  1. @JonRothstein: Nebraska freshman PG Tarin Smith has played 20 or minutes in three consecutive games. Only two TO's during that span. New Jersey native. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. The Gopher Rivals site has a free article here on last night's game. It's fairly upbeat, given all their tough-luck circumstances of late. But here's how it starts out: "The Nebraska Cornhuskers have defeated the Minnesota Gophers three times in a row. Let that sink in." Pretty funny and kinda cool, all at the same time.
  3. Gotta love Benny and his effort at the end of the game--without him at the end, we probably don't win. Things were getting a bit dicey, for example, with a couple minutes or so left--on the defensive end, Benny made a couple significant plays and ended up with the ball, then on the following offensive end he saved a turnover, drove to the hoop and got fouled, then made two free-throws. Huge!!
  4. Loved that the refs got the crowd into the game. Without their technical assistance (which only cost one point per technical--thanks to Minni's ineptitude there), the crowd might have been much less intimidating. So, a big thanks to the refs for providing a huge assist to the Huskers (normally, refs do that with close calls in favor of the home team) but the opposite got the crowd going tonight--big time!! Edit: just now saw the "Boom" video above--wow.
  5. Wow. Pretty impressive. Check out his two blocks on the same possession--around the 2:00 minute mark.
  6. It does seem to be a matter of perspective, to some degree. For example, in the Iowa game immediately after Rivers is called for that no-contact / bogus foul, the Iowa coach seems to think the refs miss a call against Nebraska at the other end of the Court and, in hs typical passive / aggressive style, goes ballistic on the refs--as if the gift against Rivers were somehow earned.

  8. A "center like (Jahlil) Okafor and Cliff (Alexander)"?! It's obvious from available videos that Ed's role on his high school team is as a back-to-the-basket center. Any chance he could serve that same role for the Huskers? Regarding Ed's height, Brian Rosenthall reported back on May 31, 2014: "Morrow, who recently turned 17, said he’s still growing, that he’s gone from 6-foot-6 at the start of last season, to his current 6-7½. Both measurements, he said, are without shoes." With shoes, he has to be 6-9, right? Tim Miles said some time ago that he views 6-9 to 6-11 measurements as functionally equivalent.. Unless he's wearing heels, shoes don't add 1 1/2 inches. I'd bet he'd measure about 6-8 in shoes. Ha! Agreed . . . if everyone uses accurate measures. But height lying seems to be a bit rampant in all competetive basketball contexts--it just seems harder to do so when talking about measurement in socks. Shoes have a potential "riser" effect. For example, here is a 1.25 inch shoe riser effect: The official measurements of Kevin Durant on the Dredraft Express Website are: . . . Height Without Shoes: 6′ 9″ Height With Shoes: 6′ 10.25″
  9. @RobinWashut: Hopefully #B1G follows suit MT @DavidGlennShow: Multiple sources say ACC is ending its relationship with controversial BB official Karl Hess
  10. @HuskerHC: Tim Miles doesn't like to talk injuries. I think we find out more specifics about Nick Fuller when the season ends that explains slow start.
  11. They're baa-aack: Leslee Smith, Old Testament, and the team as a whole!!!

  14. A bunch of naysayers on this one?!! Scheesch. Actually watch the video posted above against Bolden--a 2014 player (McVeigh is 2015), ranked the # 32 Rivals four-star (about the same size as McVeigh). Even though McVeigh's "forte" is shooting threes (when the Husker coaches visited, he hit 14 of his first 15 three-point shots--so says the Journal Star), he is quite capable in the video of taking the ball to the rim against Bolden on multiple occasions and in multiple ways--he's mixing it up big-time inside, and scoring.
  15. Hammond, by the way, had a nice block last night in three minutes of work. He stuffed one of Iowa's bigs on a drive to the basket, and the Iowa player carried the blocked shot out of bounds--turnover to the good guys.

  17. Perhaps you need stronger glasses? Sometimes it's helpful to wipe fingerprints from the touchscreen. And sometimes it helps to hold the screen at arm's length. ... ... ... Dummies?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Score doesn't look so good at the end--seems like we never win the trading-fouls-for-field-goals war from behind. However, with Nebraska playing short handed, without our two post players, and getting those two post guys back in a few games, in light of last year's end of season run, gotta keep the chin up!! And Tarin is starting to make a mark on these games!
  19. According to Huskers.com, three-point stats thus far in 2014-2015 for Benny and Tarin are: Benny 8 for 19 -- .421 Tarin. 3 for 9 -- .333 So, here's a suggestion to both of them, based on current circumstances: keep on shooting, don't stop shooting.
  20. Norm likes his shooting mechanics!!! Go get him.
  21. Akoy Agau is visiting Georgetown today and tomorrow--will be attending tomorrow's Creighton game there.
  22. Giving up on the season?! Seriously?! Wow. Glad the team doesn't need any kind of actual support or perseverance from posters on this board. Sheesh!
  23. He is standing behind the others. It's an optical illusion. I took the picture and am much shorter than all of them--a bad angle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
