Creighton fan is hilarious. According to their board, their recruiting class has much more upside than ours does. Creighton fan also projects Tai Webster to be a 3 star (even though ESPN already has him as a 4 star). Apparently he isn't a "difference maker". Funny how he says he ends up ranked a 3 star. He must have watched a ton of film on him and read a bunch of reviews to make that assumption. Nevermind that 113 players for 2013 are ranked 5 or 4 stars by Rivals, and Fran Fraschilla, who watched tapes of all of Webster's Olympic qualifying games, says he'd be in the Top 25 if he played in the States...leave it to Bluejay fan to evaluate our recruits though. Hoopscoop has Nick Fulller #92 in their Top 150. I have to imagine Webster will be in there once he becomes more known, since from all that's out there it sounds like Webster is a better player than Fuller. None of Creighton's 3 signees is in there. But yes, continue to evaluate where our class stands, Creighton fan. Your basketball intelligence is superior.

So he is saying that Peltz and Vucetic will not be in the rotation next year? I think that's pretty much common sense. Where do I sign up to be a sportswriter?

Looked like on espn3 that the ball was briefly knocked out of mcdermott's hands on the way down, hence no travel called.

Way too much drama. We lost because we couldnt hit the broad side of a barn. This team will live and die by the three because they aren't good enough to do anything else. Tonight we died. The last two games we lived.

Not clicking the link. Don't want to give any hits to that guy's website. Complete moron. Even Creighton fans despise him. -

OWH...Prepare like they are a tough team

By good scoring guard, I mean guys who can create their own shots. Creighton can't defend guys who drive and create their own shots. Talley is the only player on our roster that I've seen that can do this. Gallegos COULD I think, but 45 of his 67 shot attempts this season are three pointers. He's only made 12 two pointers all season. Talley had 8 in one game against Kent State. I agree, Ray needs to do that on Thursday. He can't settle for three pointers all game (unless he is making them all). But I think Talley is our best option to take the ball to the hoop. If he kicks it out to Ray for open threes, that works too. If he scores, that works too. Talley sucked against Creighton last year. I think it will be much different this year. -

Talley could have 30 this game. That's how poor Creighton is at defending good scoring guards. He might have to have 30 too if we want to win. -

This is the kind of crap that Bluejay fans post about for two weeks. Me, whatever. We'll likely lose, but one thing is for sure, our guys will play damn hard and they won't give up until the final horn. I'm excited to watch. The general consensus among Creighton fans is that if they show up, they'll win by 30+. If they don't show up, they'll only win by 10-20. -
No punishment is going to be handed down because of that. That tweet is just the NU Compliance Department's way of "getting ahead of the situation." The NCAA doesn't even punish every recruit getting paid to play collegiate sports because they know there are far too many. They aren't going to worry about a stupid sign some frat boy made.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. We very easily could lose to USC, and Creighton could just as easily rebound with a win over St. Joe's, which I expect they will. Let's not sugarcoat it...NU still only plays 6 scholarship players. One is a true freshman. One a sophomore who has hardly played. One who can't go more than 5 minutes without a breather. NU has their fair share of faults.

Creighton didn't look good at all. Never should have been sniffing the Top 10 but that's how early season polls go. Wisconsin's loss at home to Virginia furthers that point. Creighton likely isn't even the best team in their conference. Wichita State is pretty salty. Creighton has trouble playing defense against anyone remotely good on offense. In particular they cannot defend guards who can create and score on their own. Boise State had a great gameplan that really exposed all of Creighton's flaws, particularly their lack of athleticism. I still don't think we'll beat Creighton as they'll probably shoot the lights out from 3, but I would not be completely shocked if we did. Heck, we sucked last year and we were right with them on their home court until Technical-gate turned a 1 point game into a 6 point game and gave them all the momentum.

RealTimeRPI.com Prediction GOD I HOPE THIS COMES TRUE
GoBigRed replied to Hoops_Legend's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
In addition to people having too low of expectations for this team, they also (naturally) think every other team around them is in a way better position. Penn State is in a horrible position and is ripe to be beaten twice by us. Purdue is not a great team and we can get them on our home court. We're certainly good enough to beat Northwestern at home. And Iowa. Odds are good that we'll steal a game somewhere along the way that we shouldn't as well. That would be 6-12. Even if we don't get 1-2 above, that's still 4-5 wins. Better than last year. I think people look at last year's record (4-14) and say "that team had a lot more talent, so there is no way this team wins more than them." But you have to seriously take into account team chemistry and attitudes. This team has it. Last year's did not at all. Spencer wanted to jack up his stats. McCray never really understood team basketball ever. Diaz walked out. Richardson and Walker busted their butts. But I'd take Talley and Ubel > Richardson and Walker every day. Add in a confident Gallegos and a somewhat healthy Almeida and I seriously believe this team IS better than last year's team. Better coaches, better chemistry, better attitudes and just a better team. -
He set the table alright. And finished everything on it too.

Demon Deacon Game Thread: Shake me, WAKE me.....
GoBigRed replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Why is it a foul every time they get in the paint and we try and defend? Always seems like we can get hacked in the paint and no call is made. -

Almeida's really got some skills. Unfortunately one of them is eating. -
Creighton was 8-1 in games decided by 4 pts or less last year. Obviously good teams find ways to win, but an 8-1 record in extremely close games is pretty fortunate and can't be expected to happen every year. With their schedule being more difficult this year and some other Valley teams being better, I see Creighton having more losses this season even if their team is better. That said, I still think they will blow us out. Hope I am wrong.
