  21. I agree ... it's part of the game now ... and it was essential to our improvement in talent for sure. I sometimes wonder if it wasn't how Miles wanted to "build" his program (so much), but the early NCAA bid led him to lean more on transfers (again, I agree we need them) and not focus on roster management and high school kids. Or, more likely, it was just hard to get people here he wanted and he basically just took the best available often enough that we end up with a roster where many of our players don't necessarily have a true position.
  22. No, it's just for relying so HEAVILY on the transfer market and not doing a good job developing depth.
  23. I read a stat that said Miles had beaten ONE Power 5 (6) school that had a >0.500 conference record in the last 53 games. Not sure how accurate that is, but it can't be too far off.
