2021 SG Hunter Sallis ->Gonzaga->Wake Forest
HuscurAdam replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Wake Forest was one of the 12 teams we finished second to in Parker Friedrickson's various recruitments. -
I've been salivating at the thought of Sallis playing the Sammy G role next year surrounded by shooters like Keisei/Lawrence/Williams, giving him plenty of room to operate.

Exactly this! Sallis could come in and play the Sammy G role, except with elite, NBA-level athleticism and defense. It could be a lethal combination. -
Aren't he and Jamison Battle basically the same guy?

I've been a Nebrasketball die hard for a long time, and I can tell you unequivocally....stuff like this doesn't happen to Nebrasketball. That said, might as well throw John Tonje into the mix as he would be a nice add and fill a need as well. -

I predicted 9 conference wins at the start of the season...then foolishly started doubting this team by the time we got to the December predictions. I don't doubt them any more and expect a couple more wins in Chicago. GBR! -
No, because none of them committed to us.

Yikes! Did he watch any of their games?

Now how do we get this info to the student section. We need chanting and signs! The chanting needs to be as persistent as the "Air-ball" chant this weekend.

2023 SG Parker Friedrichsen -> Wake Forest...for now
HuscurAdam replied to royalfan's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I'm not saying there aren't outliers, but there's a reason C-1 doesn't compete against A. And OPS has been great for my kids, despite the fearmongering people like to perpetuate. My daughter recently scored in the 97th percentile on her PSATs and gets mail from elite colleges almost daily ever since. -

No disrespect to Parker, but is this a small-class in OK? The quality of the opponent looks like a below-average team for my son's middle school league in Omaha (OPS). -
I honestly think if Nebraska is seriously in contention for a spot in the tournament (18 or 19 wins), this is the year they get in. The Keisei factor of being able to bring a million eyeballs in Japan to the table (that otherwise wouldn't watch) will get the attention of the NCAA and their TV partners. The backroom politics could actually work in our favor for once if only we can win a few more games.

I would argue NW lost their two most talented players, but probably not their best players for what they want to do. Your best players are the ones that buy in and execute the game plan. I would liken it to Bryce and Verge last year, definitely or most talented guys but their game/mindset didn't fit what Fred wanted to do. -
This is almost guaranteed to happen now, just so the NCAA can snub the 3rd place B1G team, just like they did when we finished 4th.

A coach who has won multiple P6 conference championships and made 4 NCAA tourneys, including a Sweet 16, has a ceiling of "close to a .500 record." Really? There is no arguing his first 3 years here weren't a fiasco, but before the injuries they were on track to finish .500 or better *this year*. It would take willful ignorance to not see the improvements in culture and on-court play this season. If you want him fired despite that improvement...hey, it's a bottom-line business and the W/L record is what it is so I get it. I just think the context of the current trajectory warrants another year to see how things go (especially with an $11 mil buyout). The grass isn't always greener and Nebrasketball history tells me there is no guarantee the next guy won't be a disaster too. I'd rather roll the dice one more time on a guy what has done it before and is showing signs of getting it figured out again.
