Think we hit rock bottom fellas
Handy Johnson replied to Hoops_Legend's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
This isn't CLOSE to rock bottom. Imagine dropping the next two (certainly possible) and then getting smoked in the B1G tourney. As disheartening as that would be even THAT wouldn't be rock bottom. Does the name Maryland Baltimore Co. ring a bell? -
Sipple nailing it! Great article

Phi Slamma Jamma? The Runnin' Rebels? Hell, according to that list we could school the Globetrotters... -
It's unfortunate the Dave Hoppen/Bill Jackmans' of the world don't come along too often. Nebraska will always be thin when it comes to D1 talent, but we could use some luck from the Basketball Gods and have a local boy blow up into a superstar.

My favorite thing about Miles is the fact that he hasn't bought into the whole "little engine that could mentality". Every new Coach comes in with BIG talk and BIG ideas then slowly sinks down into this woe is me attitude. That ain't happenin' any more! -
They're coming off a couple of nice wins and are probably still sore at us for the beating we laid on them, BUT I have a hunch Shields and Morrow both play and we tune em' up one more time...

This one hurts, and our inability to finish around the rim is maddening. Barring a deep B1G tourney run our NIT chances are slim. All that being said, this has been a fun team to watch this year. The improvements have been tangible and real. All of the Freshman we had hoped would be Big Time contributors have been. Now let's get Shields and Morrow back and see what happens...

The Buckeyes have laid some man-sized beatings on us since we've joined the B1G, and I would LOVE to return the favor Sat. Hoping Shields might surprise us and come out in uniform. I'm also sick of the BTN's non-stop a** kissing when it comes to all things Buckeye. They might as well change their name to the Buckeye Television Network.

What????What does that even mean? Better than what? If you're excited about a CBI invite your expectations for this program are WAY lower than mine. I don't want us in some rinky dink tournament with a bunch of no-names, and frankly I don't care how "beneficial" the extra practice time would be. I see, so it's better to deny extra practices and game experience for our underclassmen because they should instead be made to sit at home and reflect on the damage they've done. They should be ashamed of themselves! That'll really teach them to not suck so much next time, won't it!!! We've turned down the CBI before... Yes we have, and I just quit smoking so I'm cranky...

Going to a Bowl game with a losing record and then following that up with a CBI/CTI invite makes my a** tired. We're better than that, and as I've heard Miles say, "you get what you tolerate".

This weekend's legends throwback jerseys
Handy Johnson replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Those should STILL be our uniforms, you really can't improve on perfection. You never see the Yankees trot out new uniforms every year. -
Lets's go with the Black/Red lettering circa '91. Plus it REALLY helps that LeVert will still be out.

Vote for the Nebraska Basketball Mount Rushmore
Handy Johnson replied to hal9000's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It's important to distinguish the All-time greatest Husker team would be different from the "Mount Rushmore" of Husker basketball. The All-time team I think would be: Lue Petteway Hoppen Piatkowski A. Smith The other based on Historical significance as well as talent and ability would be: Fred Hare Jack Moore Piatkowski A. Smith -
This is a game we not only can win, but we should win. And yes, as far as recruiting we need to keep that Chicago pipeline wide open.

That's because he benched both his seniors, Morris and King. They fired Tubby because he couldn't make it to the Sweet 16 so it's probably sink or swim after 4-5 years. They fired Tubby because he never had a winning Conference record, nor has the program in 10+ years. Still, they like to think of themselves as a "Basketball" school, funny.

He looked like a coach that knows it is over. As Sam McKewon pointed out on twitter last night, Minnesota doesn't have a full time athletic director so who exactly is going to fire Pitino? The interim AD? Boy I doubt it. Pitino has 3 6'7" - 6'8" guys coming in but as we know integrating freshmen post players is tough. It's going to be a rough couple of years up there. One of his recruits is Richard Coffey's son out of Hopkins. The elder Coffey was on the '91 Sweet 16 squad with Willie Burton losing in that round to Georgia Tech and Kenny Anderson. As you pointed out Dimes their whole Athletic Dept. is chaos right now. Fired AD, Kill resigns, and the Hoops squad stinks.
