  1. You all laugh and scoff? Remember, Huskers have multiple national championships across multiple sports in multiple decades. Basketball has always underperformed, as has football of late. But the goal and standards are always high. So, again, please accept my congratulations and enjoy your successes.
  2. Getting to the 16 once and doing well in the Big East. Good for you!
  3. Two blowouts in the last four games is an extremely low standard. Congrats on your narrow victory over one mid major and a blowout of Ohio. The B1G was an embarrassment in the Tournament (hopefully Michigan can salvage some form of respect)—that standard is also WAY too low.
  4. A higher standard is preferred. Backing into the 16, and getting blown out in two of their last four games is inadequate.
  5. Get this: “Over at Xavier head coach Travis Steele also felt Wilcher had strong shooting ability when recruiting him initially. ‘C.J. is the best shooter that I saw in the class of 2020 in the entire country. C.J. can make shots from all over the floor, whether in the post, off the catch or off the dribble,’ he said when the four-star initially signed.”
  6. I would play for Coach Hoiberg & Co. any day, every day and always (if I were a skilled basketball player and a few years younger and with eligibility remaining, of course). They run a first class team. They have exceptional experience and are high character guys. They've been through the fire and come out strong. They run a meritocracy in which the best get to play and reasonable discipline is maintained. Yeah . . . I'll take that leadership--100%--over any alternative.
  7. And he has a five star younger brother, according to Washut.
  8. Is this a reverse-leaving announcement—“I’m back” at the end?
  9. Here are season percentages, according to Huskers.com: Kobe .389 from the floor and .393 from three Teddy .449 from the floor and .376 from three Trey .387 from the floor and .373 from three Lat .401 from the floor and .356 from three
  10. Here's guessing we will see a bajillion (give-or-take a few hundred million) of these "heard from Nebraska" texts over the coming months. What would be interesting to know is this: do we already have some transfer targets mostly nailed down through back-channel discussions?
  11. So . . . if Thor and Kobe return, we get 15 scholarship players? That would be cool.
  12. So . . . if we have a choice between having Thor and Kobe back for another season or taking two other transfers, which is the best option?
  13. Ha. Wrong year. See edited post above.
  14. There must be more to the explanation. Here are his lines in a couple of the 8 games they've played: 1. 5 of 7 field goals, 3 of 4 threes, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 13 points. 2. 5 of 9 field goals, 3 of 5 threes, 1 rebound, 2 steals, 1 turnover, 13 points.
  15. No one was “to be fair” to us when we had no Walker for much of the season. And no one was “to be fair” to us when our players had to sit out for a month mid-season. And no one is “to be fair” to us when our players struggle with post-Civid fatigue. And no one is “to be fair” to us when we play a game every other day (with a back-to-back slipped in there just for the heck-of-it).
  16. This is from a March 19, 2020, article in The Pitt News: Some have cited homesickness, poor team chemistry or the emergence of primary scorers like Xavier Johnson and Justin Champagnie as reasons for McGowens’ departure. He ominously voiced his frustrations after Pitt’s final loss to NC State in the ACC Tournament, commenting that Pitt succeeded earlier in the season when “nobody had their own personal agendas” and “everybody was just together and just cared about winning.” Whatever the case, McGowens was ultimately a poor fit with Johnson in the backcourt. Neither complemented the other, with both profiling as shooting-averse slashers. With Capel failing to surround the duo with capable shooters to provide greater spacing over the past two seasons, it became increasingly apparent that one would have to go.
  17. Regression?!! We had a month-long no-practice hiatus in the middle of the season. Walker didn't get to play in the first half of the season, then played one game before getting Covid. A few other players also got Covid. Now, I know that every one of us geniuses on this board would unaffected in the slightest by a Covid infection. But for a young fella like Walker and other players in that same Covid boat . . . it shouldn't affect their performance or stamina in the slightest, especially when they are playing an actual game like only every other day. They played well for three-fourths of the game against Purdue--were even ahead around that mark. I don't care what anyone's glass is like, an intolerance for difficulties in such circumstances is . . . kinda weird.
  18. When I had to stop watching, we were tied at 44. What happened after that?
  19. Hmmmm . . . does a recent bout with the virus affect stamina?
  20. Derrick Walker played only 8 minutes. The announcers suggested he is injured. And Yvan played only 3 minutes. Anyone have any info on this?
  21. Fred Hoiberg and Co. recruited Teddy Allen, Delano Banton and Derrick Walker in the first class. The second class includes Trey McGowens--which also results in the signing of his five star brother. Next year's class, including that brother, is a top-25 class. We have a great start on 2022 with a highly-sought big. The fact that Delano couldn't play the first season and Derrick couldn't play the first season and a half is significant in difficulties that have occurred--not to mention the pandemic-induced, month-long shutdown. My vote and confidence on recruiting knowledge, judgment and prowess is with Hoiberg and Co.
