  1. I know here in Lincoln we tend to measure progress the way most people measure a glacier, but not next year. Making the NCAAs & competing for a B1G title should be a given. I think we will have a meteoric rise (ala Butler) and not only MAKE the Tourney, but have a deep run becoming the darlings of the Basketball world. There I said it...
  2. If you've ever spent any time on the Northwestern campus, their butts are always puckered. That being said, I'd be REAL surprised if they didn't make it. We have to, HAVE to win the B1G tournament. I think we go 3 -1 down the stretch, and I hate to say it, but lose one more home game.
  3. Here's some other numbers to ponder, as in, does Tai make 1st or 2nd team All-B1G? He could arguably make 1st team, but 2nd team HAS to be a lock.
  4. Lee B's column was SPOT ON! I'd expect nothing less from a fellow Superior Wildcat alum.
  5. Keep the ball above yer head Jordy, stay outta foul trouble and the Bob Lanier comparisons will start rollin' in.
  6. That's what makes us Nebraska Basketball fans. It's a rare combination of cockeyed optimism & dementia that gives us our "glass half full" mentality & keeps people away from us on the city bus.
  7. There is no team I like to see lose more than THE Ohio St. University. The fact that we kicked 'em in the seeds in such a grandiose fashion really made my weekend. Now let's win out and keep that Big Red train rollin' into D.C.!
  8. I was going to start a topic on this, but someone beat me to it. I understand the benefits, more practice, games, etc. especially for a young team. YET, what comes with it is an "oh well, it is what it is" mentality that I'm not Ok with. Granted everything "is what it is" so to speak (except Fake News) but the notion of a CBI berth strikes me as a somewhat defeatist attitude. Here's hoping we can string together some wins and sneak into a more substantial post-season tournament.
  9. The NIT hasn't been the same since they went away from the Red - White & Blue ABA Basketballs. What in the name of Stan Cloudy is wrong with these people?
  10. I forget the game, but Dakich claimed Pinnacle Bank Arena was as good as any basketball facility in the Country. Amenities, atmosphere you name it, and the play-by-play announcer asked, "even Cameron?" Dakich said yes.
  11. THAT is the team I thought we'd see this season with a far greater frequency, AND I thought it had more to do with US then who our opponent was. With the return of Ed and the phoenix like ascension of Isiah and Jordy it sure looks like we can make some hay down the stretch. Rest assured no one wants to see the Huskers on their side of the bracket come B1G Tourney time.
  12. Allen Field House is a special place no doubt. My buddy tutored the team back in '90 and got us seats right behind the Huskers bench. All the Jayhawk students kept yelling, "Hey Lively, why don't you live'n up your team?"
  13. Looks like Baylor's recruiting "tactics" are paying off. If SMU got the death penalty back in the day, what do you do with that mess down in Waco?
  14. I remember when I was at "the U" and would get all fired up when the Big 8 tournament started. I was always certain we would get hot and win that thing while my friends (sane people) would roll their eyes and look on me sympathetically. I guess some things never change...
  15. Any Paul Velander reference MUST be acknowledged...
  16. Missed lay ups, missed free throws, unforced turnovers, silly fouls. Blah ,blah, blah..... At the end of that game I wanted to take an ice pick and shove it in my temple.
  17. Slightly off topic... Q: How many Packer fans does it take to change a light bulb? A: 10 - 1 to change the light bulb, 1 to tap the keg, and 8 of em' to talk about how good the old light bulb was.
  18. Me passed out in a booth at O'Rourke's after we lose to Louisville in the sweet 16...
  19. It's fun to speculate and throw darts in the dark, but as we know, these roster spots have a way of sorting themselves out. Thank God at least we have options & bodies. I love me some Sek Henry & Cookie Miller, but 10 years ago if you would have told me players would be transferring in from KU and Georgetown I would have guessed you had an affinity for Robitussen...
  20. Hard to watch us go toe to toe with these clowns for virtually the WHOLE game, and then spit the bit down the stretch. Hopefully the effort we're layin' out there will start paying off in the form of Ws.
  21. Based on Gill's performance this year (or lack thereof) he has ALOT of ground to make up when it comes to the returnees AND all of the incoming talent. Wouldn't surprise me if he was on the move again ala' Mr. White.
