  1. Must be earning that $2.5 million:
  2. Let's remember this. Last time the NCAA ruled against Husker football, they put us on two years probation for this "major violation": giving student athletes textbooks that professors recommended (but did not require). Yep. That's all that happened--and it was self reported.Under the latest U.S. Supreme Court ruling against the NCAA, any such NCAA textbooks regulation violated federal law. There should never have been a probation. The NCAA gets tough on trivial things but seems absent on truly significant matters--this new episode seems like more of the same.
  3. Don't forget this tidbit:
  4. Two things: 1. the only "liking" of this recruit in this thread is this post: "I don't know why, but I can definitely see this guy being a good player, just by looking at him"; and its hard to see any "hating": and 2. as to current rankings, he has no ranking by Rivals, no ranking by ESPN, 3 stars by 247, and 2 stars by Verbal Commits--that's, presumably, way "undervalued."
  5. Gonzaga is certainly a good team. No one is suggesting otherwise. But, they have significant negatives. In addition to playing against mediocre competition in a pretend conference as their regular fare (“have to play the best to be the best”), they are likely to also be net losers in conference realignment.
  6. And everyone puts an asterisk by that seed (saying, “but they play in a pretend league”) . . . and then they get blown out in the NCAA finals, after going into overtime with a play-in team. And everyone is focused, once again, on that asterisk.
  7. It’s always shocking, regarding Gonzaga, that any recruit wants to play in a pretend league . . . but to each his own.
  8. At the risk of providing additional TMI ("too much information"), a "cavalier" back in Charles II's time (the mid-1600s) was known to many as "several sorts of Malignant Men, . . . ready to commit all manner of Outrage and Violence."
  9. Hopefully, everyone is vaccinated to avoid Covid-related problems. Otherwise, those are pretty good excuses, Norm--even better than the old phrase, "A poor excuse is better than none."
  10. With apologies to the dedicated Virginia fans on this board, if I’m a recruit with blue-blood possibilities, Virginia isn’t on my list of blue-blood schools—not an honorable mention or even an also-ran.
  11. So . . . the guy starts. He makes top ten highlight plays every now and then. But we need to be “real”—instead of enjoying the unexpected success? Ok.
  12. Nebrasketball is exceeding expectations at the next level--by a long shot: 1. Roby gets drafted two years ago--by the end of last season, he's (i) starting, and (ii) making top-ten highlight plays; and 2. Now Banton gets drafted--at # 46, no less.
  13. From Washut: “Dalano came to Nebraska two years ago with a goal of wanting to reach the NBA and has worked hard to make that goal a reality,” Nebraska Coach Fred Hoiberg said in a press release. “Everyone in our program is happy for Dalano because so few people are selected each year. It should also serve as motivation for our current team with the system we play that gives our players an opportunity to work in an NBA-style system."
  14. Great stuff! Watch ‘til the end for Nebraska:
  15. Delano is number 65 on this NBA draft list: https://www.espn.com/nba/draft/bestavailable/_/position/ovr/page/3
  16. Everyone who makes a prediction on this, either way, should disclose whether they, (i) have inside information, or (ii) are guessing, like everyone else. A guess given confidently is still unreliable.
  17. Texas has made a killing in the transfer portal.
  18. Lat is dealing with a nagging back issue. The idea for Verge is that Hoiberg’s system will develop and showcase his strengths better than ASU’s system can.
  19. Actually, Robin is paid to be a reporter—not an optimist. And he is good at reporting. He is well-informed and is reliable in the information he provides. His information today, for example, on Breidenbach’s three point shooting is fact-based (i.e., number of misses in a large quantity of shots, based on observations of an eye witness), not opinion-based. His comments on Verge are about other people’s opinions—not his own opinion (so, we might be skeptical about those opinions—but not about Robin’s reporting).
  20. "Our best player"?! Wow! That's got to be the highest optimism yet, right? Robin didn't disclose his sources. Nor did he opine on their credibility or expertise.
