  1. Cool. We said the same things when Korver was graduating and we thought the tide would turn when this young stud from Florida named McCray was coming in and would be the savior of the program. I like where it looks like we're going too, but until we get there, I'm not going to start thumping my chest.
  2. Not buying it. They've got an all american, another guy who went and got a double double, another who had ten assists and a sharp shooting 4 coming off the bench. That's not one guy and nothing special outside of that. This is a very good team. They'll still have to figure how to defend elite guards (of which NU doesn't have), but this is a very good team, it's actually ok to admit that, even if you don't like them. I've heard this before. Until it happens, it's just talk.
  3. - Feel free to cry about the officiating. I heard a lot of it at the game. Feel free to cry about the flopping that Creighton does. I heard a lot of that at the game, too. And while Creighton does look a little like an international soccer team at times, they know how to make contact look like a foul. And that works in this game, like it or not, it works and it won't be the last time we see it this year, and tonight wan't the first time we've seen it. Early in the season, Coach Miles said this team didn't know to get to the line and we saw that today. There were opportunities for NU to get to the line, but we don't know how to do that. Creighton does. Don't blame the refs (except for the non traveling call on Gibbs). - The last two games were great and they weren't a mirage. Creighton is very good. NU got a little out of what it wanted to do and CU did a good job of taking away some of what Miles wanted to do and NU didn't have enough to respond. - One of the things they took away was Ray. He was never able to get loose and NU couldn't find those points anywhere else. - There were some interesting matchups tonight on McDermott. I think we saw about everyone get their shot at him and did ok on him for a while, but much like last year, after the technical and the brawl, the flood gates burst and he basically dominated the end of the game. - Talley tried to too much the last ten minutes of the game. Creighton knew it and completely shut him down. - I though Andre played pretty for most of the game. Thought he neutralized Echenique pretty well but I was curious why he didn't play much down the stretch when I think we could have used him. Echenique dominated the time when AA sat. I would have liked to see what would have happened if he had come in after the scrum and after Echenique came out of the game after he went careening into the NU bench. - I thought the offense looked very tentative, especially in the first half. The movement we've seen in the past couple of games wasn't there, they weren't attacking like they usually do and when they did take shots, they couldn't get them to go down. It won't be the last time it happens this year, but we'll also see other days like the past two games. - That was as good of a basketball atmosphere as we've seen in a long time. That is what this fanbase can be. That what games can be. - The score may not have indicated it, but this game was played like a rivalry. We almost had a brawl, there was genuine dislike between these teams and the fanbases. If Miles can get this program up and running like we think he can and will, these games are only going to get better. I have a feeling that Mike Peltz will live in Creighton infamy. - Shields looked a little overmatched on McDermott at times but he had a couple of big boy plays. His improvement over the course of the season could be the difference whether or not NU makes a post season tournament or not. That's all I've got fun atmosphere, disappointing outcome. 5. It's more likely Ray goes off that Talley does.
  6. Next Sat. The game's on the 15th.
  7. Ok. Thanks!
  8. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruitingon-the-trail/post/_/id/3586/huskers-announce-tai-webster-signing What's behind here? Anyone?
  9. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to temper enthusiasm I've just been down this road before. I'm a little guarded still. Last night was pretty fun, though! Hope for more of the same on Thursday!
  10. And on the right night, we might be able to stay with one of those top 10 teams.
  11. I knew what you were saying, but the coaching staff can't comment on it until it gets turned into the NCAA, so any acts that would be considered violations while he's still considered a recruit would still be in effect until it is turned in.
  12. Because until it's officially done, it'd still be a violation.
  13. Brian Rosenthal ā€@HuskerExtraBR #Nebrasketball officially has a new player. Sources tell me. Brian Rosenthal ā€@HuskerExtraBR His name is Tai Webster. Perhaps you've heard of him. Official details expected later today.
  14. Right. Unless they win one of those games. It may not be likely, but no one expected the last wins or the Valpo win, either. We'll find out fairly quickly which reality it is.
  15. Traditionally this program hasn't handled success well. Just when the fanbase starts stirring, things come crashing down. Last night was fun, but let's not go crazy just yet...
  16. Transition defense and defensive rebounding. Creighton will run you to death if you get lazy on defense and they crash the boards offensively. What happens when they take Echinique out and have Wragge and McDermott at the 4 and 5? That's a bad match-up for Almedia, though it could be a decent one for NU on the other end. Ubel did a pretty good job of defending McDermott last year until the technical foul craziness We'll need that to happen again.
  17. Don't expect any updates on recruiting today' class="bbc_url">@Nebraska Hoops Blog ā€@HuskerHoops Don't expect any updates on recruiting today
  18. lots of basketball left.
  19. Has it been seven years already? Dang.
  20. Robin Washut said on the radio this afternoon that he signed it back home, had all the requisite witnesses and is signed and sealed.
  21. - Yeah, Iā€™m not worried about Webster. He was smiling all night. He was really eating up the attention. - Loved the move to have him and his family sit with Erick Strickland. - This was a great night for Nebraska basketball, both on and off the court. - Gotta give a big shout out to the Red Zone and crowd. They were great tonight. There was an awareness that this was a big game and Webster was in the building. It felt like a conference game with something on the line. - Something's clicked for Gallegos, at least, I hope it has. Ever since the stinker vs. Kent St., he's been locked in. I said it before the season that I thought Ray had as much to gain as anyone on the team from the coaching change. So far, that's proving true. If he does this again on Thursday, NU's likely to be in the game, but goodness, he gets that shot off quickly. - NU was really only sloppy during that stretch in the first half where they let USC get up 18-14. They let Fontaine get loose a bit but did a decent job bottling him up from there. - USC has a bunch of athletes on their team, but they seemed like they were struggling to put the pieces together. - Talley didn't have a great game. 5 turnovers is a big much. Would like to see that number come down. - Parker didn't have a great game either. zero assists. two turnovers. five points are nice, but I'd trade them for five assists. - Peltz, though, played with an edge tonight. Doesn't bring much offensively, but a couple of assists are nice, but it's his bulldog defense that is getting him noticed. I was nervous though when Peltz got matched up on Fontaine a few times. - Is it just me or is the bench more active cheerleading than I remember them in the past? Pettaway, Biggs and Pitchford were having a lot of fun tonight. - If Gallegos gets the award for biggest beneficiary of the coaching change, Andre gets runner up. Having him healthy, we're finally seeing the player we thought we were getting two years ago. He was quick tonight and he's getting more consistent offensively. - NU was pretty good in transition defense today. They're going to need to be even better on Thursday. If you let the Jays get out and run, that's a recipe for disaster. - Watching the game, didn't notice Ubel much, but when I look at the box score, his 4 assists really stand out. If we can get assists out of the post, that'd be huge. - Ten first half turnovers weren't a great sign, but they were able to fix that in the second half to finish with 14. That's a pretty good number. I'm sure I missed some stuff. I'll let you guys fill in the gaps, but this was a good night, both on and off the court. Fun night tonight, will need more of the same on Thursday. It's going to be a sell out, or close to it and the Jays will be significantly better than any team NU has faced so far this year. We're in the middle of the key four game stretch. Many wondered if NU would win any of those four, well, they've won the first two and are playing confident basketball right now. We'll see two teams give it everything they've got on Thursday. Hopefully the fans do as well, I'm expecting them to, though there will be a fair share of Jays fans there as well.
