A somewhat funny story from the East-Pius game: Vince Marrow was there to watch his daughter, who plays for Pius. He wanted to be sure he wore his new University of Kentucky gear. Unfortunately, that is the same colors as his daughter's team's opponent.

OK, once again I am AMAZED at how out of touch this old guy is: A 3 week, 32 reply thread on freaking UNIFORMS. I go to these games and watch BASKETBALL. Don't really even notice the dang uniforms, t-shirts, shoes, etc. Sincerely, Not Hip

Went to Simon's game last night. East's performance was pretty pathetic, so it was hard to get a feel for Simon's game. She didn't get to play much in the second half because of the blowout. She didn't play the point. Also, East played zone most of the game. Maddie has good length, and moves well. She will need to get stronger to play at the BCBS level, but she's only a sophomore. Good passer. Looked good driving the ball on a couple of occasions. The outside shot will need some work. Nothing jumped off the page and said "she's a bigtime player" (unlike watching 5 minutes of Jess Shephard as a freshman), but again, the competition may have had a lot to do with that. Couldn't tell if she will be able to defend at the point--her on ball D looked good, but she wasn't having to guard super quick players. Perhaps we'll get a better look in the district final and at State.

She plays at Lincoln East tonight at 7:30. I plan to attend and check out her game. Saw her long jump and run track previously, but look forward to watching her hoop.

Rachel Theriot is the most improved player over the course of the season. What a line she had today, as Row 6 stated: 5-5 from the field, 1-1 from the line for 11 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, 0 turnovers. Outstanding; Row 6, she's my player of the game, although I agree T was big today, especially what she did in our zone defense.

Unbelievable turnout at the banquet friday night. About 650 people packed the Embassy Suites. Great support of the program. Scioscia was very entertaining. That is one broad-shouldered dude. Ersty was intense as always. After his speech, I wanted to run through a wall. Or at least tackle someone. I see good things happening this year. Very difficult schedule, but we have a lot of experience.

Miles is trying to change the culture at Nebraska. That also means us. You can change a culture without throwing your team under the bus. If I'm a recruit I'm going somewhere I know the coach has my back publicly. Overthinking it, IMO

cipsucks felt bad about calling him a troll and so he sent seaofred some of cip's famous salsa. And possibly some jerky too. So, the moral of this story is that you should act offended if cip ever comments on one of your posts and you might be able to swing some salsa out of the deal. Hey Cip--You suck!
