  1. Road trip. I'm there.
  2. I normally don't get that worked up over the issue, but last night, the departures at the 4 minute media timeout made me crazy. Love Nebraskans--"it's a late game with that 8:00 p.m. tipoff, I gotta go!" Wow,, what's a few minutes lost sleep to watch the end of a close game where we had a chance to beat a better team. Frankly, the cchance to watch any win this year is a special occasion. On a better note, I thought the Red Zone did pretty good last night.
  3. Norm, you are right--perhaps Parker can also play a little offense, and hopefully Shields, but everyone else is an offensive liability. So those 3 will get LOTS of attention. There will be a lot of nights where it will be tough to get Talley shots. Pretty easy to scheme on defesne against us--few if anyone who can drive the ball, and usually 2 or 3 inept shooters on the floor at one time. Good luck getting points with that. But on nights Talley or Ubel don't score much, it may not necessarily mean they had a bad game.
  4. Agree. Not only was I encouraged by a 2 point home victory, I was exhilerated. Ecstatic. I resolve to enjoy every game we are even in. Against anyone. Don't care if it is 300 RPI team. Any game we can win is fantastic. More than ever I can overlook the problems and enjoy anything good that happens. At any one time, there are usually 2 or 3 guys on the floor who aren't remotely high division 1 players. I mean, seriously, when Ubel gets triple teamed, what does that tell you about the talent on the floor? The laast couple years we had guys lamenting that Mike Fox got minutes. Well, we have guys way worse than him getting significant minutes, and would have 2 or 3 "Foxes" on the court at any one time. Enjoy EVERY single win this year. I was thrilled to see the defensive game plan unfold last night. The effort of the guys. What a great night. I still would take the unders if the over/unders line was 1 in conference. But I look forward to watching the effort, the improvement, and the Rudy's on the floor, no matter what happens.
  5. Yes, plus he will usually get a lot of attention, since we have few offensive weapons. I believe at one time we had Tyrance, Peltz, and Menke on the floor at the same time. I can't remember if the 4th was Rivers. So basically, they don't have to guard anyone but Talley and maybe one other guy in certain situations. He will struggle for looks on most nights. But last night he did a great job in the other aspects of the game. Defense, got 6 boards, and had 4 assists.
  6. Havers, yes. The others, not so much.
  7. Wish we could use the old Iowa high school girls rules and just have Tyrance play defense.
  8. Welcome Mose. You represent the Jay World with class and dignity. If more were like you, I might even have to root for them once in awhile.
  9. Nice class by Groce. It ain't gonna be easy to move up the food chain in this league.
  10. Agree with 49er. And not nearly as obnoxious as Tony. (Not HHC Tony, but Bluejay in the Avatar Tony)
  11. Perhaps Royal Fan will give us his thoughts on that line.....always interesting to observe from the sidelines.
  12. Unless they've undergone a name change, I haven't seen Curteous One, Hoops Panda (but I still read him every day), bball23, and ImmaSker. UNL is registered but needs to post; great Husker fan that lad. And I'm still troubled by the absence of Auroran Husker since 2010. Prolific poster who just disappeared without a trace.
  13. Had to vote that post up, Atskooc--not only for the video but for the awesome avator!
  14. Uh Oh, prepare for a Dean Smith full frontal....
  15. PROBABLY have helped us, Norm?
  16. No way, Norm. But speaking of Runzas, Miles came through with his promise to give the first 200 red zone members a free runza last night. My son was a beneficiary.
  17. Parker has enough quicks to play at this level. He needs to get in better shape; he was tired and took a lot of possessions off on defense. If basketball didn't require ballhandling and shooting, Rivers would be pretty good. Ray played very good on offense....and very poorly on defense. It was clear after a couple of minutes Peltz can't play at this level--unless his balky knee was the reason. He is slow and can't handle it well. He got broken down 3 straight possessions. Didn't see much time after that, so Miles saw it. But, on the radio show, he mentioned the bad knee. Hopefully that was a big part of it. All in all, I'm happy with the win--I will be happy with any win we can get, no matter the competition.
  18. Looked less than that to me, but the Red Zone wasn't bad. Whatever the number, they were very quiet.
  19. I echo the praise of the defense. It was absolutely stifling the first half; perhaps as good as I have seen it--which is surprising this early in the year. Everyone seems to get Yori's system. Another area we look good in is rebounding. A pleasant surprise. Shooting--well, we have a long way to go there. Hopefully just a slump. Sample was outstanding today in her minutes. Hopefully her health will hold. Finally, 00 has a whole bunch of game. One tough player.
  20. Hope Cady isn't in for a sophomore slump. She has so many gifts, and we need another offensive weapon. 2 bigtime airballs on wide open jumpers were hard to watch. But, Emily plays pretty free--if anyone can have some problems and not get down over it, it's her.
  21. That had to be paid attendance. I thought there were about 3000 there. I'm sure volleyball hurt attendance.
  22. Now THAT is some funny stuff. These fake guys have some game, no doubt.
