Big Ten Coach says this about Petteway....yet CBS doesn't have Petteway as preseason All Big Ten. Other than that....positive stuff for NU. Coach's Take The league's best player? "I'm a big (Terran) Petteway fan. What are the other options? (Caris) LeVert, (Branden) Dawson and the Wisconsin kids. I know this: We played Petteway and he beat our ass. He guards, can get his shot off any time he wants. I know he's almost unguardable. He's extremely lethal in the ball screen situation. Almost the way Trey Burke was. Just really hard to guard. Do you stop him, give up the roll, or protect the rim and give up the jumper?" http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24753333/-15-college-basketball-conference-preview-big-ten

I think improvements out of their game should be expected IMO. While all 3 were very solid last year there was room for improvement in every single one of their games. I don't think they have tapped their potential just yet. I think for Shavon his midrange game could be better and building a scorers mentality...I think at the end of the year we saw more of that with him being agressive and I look forward to it this year. For Walt...we all know he is a great shooter for a big man but he would be almost impossible to defend in this offense if he developed an inside game. And for Terran, less mistakes within the flow of the offense. For as good as Terran was last year he still had quite a few plays a game that left you scratching your head. I think with another year under their belt under Miles and this program we will see improvements out of all three. Not sure if it will show up in the stats but I'm hoping it shows up in the win column.

Actually he was very far from getting it done at Iowa State. Doc Sadler was just about the only coach he could win against. Also that Big East player of the year transferred from Iowa St because of Mcdermott's treatment towards him. His mismanagement of the ISU roster was one of his major downfalls.

There is no doubt MSU was doing it to disrupt our offense. But, it's something that should have been corrected after the first premature snap. I think we need to get rid of the clapping all together. It was obvious that MSU was getting a great jump on most snaps due to it.
-
I can see how that happens with him trying to hang on for the snap...but still pretty funny. With that said, if you go back and watch the games after they finish and watch the oline play he is easily the most disappointing player on offense thus far. Our center is not much better but I have a hard time blaming him because he is so undersized it makes it difficult going up against the big tackles in the Big Ten.

I don't think I said anything specific about "what should be done" in regards to Bo. But if I was playing armchair coach I would start with playing the right players. This has been a common theme under Bo. Shouldn't have taken 4 games to get Roach on the field over Banderas. Also, Zaire Anderson should not leave the field unless we are in dime. Oh and if Pelini and Cotton are the best we can do on the oline then we have seriously failed on the recruiting trail. AND if you want a name...if we found ourselves in the position of firing Bo I would love if Eichorst did everything possible to get Jim Tressel as the next HC at NU. Sure, he had his troubles at Ohio St with the tattoos and what not but hes a proven winner and a guy that knows the Big Ten. And imo, it would not be very difficult to persuade him to come to NU. Of course we run the risk of getting penalized if he cheats but at NU I don't see that being an issue. I thought Bo was the right hire in 08. He got us back on stable ground but I'm afraid what you see now is what you get. Now Jason, since I answered your question I would love to hear how Bo has got "continually" better.
-
Not our job. That's why Eichorst gets paid good money. Find someone who can make the NU football program competitive on the national level again. Bo has improved? How so? Last I checked he has lost 4 games every single year. Last I checked his team still commits penalties and turnovers at a high rate. The only thing that may save him this year from losing 4 games is our God awful schedule. We have clearly flat lined under him. Clearly we haven't. But the good thing is we can come back at the end of the season and revisit these posts. And if I'm wrong, I'll own it. But if you don't think we've hit our recruiting stride the past 2-3 years, again, your mind is made up and you aren't paying attention. If you don't think the front four defensively is heads and tails above where it was in earlier years, you're not watching. And for those whining about the depth, we played missing about 8 starters last night and still came close on the road against a good team. A work in progress (see, O-line and linebackers, and your point about penalties and turnovers is valid), but it is in fact progressing, not flat-lining. Special teams is a specific example of that; there is noticeable improvement this year. Just because we're in year 7 doesn't mean a staff can't keep getting better; T.O. did that 20 years into it in '93 after several rough years. 2015 and 2016 classes are looking good, and to blow it all up and start over again would not be good. But, I know none of this will convince the anti-Bo folks. Let's just check back at the end of the season, and I'll go on record as predicting high levels of success (barring even further long term injuries to key guys like AA, Tommy, Gregory, Maliek, and VV). If we win the Big 10 I'll gladly come back and say I was wrong. Have we hit our recruiting stride? I'm not sure maybe....but this staff hitting their recruiting stride is still not good enough to win championships IMO. Last years class was not even ranked in the top 25. The Dline is solid..but not as good as it was when Bo took over....of course I dont really every expect him to sign a Suh. Our defensive line recruiting out of Bo and his staff was a major failure his first few years...and we paid for it...and we still are depth wise. We have a solid starting four. Outside of that, we are razor thin. Bo can shut up his critics by just winning...win the Big 10. Year 7 I think it's fair to start demanding doing something of note. It's time to start gaining some national respect back. Winning last night would have gone a long with in that regard...not giving us is admirable. But we should have never been in the position to be down 27-3. And up until that point we were very hard to watch, the O-line failed to show up.

Didn't you say the same thing about Erstad flat lining earlier this year when it was colder than hell out and the players weren't playing like you thought they should have been. Nope. Don't remember saying Erstad has flat lined. I do remember saying I thought we could have found a better head coach...one with experience. If Erstad is in year 7 without any hardware to show for it I will be saying the same thing. And the players werent playing up to par like they should have been...last I checked the opposing team plays in the same conditions as our team does. I can guarantee you Erstad wouldnt and never will use the temperature as an excuse for his team under performing.

Not if you're paying attention. Future is bright. Sorry, not getting sucked into that. Same problems under Pelini that we have had six years now. Future is bright if you are satisfied with zero championships and 9-10 wins.

Same ole same ole in Pelini land.

Can anyone give a run down? Not working on my phone. Thanks

Do want. It's unfortunate we don't have a football game this weekend but we will have more opportunities to get him on campus. -

Surprising...I thought he was Gtown bound. Nice pickup for the Deamon Deacons. -

It appears he is on an unofficial for football. With that said, I'm sure the basketball coaches will be in his ear. Either was he is either interested in Iowa basketball still or....he still has an itch to play football. I'm sure Miles was given the heads up in regards to the visit but I think its kinda BS he went on the visit. Perhaps he just wanted a free ticket to the game but I hope we are still actively recruiting his position just in case. -
McMullen and Collins played every defensive snap last weekend vs McNeese St. The lack of depth on the D-line may prove to be a killer on the back end of the schedule if that continues.

Does this mean we are the only ranked show in the state? Hurry...someone make a stupid T-Shirt to show how insecure we are!

Stanford keeping tabs on him. I like how Miles is already getting after him though. -
Yeahhhh, I think we will be a good team but #11 overall and #2 in the Big10 is probably a bit generous right now. But, it doesn't hurt in the eyes of recruits.

At one point in time last year Watson was 100% to Marquette. Things can change fast in the world of recruiting. Getting him on campus is a big step.
