  1. Who cares if he didn't get offers in the 8th grade or as a freshman. I mean, really, who cares? If the kid can help the program, sign him up. If he's not what we're looking for, don't waste your time or the kids. He looks to be a pretty talented player, I don't know if he's a difference maker or contributor at the B1G level, but I don't think whether or not he was getting offers in middle school is necessarily indicative of whether or not the kid will be an elite player or even a serviceable one. I'm guessing the kids that get offers at that age are the elite of the elite. The top 1%, maybe top 5. A lot more players than that have significant careers after high school.
  2. Interview with Ubel this morning on Sharp and Benning. http://stationcaster.com/player_skinned.php?s=111&c=981&f=924681
  3. Thanks for everyone playing a long with my request.
  4. I'd suspect he'd have a whole lot more votes if he committed to Nebraska. lol. that was my thought as well.
  5. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR #Nebrasketball signed recruit Nick Fuller is scheduled to be on campus Jan. 6 when #Huskers host Matthew Atewe on official visit.
  6. So you think shields and ubel will start with Andre coming off the bench??? It's possible, but you might have inferred to much. I expect the two of them to start and platoon throughout the game. It'd be nice if Shields continues to improve and force Miles' hand.
  7. Thanks, guys. Probably gonna need you for the next two as well. Family/holiday obligations will have me away from the action.
  8. No chatter tonight or for the games on the 22nd and 23rd. Work and familial holiday obligations standing in the way. Someone feel free to fill in. Tonight will make vol. 11.
  9. Man, get that kid in a weight training program and look out!
  10. I think it's a Northwestern thing, being the academic institution that it is...
  11. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR Tim Miles, on injured David Rivers: “He averages four points a game. That’s 10 percent of our offense. We gotta have him.”
  12. Most schools (Nebraska included) do that. They have an allotment of tickets behind the visiting bench and second allotment up in the nose bleeds. I guess Ive never experienced that elsewhere. Whenever I was at an arena as a guest I was always put right behind the teams bench, as well as a guest of an opposing player when they played at Nebraska. I got allotment tickets at Kansas once, and we were in the top row of Allen Fieldhouse. Almost hit our heads on the steel beams holding the place up if we weren't careful.
  13. I'm with bball and norm on this one. The guy's not even a third of the way through his first of four seasons here. Not to mention he's playing hurt. I know the freshmen that come in and light the world on fire get all the headlines, but they're also not common. I think the kid's comported pretty well for himself so far. and as was mentioned, when he gets a more complete team around him, I think you'll see his game blossom.
  14. It would be a great move for Creighton I think, and probably a no brainer if they have the opportunity to do that. Anything that would improve the visibility and quality of basketball in the state is a good thing. I'm not really worried about whether it makes things harder for NU or not, if Miles can show he's putting together a quality program together, Creighton shouldn't stand in the way of that. There's room in this state for both programs.
  15. Coach has basically said as much. Wouldn't be shocked if that answer doesn't come through the HS ranks, tho.
  16. It is. But I still think they can win these last 4 before conf. play starts. I also still think there will be wins to be had in conference play, but games vs. the top 7 or 8 could be really difficult to watch most nights.
  17. He defintatly has skill, but his quickness is going to hurt him when he goes up more athletic bigs like he did today. He'll be able to back down anybody in the league, but like you said, he's got to get better at learning what fouls are (or at least when he does have to foul not letting the other guy score...).
  18. Looking at the three recruiting services, it doesn't appear as though we've offered him. At least not yet.
  19. I think if he was in shape, he'd still struggle vs. better athletes.
  20. Andre's going to face more days like this.
  21. - After the first half where both teams played pretty poorly the fact that Nebraska was only 10 down seemed pretty remarkable. - NU had some open looks they were unable to convert, which seems to happen to this team a bit too often. - Talley still trying to do too much on his own at times. - You can see the improvement in Shields game even in the short time that he's been on the floor. He's going to be good as he gets more comfortable. Glad to see he's toughing it out today. - Peltz had as rough a first half as I've seen anyone have in a long time. - NU got exploited in the paint a bit. Oregon athleticism gave NU fits, seemed to speed up NU. - Don't think NU did all that poorly vs. Oregon defensively, just couldn't get anything going on the other side. - Interesting that NU went zone for a while. Bit of a statement on the depth of NU, not to mention the foul trouble they found themselves in. - Just me or were there an overly excessive number of offensive fouls in the first half, on both sides? - Thought Ray's lack of ball handling skills showed up a couple of times, especially in the first half. There were a couple of times I thought he could have attcked the rim, but he didn't feel confident in his ability to get there. (Talley seems to have the opposite problem). - Tough match-up for Andre and Brandon. NU's going to have to figure out how to handle talent like that once we get to conference play. - Getting nothing from Andre and Brandon offensively today was the dagger. Though Talley and Gallegos didn't have great games, they did at least contribute something. If we can get seven from Shields the rest of the way, too, that will be huge. - NU can't afford to give away possessions like when two players have possession of a rebound and lose it out of bounds. - Zero free throws in the first half? That can't happen either. They struggle to score, they've got a find a way to get to the line and get some points some other way than hitting outside jumpers. - Is Peltz a bit of a dirty player? Looked like there may have been some funny business going on a couple of times. He's a tough player, though, which Nebraska needs. - Hope Rivers isn't hurt too badly, can't afford to lose anyone in the regular rotation and he'd been getting better. This really wasn't a surprising outcome. NU's a bit banged up and lacks some depth and athleticism to begin with. Pair that with a team that's fairly good and should probably be in the tournament at the end of the season, this is probably the result that should have happened. We'll see a lot more teams like this (and better) the rest of the way. NU needs to find a way to get the next 4 if they can. I still think there will be opportunities for wins vs. the bottom of the Big Ten, but there will be more nights like this than not. As the announcer said at the end of the game, NU needs to weather the storm this year. I like the effort this team puts forth, I hope that continues all season, they just don't have the pieces to do what they need to do to get to the next step. This post has been promoted to an article

  23. If the injuries linger. If it's something that they can get by for only a couple of games sitting out, I could see the bench shortening for a game or two.
