2021 SG Hunter Sallis ->Gonzaga->Wake Forest
Swan88 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
The Millard North arena was packed out tonight. They closed the doors with a huge line waiting outside to get in—all we’re turned away. -
uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 12; ed 24 - @ Maryland
Swan88 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
On Cross’s fourth foul, it looked like the Maryland player intentionally shoved his shoulder into Cross’s midsection. Yet the TV announcers were adamant that it was a foul by Cross that “will be called every time.” Can anyone clarify this? -
Yeah. It’s sad that a player of his capabilities from Lincoln, who wanted to be a husker, won’t be coming here. But it’s Hoiberg and his staff, whose careers are on the line with each recruiting choice, that get to make such calls. It’s still sad.

2021 SG Hunter Sallis ->Gonzaga->Wake Forest
Swan88 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
According to a prior report, Hunter Sallis is extremely private in recruitment matters. So, here’s guessing that everyone is still guessing/speculating/wishing on who’s in the lead with him. -
I’ll defer to your expertise, but here is from the article: Should Mack continue his pace and finish with those numbers, he’d join names like Ja Morant, Michael Carter-Williams, Jason Kidd, Kris Dunn, Jarrett Jack and Greivis Vasquez.
-
The recent Omaha World Herald story on Cam Mack would suggest that he has an excellent opportunity to get drafted sooner rather than later. If that happens, we should all cheer, because that will confirm Hoiberg's continuing ability to get players to the next level--which will boost future recruiting efforts.

This guy is on our team and has hit 9 of his last 12 threes, according to Chris Heady: https://www.omaha.com/sports/college/huskers/teams/mens-basketball/nebraska-sophomore-cam-mack-is-statistically-on-pace-to-join/article_07fea6a0-de3a-51bb-ad0f-3525e367f3ae.amp.html Here’s more from the article about him: In the “past four losses . . . he’s . . . scoring 18 per game while averaging seven assists and shooting 45% from the floor and 51.9% from 3-point range.”

He also performed very well during the team's pre-season scrimmage at the Vault.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 12; ed 15 - vs. Iowa
Swan88 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Ha! Yeah, but if we can collapse back into the paint, ignore the opponents who aren’t good at hitting threes (e.g., Bakari Evelyn) and constantly harass those who can, Doc says we can have a chance. -
uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 12; ed 15 - vs. Iowa
Swan88 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Here’s hoping that all future opponents have really-big and dominant bigs, like Iowa and Purdue. -
Maybe that playing time is because he made a visit to Lincoln over the weekend, instead of practicing with his team? Doesn’t Marial Mading always start? But the turnovers and low points do raise a flag.
-
Ha! Autocorrect actually made the change to “Chipotle,” when I wrote that post, and I had to manually change it back!
-
In ten minutes or so of Chipola game film from this year (granted, a small sample size), he spent a lot of that time guarding little guys out front.

Keeping up with the offers/visits

Looks like he’s injury prone. Broke a pinky finger earlier this season. Was a top 50 recruit out of high school, according to Robin Washut, -
uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 12; ed 9 - at Creighton
Swan88 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Chris Heady’s Article today in the Omaha World Herald says that Hoiberg tried, and found, something new: he put Kavas at Center for 19 minutes, instead of the two freshmen. Here’s a quote: “in those 19 minutes, against Creighton starters, Nebraska was plus-5 over the Jays.” With the two freshmen on the floor, “the Huskers were minus-26.” ”With Kavas . . . things change.” In the second half, the Huskers “drove and kicked, shooting better than 60%.” With Kavas in the game, the Huskers “scored exclusively off 3-pointers and layups, precisely what NU wants.” -

On these two thoughts, (i) interesting point on free throw misses affecting rebound stats, and (ii) agree on hotdogging. -
Rumor has it that Teddy Allen may be getting some Nebrasketball interest.

Swan88 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
So . . . it appears that everyone on this board is speculating, and no one has inside information? Is that appearance correct? -
Michigan has now played two games. Here are the results: App State 71 Michigan 79 Creighton 69 Michigan 79 Looks like 79 is the magic number for the Wolverines.

Hoiberg previews the 2019-20 Husker season
Swan88 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
If you are a coach at NU and have been watching the reaction of “greatest fans on earth” to the football team’s struggles, you are probably scared to death. Can’t blame the staff at all for wanting to tamp down expectations. -

Yeah. A pleasant surprise. But Cross dribbling the ball up the court is still cringe-worthy. -

There aren't a lot of warm fuzzies from last night to say we are going to be great this year. But there were lot's of athletic plays by lots of guys of jaw-dropping quality. Examples: (i) Cam Mack driving to the bucket--wow! (ii) Haanif Cheatham doing a whirling dervish through traffic in the lane with athleticism and control! (iii) Samari Curtis driving to the bucket toward the end of the game with incredible quickness and speed, (iv) and then . . . that alley oop to Akol Arop at the end . . . wow!! If that had connected, we'd be seeing it replayed everywhere!
