Granted they have been all road games; but this team is looking uncomfortably bad. -

That was one helluva first half! -
Based upon what I have witnessed, there has been no recent appearance of a distraction.

Phenomenal second half. Great team win!

Nebraska (1-3) vs. TCU (3-1) Game Thread

Good grief. Not knowing how to win is contagious. Two or three players have to really step up. Captains, this is where you are needed. -
Which scenario is more likely next year?

Additional question, at what point can the pandemic year no longer be used as an excuse; since we are the only program that had to deal with it? ...SARCASM... -

We played a decent game last night. We had our moments, but defensive breakdowns broke our back. Fran earned his technicals...wait, are you telling me he didn't get one??? -
Yeah, it is difficult because I want information but I don't want hyperbole. If I were a biblical character I would have to be Thomas. I need to see the kid in person, definitely not video. Video lies. You can edit to your hearts desire. A couple years ago there was hype about a big that we landed. Many of us went to the opening scrimmage and was dumbfounded by what we saw. The player was (with all due respect) terrible. I think he ended up being a bench player at Peru State. So note to all who release player information, please provide facts, not another persons perception of fact...and oh yeah, I do not care if someone can hit 30 free throws in a row at practice; I care if that player can hit the front end of a 1 & 1 when the game is on the line; or if a player can hit a clutch three pointer or that if there is a loose ball on the floor, that player is the first on the floor after it; or that he can control the boards; or that be a great teammate; or that he does the little things automatically because he has a high basketball IQ. The fact that he can dunk the ball @ an AAU game is simply not impressive to me.

No pressure...one win in the NCAA tournament or bust.

Robin Washut - Derrick Walker

My expectation remains the same as this season. MINIMUM one win in NCAA tournament. Sorry, we have the facilities, we have the fan base and we belong to arguably the best basketball conferences in the nation. It is not about the past, it us about the present and future. -

I am getting a kick out of this discussion. First, I do not believe any of the players are locks to come back. If Fred does his job, the year end player interviews could be a metaphorical blood bath. Each and every player, needs to build their individual and team first skillsets. Secondly, does anyone REALLY know whether a specific player is really a good person or a good teammate, or are they guessing and speculating? I would love to know sources. For example, I can guess Tominaga, Webster and McPherson are good teammates due to their reactions while on the bench and when a timeout is called, they run out and greet their teammates on the floor. I can also guess that Trey is a good brother as he was ready to go to war for his brother when he was flagrantly fouled recently. Lastly, can someone please define size for me in the context of what a PF or center should look like to qualify as "having size." I am convinced that the definition depends on the conference. I am of the opinion that none of our "bigs" are Big 10 bigs. -
Dimes, now with decision made, it is time to consolidate the myriad of threads relating to next year's coach, yada ya da???
-
Yup. I will support and pray that needed improvement will occur.
-
This player will be able to pick her college team. We all hope it here!
-
Yes I agree. Then again, sometimes players are incapable of understanding or running the scheme so sometimes it is a little murky. During the last game the announcer said Fred must have a thick playbook. His reference came after a set play coming out of a timeout. I mention this because so often our offense appears to rely on an hero ball early in the shot clock. Right players, right scheme, hustle, care...a lot needs fixing
-
I believe the effort has improved; but he is a tweener on defense. He doesn't have the size to consistently defend inside ad he lacks the lateral quickness to defend the exterior. Very similar to Teddy's issues last year.
-
A major issue with Scott was his belief he could come to this league with the same philosophy, the same schematics and the same coaching staff and simply expect similar results that he experienced at Central Florida and the Pac 10. Much different league. You heard him almost shocked at the size difference. What I appreciate is that he has been forced to realize the issues and adjust. I only wish he came to this realization on his own a few years ago. Now can Fred come to this same realization?
-
I love CJ on offense, yet he is a weak defender. We need to find a way to help him on defense; the problem this year is that we have multiple players that need help. Then, you also have to find a way to get those same players to drop and pick up the offensive player that your help came from. Not sure how you fix those issues...but we've witnessed it all year.

Opening Night with Husker Hoops Set for October 1, 2021

Lol...I look back and simply shake my head. -
Sighhhh. We are turning on our own. Most of us on this board are diehard fans. Most of us have waited forever to be good, to win. Most of us have an opinion as to how to go about and finally find nirvana. So healthy disagreement makes this a great place to hang out. Many of us believe Fred is gone, some believe he deserves at least one more year. Trev has indicated that winning mattered. Is Trev even thinking of making a move? I cannot believe he isn't. I have heard a few things, but what I have heard solidifies nothing. But I do know winning, treatment of players, character, money, attendance, program image, plan to improve are some of the ingrdiants that go into the decision soup. I will continue to attend games, cheer and try to do my little part to bring home wins. But I confess, over the last two years I moved from unbridled optimism, to hope, to be dumbfounded, then to anger and now I am at, or close to apathy. I sort of classify myself as a super-fan. It leaves me really concerned about our rank-and-file and wagon jumping fans. They are pretty much gonzo.

I noted that announcing crew made little to no mention of Fred's job status last night. Is there any outside noise about Fred?
