Bill Self's comments on this player leaving are interesting--slightly different (less positive) than his Andrew White exit comments. Bill Self said, in his interview today, complimentary thing about this player being a good person, player and shooter, but then added that his team "may have also gained some chemistry issues" from the exit. Here is a link to the interview: https://kansas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1699080

Tim Miles retweeted this Rick Pitino tweet a little while ago -- pretty funny: https://twitter.com/mncoachpitino/status/528305274155991040

Moses hauled in a bunch of rebounds. Given some of the recent negativity floating around on him, Moses seemed surprisingly good.

A tweet from Brian Rosenthal reads: @HuskerExtraBR: KU transfer Andrew White will indeed be participating in tonight's Big Red Tip-Off at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Projecting Allocation of Minutes for 2014-15 Season
Swan88 replied to fr8-train's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Agree that Smith is the wildcard. Smith is, apparently, hampered by an ailment that recently took him out of full-practice-mode for a couple weeks and left him 12 pounds thinner. Prior to that setback, Smith had been getting high praise and projections for significant playing time. Also, Tim Miles likes to brag on Smith and his athleticism. So, assuming good health, a reasonable prediction seems to be that, by midseason, Teran Smith will be getting significant minutes. -
The podcast can be found here. Some highlights: On yesterday's scrimmage--"A really good event for us." Recently had nine basketball recruits in at one time. The current "buzz" in the media is a result of two years of progress and going to the NCAA tournament. High expectations now--all good. Problem: don't play an actual game that counts until November 16--that's a long ways away. By start of practice this year, the team is physically stronger and lean--in great shape. Coach Wilson does a great job. Leslee--if he can't get a sixth year, will try to have him play in January. Joked around about the commercial with Yori--said she isn't acting (they caught her with a hidden camera), Miles should have had more than one line since he already has an Emmy. Says his "feelings are hurt" by the situation. Complained that everyone now gives him these little three inch trophies. Says the Huskers are a "nice club that can hurt you in a lot of ways." He expects Rivers to start at power forward. Benny will come off the bench at point guard. Walt is shooting better then ever--shot "lights out" yesterday. Tai is playing better than last year--expects big things from Tai. Andrew White and Terran Petteway go at it every day in practice--have a "brawl" every day. Miles will be able to talk about the next class in a few weeks--expects those players to be a "top 25" class.

And, what's more, only five Isaiah Roby pages on this board prior to his commitment. Just sayin' . . .
-
According to the Omaha World-Herald this morning : Roby hasn’t undergone a formal growth analysis. His father is 6-5 and his mother 5-8. And he is young for his class. “One thing Coach Miles said he liked about me was that I don’t have any leg hair or facial hair yet,” Roby said. “He said that shows I have a lot of room to grow yet.” There you have it--confirmation received.

I think he's friends with Trevon Petteway. Second cousin to Taj Mahal--both are foreigners.

Always get a laugh at how Jays seem to be proud of this event. It's, actually, kinda yellow: the Jay started something he knew he would not have to finish--hiding behind the skirts of the refs and his teammates and the better judgment of Petteway and other Husker's to protect him. In a real fight between those two, the Jay would be . . . let's just say . . . in trouble.

Check out this tweet about Walter Pitchford:

Who did we beat out for Glynn Watson? Creighton - Nike Purdue - Nike Tennessee - Nike Iowa - Nike West Virginia - Nike Who did we beat out for Ed Morrow? Creighton - Nike Iowa - Nike Minnesota - Nike Florida St - Nike SMU - Nike Who did we beat out for Andrew White III? Maryland - Under Armour Richmond - no sponsorship deal as far as I can tell but they wear Nike uniforms Notre Dame - Adidas Wake Forest - Nike Miami - Nike Florida St - Nike It has more to do with coincidence than anything, seeing as how there are many more schools with shoe contracts with Nike than Adidas, we're going to lose out to/beat out mostly Nike schools. FWIW, Baylor is an Adidas school for hoops: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Adidas_sponsorships#Colleges_and_Universities Wow! The prevalence of Nike on that list is overwhelming. And of the three or four non-Nike schools on the list (excluding Nebraska), two are there because of proximity to the recruit's home. Having no personal knowledge about the issue, that list is the strongest argument I've ever seen in support of the proposition that shoe identification matters in recruiting . . . and matters a lot! And it shows the recruiting success of Tim Miles & Co. to be even more impressive than previously thought.

Garner Treasures Degree Like No One Else
Swan88 replied to Ron Mexico's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
There are interesting legal rules on defamation in the social media. Don't know what story in the offing is here, but you can't defame someone who is no longer a public figure. Just saying. -
Here's a link to the Louisville Rivals article on the subject. Here is a blurb from the article: "I don't like not being able to recruit a kid... because of shoe affiliation," Pitino said. "We need to get shoe companies out of their lives." Pitino said he'd like to see more parental involvement and less involvement from AAU coaches or programs who are directly paid by shoe companies like Nike, Adidas and Under Armor.

In the words of someone (not sure who): "Prediction is very difficult, especially if it's about the future." Exhibits "A": last year's predictions of--a 12th place finish for Huskers in the B1G, no mention of Petteway in Nebraska's "Top Newcomers," Wisconsin as No. 5 in the League, Indiana No. 4 in the league, Ohio St. No. 2 in the league, Penn St.'s coach as Coach of the Year, Wisconsin as one of "the Rest," or how about "Nebraska should take a step back this year." Or how about this as an accurate statement: "My predictions are notably inaccurate". . . but they are fun nonetheless.
