  1. Pike also had a nice showing last night at Gate 25 after the game!
  2. Yeah, it's not a good look right now. That might have been the least amount of enthusiasm from a team that I have seen. The bench was particularly morose the last 30 seconds, when one would have expected some cheering and celebrating. Personally I think the burden of high expectations all year is taking a toll. We seem to do better when we're preseason 13th. I hope the switch can be flipped and guys can get back to having some fun.
  3. 1869. Heh heh
  4. You might, but Jay Wright wouldn't.
  5. Oh my, here it comes. The annual "if we just throw enough money at them they will come" posts. No, Jay Wright is not coming here. Ever. Warren Buffet could unload his bank account and Jay Wright is not coming here. Triple his salary and he is. not. coming. here. And Martin and Lue and Hoiberg aren't coming either.
  6. Of course you're not sorry at all and the apology is phony. You thrive on bad times. The only time you show up.
  7. Pretty prolific so far, Norm. Impressive.
  8. And there is a middle ground as well. One can be concerned about the future of this staff, and thus the recruits, without engaging in bashing. Everyone and his dog knows how precarious the situation is, and we really got off to a bad start in league. Some flaws are apparent. It may turn out OK, and it may not. But the hole has been dug. I'm not doing any bashing, but I won't waste energy getting excited about next year when the whole thing could get blown up. Xavier Johnson is a perfect example of that. The good news is that this board has been pretty measured compared to others. True bashing has been a minimum in my opinion; the supporters still outweigh the critics. And even those considered bashing are pretty respectable and mature by message board/social media standards. God bless HHC. And while we're seeking blessings, I call for a lifting of the curse.
  9. In fairness, Nebraska basketball has been in the dumps for, oh, only about 100 years. ? I mean, think about it--how bizarre is it that we're the ONLY power conference team to NEVER win an NCAA tournament game. Now, I still love it, and can handle the adversity, but I'm not in denial about how crappy the program has been. So I cut a little slack to anyone feeling a little tough this week after a 1-3 conference start with all of our games against MSU and MU remaining. So seeding is starting to look dicey, which makes the win I need to see before I meet my maker less likely, etc. It's a curse, I tell you. I love those who say "all is well"; bless your hearts. As an experienced geezer, I'm keeping expectations low. '92, '14, and '18 all happened when we were preseason last or close to it. The burden of high expectations can be a killer!
  10. If I understand the "wager" correctly, Overs. As in, it will be way more than 3 weeks before we're back in the top 25. As in not this year.
  11. The precise reason I gave it up.
  12. I have learned over 53 years to not have high hopes about Husker basketball. Ever. Any good that happens is gravy. But the curse prevails.
  13. I am more than ready, I'm friggin' desperate.
  14. Might be confusing him with Markowski
  15. Great post, uneblinstu. Nailed it in all regards. If he can stay healthy and keep playing at this level all year, very good things could happen. He was always a tweener in my mind, but this year he really seems like a point guard. He is clearly a leader as well.

    Iowa loses

Any day Iowa loses is a good day
  17. Welcome to the Board, and glad you survived the fall from the Nakatomi Plaza.
  18. Mixing "pop" with good whiskey should never be encouraged.
  19. As Corso would say, "Not so fast, my friend." We use them in addition to "that's what she said".
