  1. Hoiberg was *quite literally* the best player on the court yesterday. That won't be true very night, but he can absolutely play a big role at this level.
  2. Logically, shouldn't these teams have been losers against the spread if he was right about them? Is he showing he was wrong, or am I completely misinterpreting this?
  3. Taking NIL money could be a violation of student visa rules, but I don't think it would be an NCAA issue. More likely that he got something without going through "proper" NIL channels.
  4. Corn 97 Lumber 62 10 Non-Con Wins 20 Regular Season Wins
  5. I would Upvote this 10 times if I could! Fred absolutely has to get Rice on the court for significant minutes in the non-con. Unlike Diop, he's not raw. Fred can't just leave him on the bench, playing only spot minutes until someone gets hurt like he did with Lawrence last year. If Rice can establish himself as a viable rotation piece, it really raises the ceiling for this team.
  6. To be clear, Sam is a *really* good athlete . . . he's just short. If he were 5 inches taller, He'd be on scholarship at another P5 program, but alas he's 5-10 so he's a (excellent) walk-on for us.
  7. I’m thinking floor of 12 and ceiling of 24. A lot would have to right/wrong to hit either of those numbers, but I definitely think we are closer to the 24 than the 12. This team has too much depth to finish with fewer than 12 wins. Based on the soft non-con, they should be able to hit that mark even with significant injury issues. I also have a hard time envisioning more than 24 wins, even if just about everything goes right. The B1G may not have many great teams, but there aren’t *any* really bad teams; even MINN beat us when we had it rolling at the end of last year. Even if we go 10-1 in the non-con, we would have to go 14-6 to get to 24 wins and that is definitely the upper limit of I can “realistically” hope for.
  8. Mast . . . walking under his own power with no crutches or anything. Probably got dinged-up, but I'm guessing not too serious.
  9. This is really a no lose situation for NU. If the penalty is significant no one would care if we cut him, but while he is here he provides a quality scout team player for the regular rotation to go against. If he's around next year he would have a head start learning the culture and will provide quality depth at PG. Plus, it's impossible to keep everyone happy with playing time and he one guy you won't have to worry about that with.
  10. It looks like the better teams in the league have more games on Peacock. I assume they are getting those teams' buy games instead of them going to BTN+.
  11. I went with 7, but I'm the cautiously hopeful type. I just gotta see progress on the court before I can give them more credit than that. If Nebrasketball has taught me one thing (besides how to deal with disappointment), it is not to presume an NCAA berth is in the offing.
  12. Hold up...more explosive than Mikki Moore?!? That is a bold statement and would be a *very* big development. IIRC, CJ won the 3-point competition last year as well. Hopefully he sustains some consistency this year. I would love to see him be a reliable rotation player as an upperclassman.
  13. Okay, I’ll play… Coleman, Tominaga, Wilcher, Eli, Mast (Sub: Sam) This team will flat-out shoot any of those first 3 teams out of the gym. Lawrence, Ramel, Brice, Gary, Allick (Sub: Cale) This team wins with defense…size, length, and athleticism in spades. None of those 3 teams had the heart to compete; this team would crush their will.
  14. This is the best possible problem to have. I really wish Hoiberg, Williams, and Rhule had the exact same problem.
  15. Anyone have any pictures/video of what the stadium looked like after the match, but during the concert. I'm imagining Scotty McCreary playing this enormous venue while everyone is streaming out like a fire drill, with there being only "dozens" of people left by the end of his set.
  16. I'm changing my answer because this one is correct! Banton would be a cheat code if surrounded by the shooters on the roster now. And he can guard 1-4 as a bonus.
  17. Based on the roster as it stands, I feel compelled to go with a PG. That leads me to either Lance Jeter, Tai Webster or Glynn Watson. I'll go with Sweet Jete in this case. Watson is too small to pair with our current backcourt and Tai's sub-30 career 3P% is a non-starter for a Hoiberg PG. Jeter's positional size & leadership ability would be huge for this team, not to mention he is a good distributor who can make open 3s.
  18. Adding Stanford, Cal, WSU, and OSU to this bunch of misfits and losers does not a P5 conference make: Charlotte, East Carolina, FAU, Memphis, Navy, North Texas, Rice, South Florida, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB, and UTSA are the 14 football teams in the AAC in 2023. Solid mid-major basketball league though.
  19. Done. Good luck on the trip.
