  1. I agree in principle CWG, but the barometer should be tonight. We played lineups we won't see again and even gave 19 minutes to a player who won't play this year. As long as we're a little better every game, they'll be significantly better at the end of the season than they are now.
  2. Tell me this, why can't I get a KU version of this? http://www.eastbay.c... KEYWORD SEARCH Oh, and Tennessee? Before last year, they were in the dance for six straight years including two sweet 16 appearances and an elite eight.
  3. What if it ends up not being a throw away year? what if they find a way to get to the CBI or NIT? Considering all that's led up to this year and the expectations levied on this group, that would seem like anything but a throw away year. I'm not expectig that. I don't think anyone other than those suiting up are expecting anything like that, but it's also not impossible.
  4. You're reaching an impossible conclusion based on one exhibition game in which the new guy was playing his first game and looked very nervous. Kye looked fine, but until I get a chance to see him play in a game that hasn't devolved into a glorified street game, I'm not going to sit here and say he should be playing over Vucetic. SV has one thing that we haven't had in a very, very long time and that's a 7' 1" frame. We'll need that length this year. Kye does not have that.
  5. As I said earlier this week, not much to be learned from an exhibition game. I did take away a few things: - Fans want their Runza's. - Biggs is going to be good. There will be talk that he should play right now. Save it. This is the right decision. I don't care what Kent and Matt say. - Vucetic seems to have some ability, but he looked a little nervous, which is probably to be expected. I'd assume we'll see him improve over the course of the year. A steak or two might not be a bad idea. - I like Parker, broader than I expected him to be. Well put together. - Seemed like the whole team came out somewhat sluggish the first half. Definately still learning to play together in the new system. - These are probably, no not probably, these are definitely my favorite Red Zone tshirts yet. - Good to see Andre and Ray back on the floor. Nothing really stuck out to me about Ray's game tonight, he'll play a lot, I expect. Don't know that we learned much about Andre. He's big and Midland didn't have anyone that could handle him when they got the ball to him. - From where I was sitting, I couldn't tell much about how they're going to run offense, I'll need to watch the replay later to get a better idea. - Don't really take too much out of Ubel's game. Couple tough calls on the blocking calls early, foul trouble and all kept him from really doing much. He'll be fine. Not really worried . - I think we're going to see a fair amount of Peltz. Seemed capable. Not flashy, but probably not going to do much to hurt the team anyway and we need depth at guard. - Looking forward to getting to see Shields on the floor. I'm probably forgetting some things. It was just good to be back at the Devaney Center watching some basketball. Here's to a new year! This post has been promoted to an article

  7. I actually thought it was more similar to what CF described. Maybe it was transfer players like Pettaway and Pitchford. Or maybe I'm just off on this one...
  8. no they won't. Maybe for a half, but NU wins this one going away.
  9. I'm not saying this should be anything resembling a competition, but what I'm saying is that each team enters this game with polar opposite mentalities. Nebraska's working out kinks (or maybe a little more than that), Midland's going to throw punches (metaphorically). Of course Nebraska should run away with this thing, but if it's close or worse, way too much will be made out of that when this game literally has zero bearing on the rest of the season.
  10. Just an AP story that probably got included on a generic feed. Twitter had it almost as soon as Miles said it...
  11. Win or lose (which we've seen happen before...) don't read too much into results. We'll see a lot of combos we won't see all year and guys getting playing time that we won't see again with the game in doubt. Considering that NU will be working on running system more-so than trying to win the game, the outcome is really fairly tertiary to other things...
  12. If we need Shields to beat UNO, we'll be in trouble...
  13. Redshirt it is. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR Miles also says decision to redshirt Deverell Biggs is final. Could play in exhibition against Midland.
  14. Almedia will be a solid rebounder as will Ubel. IIRC, Talley was pretty good at it himself. Wouldn't expect much out of the guards, though Gallegos is pretty athletic he might be a factor. I'd expect this to be an area we see improvement, not sure to what extent, though.
  15. I'm pretty much in line with this. We'll likely be in a lot of games a half time and not quite able to hang on down the stretch.
  16. Barring a rash of injuries, we should know this time next week plus a few hours. Maybe another week, but not beyond that. You're sacrificing too many games in what will already be a short career for Biggs by sitting and waiting to see what Agau does, especially when it's unlikely that he'll switch in the first place. If he hasn't played after the Valpo game, he's not going to.
  17. If I'm reading this tweet right, Ryan Anderson's gonna get a shot to make a NBA DLeague roster. Duane Rankin ‏@DuaneRankin Ryan Anderson is 8th camp invite for #Erie BayHawks. Was in open tryout. Played for @HuskerHoops. In @nbadleague last season@SFSkyforce
  18. Sure is.
  19. I'd probably lean this way.
  20. Just because you have tall guys on the court, doesn't mean you can't push the tempo. That's why they invented the secondary break.
  21. Assuming he's built upon what I saw of him when he was at Central, he'll be the most talented player to come through these parts in a long time. Kid can play.
  22. They're not usually begging JUCO transfers to redshirt. They usually want those kids on the floor ASAP.
  23. He didn't have grades.
  24. Depends. If Biggs plays, he'll be the guy, it won't be close. If he plays, he could be a lot like that PG from Penn St last year. Potent scorer with not much else around him. If he doesn't, it could be any number of guys. I'll say a healthy Dylan Talley is a pretty good bet. I like the Gallegos pick, too. I think he'll have a big year.
