  1. Pitt is 22-8, and looking at their schedule and factoring in our early season form, I could see us at 23-7 with their schedule.
  2. Uh is that not Terran Petteway? The guy has been lights out for all but a couple Big Ten games.
  3. Ohio State goes down, and with a tough game against Michigan State 9-9 is a real possibility. I would be more than OK with the 5 seed if Iowa is the 4 seed. We are much better than when they beat us, and they look nothing like that team.
  4. To summarize: 19 wins if one is Wisconsin. Otherwise, 20 wins. I think you're exactly right.
  5. Iowa up 13 on Purdue at the half. Villanova up 11 on Marquette (very good news).
  6. This is a solid post^^^^^. The frustrating thing to me is all of the analysts who are saying we have to win a certain number of games or win 3 more or 2 more or whatever. First off, like Royalfan eluded to, there's no magic win total that guarantees a tourney birth. Second, no analyst knows for sure what it will take to make the tournament. Back in the day they used to have that 20-win rule of thumb where they would say that 20 wins generally got you into the tournament. Not true anymore. Yes we have to keep winning to stay alive or remain in contention for a berth, this much is obvious. But nobody knows how many wins we need. Jerry Palm has us his 1st team out. Current wins and projected wins in parentheses. Providence - 19 (20) California - 18 (19) Dayton - 20 (21) Missouri - 20 (21) Nebraska - 17 (18) Minnesota - 17 (18) Tennessee - 17 (18) BYU - 20 (20) We're at 17 wins. Aside from Baylor, that means he considers us the strongest 17-win team out there. Because of our SOS, our quality wins and our play in the last month and a half, we are viewed right along with teams sitting on 19-20 wins already. If we beat Wisconsin, that would be a huge win. None of those teams above us are likely to beat a Top 10 team in the next week. Funny enough 7 of the 8 are projected to get 1 more win, and ours would be the best by far. If we were to also pull out a W at Indiana, we'd be at 19 wins with a quality road win and a Top 10 win. We'd be the 4 seed and a near lock, IMO. If we go 1-1 and get 5th, I still think the committee would want to see us beat the 4 seed. They would not care if we beat Northwestern or Penn State. Just my opinion. Also, I think this is a waste of time because Iowa is going to beat Purdue today and probably Illinois at home on their senior day, going 10-8. We'd need to go 2-0 to be the 4 seed, and if we do we'll be in.
  7. Rooting for Purdue is just painful. They are awful, awful, awful shooters. Wide open looks and they can't hit them.
  8. 17 wins won't get us 4th place. I am assuming we'll need to go 2-0 (19 wins) to get 4th.
  9. We don't need another win over Penn State or Northwestern. We want to be able to say we finished 4th in the second-best league in the country. Plus we're then rested and 1 win away from the semis.
  10. On Wednesday, Indiana will be playing its 4th game in 9 days. Probably not too big of a deal since the last 3 of the 4 will have been at home. Still, let's hope are a little sluggish on Wednesday and looking ahead to Michigan next Saturday, because we've been a little sluggish last couple times out and are due to break out. Indiana has lost to Penn State and Northwestern at home, but beaten Michigan and Wisconsin at home. Really don't know what to expect out of them.
  11. Not a good day for us, Oklahoma State and Xavier all but clinched bids today. They both came in as 11 seeds on BracketMatrix. Oregon, Baylor, California, BYU, Minnesota, Arkansas, Missouri are the "IN" teams we are legitimately chasing right now. Providence, Tennessee, Florida State, St. John's, Dayton, Georgetown all right there with us too. 4 SEC teams should not be in the tournament, but whatever. 4 teams in that league have losing overall records (1 B1G team does).
  12. Let's hope Michigan beats them, but then they beat Iowa. Then we are just 1 win away from 4th place (assuming Iowa also loses @ Michigan State, and Ohio State loses @ Indiana OR vs. Michigan State).
  13. Creighton fans are all butt-hurt that Xavier shot 9-16 (56.3%) from 3 against them today. Apparently only Creighton is allowed to shoot three-pointers well. In the Jays' last 6 games, they are 4-2 with two of the wins being a squeaker at last-place Butler and a squeaker at home against 7th-place Seton Hall. They also owned Villanova and won by 15 at Marquette. Not exactly playing awesome basketball, despite what their fans would tell you. On paper, you'd have to say we've had the more impressive last month, but what do I know, I'm "delusional"
  14. Ohio State loses at Penn State Iowa about to lose at Indiana Just goes to show that everyone loses in this conference. To write us off after last night is way too premature. If we go 3-0 to get to 11-7, we will be the 4th seed assuming Iowa can't win at Michigan State. But winning at Indiana is looking really difficult right about now.
  15. Jean Peck is going to fall out of her seat when she sees Nebraska wearing a shade that is not a school color.
  16. This post has been promoted to an article
  17. Another throwback that I like better than our current unis.
  18. Great point here. Instead of the "we're done" rationale, last night could be thought of as an opportunity to move up and an opportunity lost. In the grand scheme of the bubble and in regards to all the other bubble teams we probably lost little if any ground and there's a long ways to go.Now, that said, lose to Northwestern and we're done. Beat Northwestern and we get another opportunity at Indiana. Not saying we don't make it harder on ourselves by losing, but it's certainly not over until the entire bubble plays out their schedules. given that on btn pregame scoonie penn said he thinks we have to win out, i would say that we DEFINATELY lost ground....yes some other bubble teams will lose games, but some teams not currently on the bubble will emerge and there will also be bids stolen in conf trny's ......we lost a lota ground and now probly have to win 4 straight games to have any hope In the span of 12 hours you started a thread saying last night was not a letdown and that it wasn't realistic to expect the Huskers to win out; then said it was a huge opportunity lost, the Huskers have to win their 3 last games AND one in the tournament, not making the NCAA Tournament would be a huge disappointment and basically the sky is falling. Pick a stance and stick with it. No one knows what it will take to get us in. But I will tell you 11-7 in the Big Ten would be pretty damn good, no matter what we do at the Big Ten Tournament.
  19. Wishful thinking IMO. We need to win out. And after that garbage performance not sure I see us winning in Bloomington.Tonight's game has nothing to do with Bloomington. Maybe not but us being a mediocre team away from Lincoln does. Not saying we can't win at Indiana but it's damn tough to win on the road with no post presence and no point guard. It is, but we didn't give a great effort tonight offensively and shot terribly and were still there in the 2nd half. We won at Michigan State. We can win at Indiana.
  20. Some nights it's not your not. For this roster, it's not like they were ever going to win 15 games in a row.
  21. Petteway will take his performance harder than all of us combined. Guaranteed. My only worry is that he is in the gym shooting at 3 a.m. when they get back when he clearly needs to rest.
  22. He doesn't know his role anymore. He's confused by playing with guys who are better scorers than he is. He's a one-trick pony who is struggling to get his shot off. A whole lot of things.
