I think you look at transfers or juco bigs. They tend to be a bit more battle tested and you sort of know what they can do at a higher level than high-school. Oftentimes a big in high school plays against smaller or lesser competition.

I have a somewhat sophomoric view of our defense. It looks like a combination of man-to-man and zone trapping. Sort of forces an opposing team to speed up their offense and take a shot when they get an open look. It looks different and seems to catch a lot of offenses off guard. Not sure why.

Does anyone think Self is worth $54 million?
Huskerpapa replied to jimmykc's topic in College Basketball
Agree...sort of goes hand-in-hand with watching UNL cringe under the pressure of major budget cuts; yet we seemingly have the donations and funding to put a half-billion dollars into a Memorial stadium renovation. I am a bit ashamed to admit that I favor that renovation. Equally, I am not opposed to paying high salaries to coaches and players IF exceptional results follow. At Nebraska pay has not equaled wins. I guess with Self, they have. -

I was always taught that a moving screen, more often than not, was the fault of the player coming off the screen. Last night, we had the moving screen called multiple times. Yes, Matar likely contributed; but my guess is that it will be emphasized in film study and practice over the next couple days. Sheesh, screens are heavily relied upon in our offense, so we better get it down. [Last year we made it look artistic with Keisei and DW]. -
Small error, the game is not at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln

Compare and contrast I guess. Many, many salaries are out of control or backwards...actors, athletes, business CEO's, etcetera, seem overpaid; while professions such as teachers are relatively underpaid. So Self is overpaid; but so too are many other coaches, players and actors. Self is one of the top college coaches though, so his salary should be there as well. -

I will not necessarily chip at the refereeing group tonight, just the one ref who forgot how to breathe out of his nose and as a result blew his freaking whistle non-stop. Hard to get game flow when play is constantly stopped on picky ticky-tac calls. Also was sort of strange seeing Sam totally blow out a shoe. It happens, but I am still shocked when it happens. I actually thought he blew out an ankle when it occurred. Sort of cool that he tossed the shoe remnants into the student section. -

This was a bit harder to judge as I catch myself comparing how bad we could beat up a team that our northern rival beat up Tuesday evening. Anywho... * Mast was a dude tonight. He will have to be guarded all over the court, which will really open the lane for everyone. He also is a very good teammate. * Josiah with another thunder dunk. He had a more pedestrian game, but he does the little crap that everyone else benefits from. Missed some bunnies; but I trust that will not happen as much moving forward. * Eli played better, as did Brice. * I thought our backcourt, in general, struggled a bit tonight. Shot selection, some sloppy passes, below average ballhandling/turnovers resulted in a game that could have had a much larger margin. Free-throw shooting looked good, and then it didn't which was sort of a microcosm of the entire night. Tough to complain about a blow out win; but we need to continue to improve if we want to get to the elite 8. By the way, once again a shout out to the student section who once again is showing a lot of progress. Now if We could just fill the other seats...perhaps doing a much, much better job distributing free t-shirts to other areas of fans would help. I swear the same people get shirts each game -

Oleg played 22 minutes in Wyomings opening season win. He had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Looks like was the first man off the bench. He must have had a 3-pointer as well. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401601129 -
If she hasn't signed, then Coach Williams will be in a bit of hot water. A coach cannot comment on an unsigned player. And, based on the quote in the LJS, coach provided commentary on her... "Amiah is a high achiever in everything she pursues, and we could not be more thrilled to be welcoming her to the Husker family," Williams said. "Her size and athleticism combined with her versatile skill set make her the perfect fit for our team on the court. Her high character, work ethic and drive make her the perfect fit off the court. She has a bright, bright future, and we are so excited it will be while wearing Husker red."

https://247sports.com/college/nebraska/article/husker-womens-basketball-announces-commitment-of-britt-prince--219847481/ Yeah we all got caught up with fantastic news that Britt has signed on to Nebraska along with Kennadi Williams (two future Lincoln Southwest basketball players will be playng husker hoops - one on both the mens and womens team). Yet what has flown under the radar is the signing of Amiah Hargrove. She appears to be a great signing as well. Her papa was a long time NFL'r, which tells me that she has competitive lineage. regardless, welcome aboard Amiah!!!

2023 F Gus Yalden -> Wisconsin->Seton Hall->Vermont

Yet it was his choice to go to Wisconsin, and I'm quite sure he knows the law. -
I won't speculate that he will, or wants to redshirt. If you watched him play, he is better ready to play than many. After spending the summer with the team, then a decision can/will be made.

Yeah, he may be 95%, but count me as being in the camp on holding him out one more game. I want him to be 100%! I am satisfied if we win by 30, rather than 40 if Keisei plays. -
