  1. A Michigan State board at least has a thread on Chukwu--although it's a short one without much activity: http://www.scout.com/college/michigan-state/forums/2655-spartan-basketball/13874227-paschal-chukwu-7-ft-2-in-226-lb-transfer. A Michigan board, on the other hand, has no Chukwu thread. Moreover, Michigan has two 6'10" recruits and one 6'9" recruit committed for the next two years, and Wolverine posters are complaining that these commits are Max Bielfeldt clones. There has to be some humor in all this somewhere.
  2. The Kansas Phog message board on basketball (a freebie) has a 9 page string on Chukwu. Here is a post from 2:52 o'clock this afternoon showing how weird all this recruiting stuff gets: "Re: Paschal Chukwu Leaving Providence 2:52 PM Is there actual confirmation that he is actually on campus? This seems like a whole bunch of useless speculation until that is confirmed." No one has responded to that post as of yet (3:35 p.m.). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Here is a Kansas fans' perspective on the Chukwu vs. Coleby comparison: http://www.scout.com/college/kansas/forums/2481-hoops-talk/13879112-ole-miss-transfer-dwight-coleby-visiting-this-weekend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Coleby has two years of eligibility left. Chukwu has three.
  5. It's definitely NOT from any inside information. Could be a gut rumbling. Possibly a brain fart. Maybe just early Alzheimers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. https://twitter.com/robinwashut/status/604066881318739968 So . . . I'm calling it: Chukwu picks the Huskers as a scholarship player, and Bielfeldt picks the Huskers as a walk-on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Have you ever seen the play, "I'm not Rappaport" where two old guy are talking and one keeps calling the other " Rappaport" and telling him how much he has changed, while the other keeps saying "I'm not Rappaport"? It's sort of like that. In this thread we keep talking about imminent word from Dickerson that he is on his way here while Burno denies that Dickerson is a target and Dickerson keeps mentioning other teams--but never Nebraska. We kept this up until very recently--just like Rappaport. What didn't make sense is that Nebrasketball seems to be a perfect fit for Dickerson with Burno on board and Dickerson de-committing and Burno apparently being his primary contact and Nebraska needing bigs and all. Turns out, it seems . . . Chukwu is the target all along. Not Dickerson. And Burno was being genuine all along (not merely doing coach speak) in denying that Dickerson is a target.
  8. Perhaps the Paschal Chukwu developments explain 95% of everything in this thread that didn't seem to make sense at the time?
  9. This is from a Kansas news source dated a couple days ago: “Great things are going to happen with him,” Providence coach Ed Cooley told the Fairfield Citizen newspaper just days before Chukwu decided to transfer. “I can’t brag enough about him. I’m as high on him as any kid I’ve ever recruited and I know his best is yet to come. He should have a heck of a run from here on out. I’m excited as I can be about him. “He’s got really good hands. He’s got a great touch. He can score around the basket. His biggest growth is going to come from strength. Once he gets stronger and is not moved out of the post ... that development in him will help him get to another level,” Cooley added.
  10. i don't believe we can have both. I would prefer paschal. I think max might make us 1-2 games better for the upcoming season, but paschal could be an nba center with a year of development and we would possibly get 3 full seasons of him. We can have both. One would have to pay his own way. It's happened before.
  11. Here is a July 31, 2012 , Rivals article on him: https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1391023 Here is a blurb: "With so little formal basketball training, it's safe to say that the Nigerian's potential is downright frightening. His coach went on to say that, "He doesn't even know how to dunk the ball yet he's so raw, it's going to be scary how good he'll be after some time getting coached. There's no reason that he can't one day be a pro. As we mentioned earlier, Chukwu's circle wishes to keep many of the schools recruiting him a secret. But schools like Seton Hall, Cincinnati, Kansas, Virginia Tech, and Pittsburgh where seen at his AAU games this past month; while Xavier, Connecticut, and Providence are believed to have reached out."
  12. "Paschal Chukwu, a 7-foot-2, 225-pound center who has announced plans to leave Providence after his freshman year, will visit Kansas University the first weekend of June, Chukwu told Jayhawkslant.com on Friday. Chukwu said he is also planning a trip to Nebraska."

  14. My source is nowhere near the situation. Actually . . . don't have one. Edit: Didn't intend to start off a whole new page with this silly post. Sorry.
  15. I'm guessing Nebraska. Here's why: 1. Niang is returning, and the Mayor might leave 2. Indiana has a Rivals four star Center coming in and is still recruiting a five star big (and they are stuck with Crean) 3. Nebraska offers opportunity to play and to provide leadership
  16. Why not guess Iowa State? Here is what Max Bielfeldt said about them: ""Iowa State is a phenomenal opportunity."
  17. Looks like it's down to three: Iowa State, Indiana and Nebraska.--that is some pretty good company. He apparently needs to discuss it with his mother, yet, before announcing a decision: https://twitter.com/leebeeowh/status/601875570964594689 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Here is a recap--listened to the archived interview on Huskers.com (unfortunately, had to first wade through the depression-inducing postmortem on the final baseball game of the season): This is a good opportunity for him with really good things in place. Knew the Nebraska coaches because they travel in the same circles recruiting the same players. First contacts--calls from Coach Miles around the May 5-7 time frame. It happened pretty quickly from there. Coach Miles first came on his radar when Manhattan played Colorado St.--Miles team was well coached. Miles had a passion for the game and enthusiasm. Then Miles took Nebraska to the Tournament quickly. Then he took Nebraska to a new level in hiring Coach Hunter from an established program (editorial note: this seemed to be a very important factor in his evaluation of the situation) His first impressions from visiting here: facilities are off the chart, with great attention to every detail for the players, including nutrition and other factors. In talking with Coach Miles and others in charge of the program, he saw the vision as aligned with his own values. He's learned the players are hungry for success. He watched film from last season and believes a lot of pieces are in place. He is anxious to get the players into the gym and begin preparing for next year. His relationship with Miles is really good. Is impressed with Miles' passion for life and the game, his positive attitude and attention to detail. The whole staff, the City of Lincoln and the University have all been great to him. He believes he brings an understanding of what goes into a winning program. It's not an overnight deal but a multi-year process. He said Donovan is a great coach but a better person than coach. Building a winning program takes a focus on process every day--can't skip steps. It requires a humility that it's bigger-than-me. It starts with everyone working together. On recruiting, the goal is to be a national program, not a regional one. He has a broad background in the Midwest, East Coast and SEC area. We will look to get the best players from everywhere. We are fortunate to have a staff with a wide range of connections. He knows about the passion of the fans. Has seen on video the students' enthusiasm, and he knows that fan support is the number one thing. He is looking forward to the process of Nebraska moving to the next level.
  19. Robin Washut seems to think that Indiana is in the driver's seat for Bielfeldt because of their high ranking and recent dismissal of their starting post player.
  20. I'm rooting for Dickerson to get here. Really. But has anyone seen an indication in that direction yet? It could certainly happen. It makes a lot of sense for him to come here. But where is the impediment? He's been granted his release--a full one. Burno is official here--as in a signed contract and better-than-a-Rosenthal-tweet official. Why haven't we heard something? Hopefully, tomorrow is Dickerson's visit announcement day.
  21. Swan, who is the quote from here? Sounds like some sour grapes from someone who lost a 4-star recruit. He's the #51 recruit in the country per ESPN and the new Florida coach is, like, meh, we don't need him? I don't believe it. I didn't see "below the rim" when he was dunking or blocking shots. Not questioning you, Swan. I'm just wondering who said the things you quoted above. It's a quote from the Florida Rivals guy in Robin Washut's latest post on Burno. The Rivals guy also opines that Dickerson would be a great pickup for Nebraska, if that were to happen.
  22. I don't think anything. Just quoting what's been reported today. Don't know if we are in the mix for Dickerson or not. But It's pretty obvious that we've seen nothing--absolutely nothing--to say we are, other than some speculations and wishful thinking. In fact, our best speculations are that denials of any connection by ones who should know aren't genuine--are merely coach-speak. Best of luck on that.
  23. "He would play Center here"?! Uh-oh: "He doesn't really fit with what Coach (Michael) White wants. If he would've stuck with Florida, he wouldn't have played power forward, he would've been a center - a really undersized center. . . . he's a below-the-rim player."
  24. So, how does Noah differ from Ed Morrow? Noah is less than 6' 8" tall. He's a power-forward type, we are told by a Florida source, not a true center. That seems to be what Ed is--although, Noah looks less-explosive as a shot blocker than Ed but is probably a wider body than Ed.
