Norm, something tells me you haven't spent a lot of time on the couch during your marraige...so, I'd answer the question yes--there's plenty of chances in hell that you'd avoid sleeping on the couch. Either way, it would have been your obligation to attend the game.

Thank goodness most Nebraskans disagree with you, Coug. Runza Rocks.

His t-shirt underneath the jersey sure didn't seem to be the appropriate size.....

uneblinstu's post game chatter: vol 5, ed 1
HB replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I'm more in line with Norm's description than those who are touting Biggs as a major baller. He'd help us this year, but I don't see him as "the deal". If his outside shot improved it would help him a ton, but that typically doesn't happen to 4th year college guys. If they can't shoot it by the time they're this age, it isn't to be. -
I booed at that time--loudly. We were all just having fun. Although I do love free Runzas, and as Norm says, we won't get many this year. In fact, I believe we will stay in the 30s a number of times. But, with the glass half full, we get $1.00 off of a combo meal of the tastiest fast food around no matter what happens.

Midland Exhibition Game Thread: It Don't Come Easy.....
HB replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I agree. Not a surprise at all. But in terms of describing the situation, I have closely followed NU basketball for 45 years. I've seen some really bad teams in that time. I have no doubt this is the worst assemblance of talent, compared to the competion, we have ever fielded. I'll have no trouble going to the games and supporting the team, and I'll be patient--but to go back to the overused cliche--"it is what it is"--this is an alltime low on what we can put out on the court, and it's not close. May God have mercy.... -
I like your approach, Dave, for this year

Best player you ever saw at the Devaney

Mitch Richmond not getting much love on this thread but he was a great player. -
I think both sides of this debate make good points, but Miles is in the best position to know how good Biggs is for this level. He is no doubt an ahtlete, and his sheer athleticism would help us in some games against the 200 and lower RPI games on the schedule (we could definitely drop one or more of those games with this roster; perhaps less of a chance if Biggs plays). I'm not sure his outside shot and ball handling translate to upper level Big 10 point guard play. After a month of practice, I would think Miles knows what he has. If he plays, it would perhaps be a subtle statement that in addition to making us a LITTLE more competitive this year, he thinks he will recruit or has recruited enough of a better player(s) that we don't need to preserve an extra year for Biggs. If Akoy sticks with his verbal to Louisville, my guess if Biggs plays. If he doesn't, it could be because Biggs has been coming on in practice and Miles wants to save a year due to the obvious problems facing us this year anyway; or, just simply because Biggs insists on redshirting and Miles keeps his word to him that he could redshirt. MIles isn't dumb; he understands it's not worth wasting a year with Biggs if he is a really solid player and will help us a bunch down the road. I defer to the coach on this one, but if Biggs plays, it won't be because Miles thinks it will really help us this year.

Jo Jo Hunter and Harold Miner had the best offensive games I saw in person in Devaney. Thanks for posting this, Cip; interesting article, although lacking in detail about Jo Jo's ultimate crimes. Tisdale and Griffen's talent and physical gifts just jumped off the page and were men vs. boys. Darnall Valentine hasn't been mentioned yet, but he had some great games in Devaney. As did Rolando Blackman. -
I'm sure that's a big part of it, but I'm not sure he's that great a player either. Someone else would have taken a chance on him if he was a high level player. Hope he proves me wrong.

Row 6: Glad to hear Sample could at least play 16 minutes, after her physical struggles. She plays hard and helped us in a lot of ways last year as a true freshmen. But if her shooting could get to "inconsistent", it would be a vast improvement. It was actually quite consistent last year, and not in a good way. Hopefully she has made some strides in the offseason with her shooting form.

Uneblinstu, I'm curious as to why you're so high on Biggs. To compare him to Frazier? If he was anywhere near as good as Frazier, why didn't he have better offers coming out of Juco? I sure hope you're right; I would be pleasantly surprised if your description ends up being on the mark.

Respectfully, you are WAY too negative on our football program

Makes sense. Biggs may still play so he could fit in somewhere also.

I said the same thing when my kid was a toddler. Now he's a freshmen at UNL. Uh Oh. Time's running short....

Lots of pictures of Slippery Joe. Made me think of you, Cip!

An all-time classic. Thanks, Row 6.

If only Sideburns would post again!

You're kidding, right? They did exactly what an 8 seed is supposed to do. Won the 8-9 game, and played well but lost to the 1 seed in a tough game. Doing nothing with it would have been losing the first game. I'm no Creighton fan, but that "nothing" of reaching the round of 32 was more than we have ever done.

Row 6, thanks so much for all of the news you post on this forum. I really appreciate your efforts. No way I could mine all of this information on my own.

Fever, I couldn't watch either. Sounded like Austin Christensen, Chad's younger brother, had a good series at the plate. Looking forward to Erstad's second year.
