I echo the comments--special coach, special guy, very unique, intellectual, and interesting guy. Norm, the public dinner didn't quash the Majerus deal, it was Collier getting the Butler AD job and resigning in the summer rather than getting whacked after the following season. Majerus couldn't take the job until after the season, and we couldn't go the "interim" route and had to hire a permanent coach given the timing of things.

Whoops, played the threads from bottom to top this morning and didn't realize there was an identical thread on the main forum.

Excellent basketball coach, superb intellect, loyal and quite interesting person. Would have been intersting to see what would have happened had Pedersen's plan to hire him to replace Collier panned out. There is a good article on Majerus' death by Gene Wojokowski out there if someone can link.

Idaho State was good defensively and was very physical. Not really athletic or quick. We saw a preview of what we'll see a lot of this year--let us shoot 3s. Another pitiful performance shooting the 3 today--2 of 15 I think. Cady continues to struggle as a sophomore. We don't have much right now after Moore and Hooper.

That's too bad. It didn't look good at the time.

Have seen Quick Change numerous times, and never have been able to figure out how they do that. Simply amazing.

Did both of you guys graduate from Creighton?

Row 6, I understand where you're coming from. I try to be understanding of how hard it is to recruit here. And Connie deserves lots of credit for going out and getting players like Griffin and Moore. But I will never understand how it was that our November 2011 recruiting class had 1 player (Theriot). It was obvious that we needed some servicable post depth. And we signed no one. Zero. Nada. We lucked into Murren in the spring when her coach left WGB, so that class swelled to 2, but still no bigs. So, we know we need players, and have the opportunity of a generation with 3 great or potentiallyplayers. A great senior point guard doesn't happen often, with a national top 15 player in Hooper and a special player (who is in a bit of a sophomore slump but who will give us a lot). Those 3 with some post depth and another shooter could really be the deal. Theriot will ultimately be a very good player and point guards are everything in college ball. But how do we sign zero bigs. Have no idea how that happened.

Normy, you are having a good couple of days on here.....

And stay out of foul trouble. I see a bunch of this in Andre's future, against teams with a post presence. I hope his time on the floor is only limited by his stamina, and not fouls. Although the two may relate; some of his fouls are probably due to fatigue or the feet not working to carry around what they have to.

uneblinstu's post game chatter: vol 5, ed 7 - Wake Forest

Norm, you are correct. In the context of the answer Miles was giving when he made the comment about extending the bench, it was as subtle as a sledge hammer for poor Menke. Miles was talking about giving up the 3s to Fischer in the first half--at least 2 of which were over Menke. -
Very well done, Kaz! Hopefuly you will be able to buy many more after road games

The shot that I think got him going, right at the start of the second half, hit all kinds of rim--front iron, back iron, and down. After his misses in the first half, it may have really helped him to get the shooters roll on the early second half possession. After that he was just plain unconsious. -
That's some funny stuff right there, Dave.

Game Day Essentials: Game #6 vs Wake Forest - 11/27/2012

Classic, saying our loss to Kent State was on a neutral-court. I was there, and I can understand why they would say that. -

6 wins in 4 games. Now that's some serious optimism! -

The improvement goal is quite laudable. But it won't happen each and every game, nor is it realistic that it would happen. So I would distinguish between a goal and an expectation. Even focusing on improvement vs. wins and losses, there will be some steps backward, especialy with a true freshmen point guard. But overall, general improvement I expect we will see, in our play and approach to the game, regardless of Ws and Ls. -
People will need to be a little patient with her. She is behind the curve a bit since she has been a 3 sport athlete and has has less of a basketball concentration than most top prospects. But the coaches think she has a lot of upside and are very high on her. It just may take a little while to click.

I'll take the unders.

Well, it was nice to have a troll free new board for a few weeks, at least.

For all the hate on Peltz, he was our third best player last night. He played his rear off. Great effort on defense, especially for someone playing with a torn patellar tendon. 6 boards from a point guard is impressive. It also reflected how hard he played. He's limited and shouldn't be playing at this level. But that's not his fault. All he can do is go his hardest, and if you were in the gym last night, watching away from the ball, you could see he did that better than anyone else. And I'm surprised no one commented on how bad Parker played. There are going to be those nights for a true freshman, but last night his head was a mess. Struggled in all phases of the game. Almeaida appeared disinterested all night. So Miles decided to be disinterested in playing him. Messages are more important right now than wins. Although there are absolutely no options right now at the off guard. Ray getting 37 minutes the way he played says it all. Lots of struggles ahead. I love what I'm seeing out of Talley and Ubel. Their souls and characters will be tested. To lace 'em up everyday and give great effort once we get on long losing streaks will be hard. I resolve to acknowledge and appreciate such effort and discipline going forward, regardless of the results. -
